O.K. my query is a two parter. I've been reading a bit about auras. And the book I am reading, says that certain colours are earned. It also says chakras (all chakras have assigned colours) will not open unless you earned those as well. Has anyone heard of this?
The book does not really go into detail about what one has to do to earn their colours, just that they have to be earned...if colours are earned, I am assuming those colours would be there in your next life. Has earned colours ever come up in reincarnation beliefs?

Good question Sarky .. I can't say I am qualified to answer it but I can say that I had heard that (might bhave the wrong religious group) budhists? believe that the kundhalindi (spellings a bit dodgy too) a type of serpent that spends most of it's time situated at the base Chakra , is released through meditation. As your ability to achieve higher consciousness increases so does the serpents abillity to reach a higher Chakra . The end goal is to release the Kundhalindi into the soul ether and become a conscious part of the collective mind........ but then again I tend to babble a little ..

As far as the chakras go, the colours assigned to them tend to be the same, with small variations. I think you will find that most people would not share that opinion about chakras opening. They would tend to close up when some stress or illness concerning that particular chakra is occurring and open with treatment or a return to health (physical/mental/emotional).
I'm not so sure about auras, but I still wouldn't be inclined to think that colours are earned, as I think auric colours tend to change with health and state of mind too. I've mentioned him before, but a search on Harry Oldfield might bring up some interesting stuff on auras.

if auras r effected by moods and etc and there4 they change frequently, i'd really like to c the aura of sum1 who's got mood swings.

I was not really impressed with her mini readings, however her experiences and some of what she says goes along with traditional new age beliefs. The colours that she gave the chakras, were the traditional colours. She also stated the colours changes. It just that she states that one can earn colours. Now that I am writing this it does not seem like a contratdiction. I mean for the most part each chakra is a specific colour...so maybe parts of our aura can be specific colours. (when those colours are earned). I will look up the Harry reference as soon as I gets a chance...thankee

Blue is around some that is seeking spiritual truths. According to the author, "Bright blue in the aura shows integrity, sincerity, and natural wisdom."
Doctors have lots of blue around them, cause it is a healing colour.
Psychic Penguin, Kreestar...I have heard of this experiment. Some books warn of such classes. Students are taught seeing those colours. Basically those classes are teaching you to see the complentary colour.
Red's complement is Green, Yellow's complement is Purple, Blue's complement is Orange. If you know your complementary colours, you can avoid such classes.

Most people who are colorblind often get green and red confused for whatever reason, this might be a case, but who knows.

Auras aren't just complimentary colors. I've looked at my hand, and usually it is neon green, or a dark blue. I've also looked a tree trunks (brown) and seen orange.
I think aura'sare fascinating,id love to goto a senser to see what colour mines is.I'd guess black.......
Don't get me wrong. I believe that aura is not just complimentary color. I just haven't find the real maestro yet

Basically an aura is the physical (although mostly unseen) manifestation of a person's vibration. So, mood and physical health would affect the color. Each color has a particular vibration, that is why each chakra has a color assigned to it.
Kundalini is, in most people, the "sleeping serpent". Without the work done in meditation, kundalini does reside in the lowest chakra. It is dormant. Raising kundalini brings the energy up through the chakras however if a person has a blocked chakra, the experience can be very painful.

Yes Byuu, u are right. There are other colours. I think some teachers are making an honest mistake. I think they really believe they are seeing the aura because they don't know anything about complimentary colours. If all green objects show a red aura, be warned.
Xeno, I am not sure how reincarnation would come into play. I wonder if certain chakras would be open, or certain colours would automatically show up? I did not check you link yet. I will soon... What you wrote reminded me of something tho. I learned that if you wanted to block someone u can cross your legs, or put your hands across your stomach. Of couse, if you do any of these things your body language will be read as being defensive. It works, tho. I had a crappy job, with crappy mediations and tried these things. I believe I won the last mediation round cause of it
( I know a mediation is not about winning or losing, the other person was very competative, so she made the situation black and white.)Firstman and PPenguin, I did have a photo taken once. Right before the mentioned mediation. It was completely red. It looked like I had a huge red afro. I also had a sore throat at the time. I was told my throat chakra was closed, cause I was not saying what needed to be said. I did not get an after photo, but my sore throat went away immediately
after the last mediation.Also, I think I might have seen a bit of my aura...Practicing on my own. I am not sure tho, as I can not do it at will. Reiki class did help a bit, in letting me feel the aura.

Fun Fact...the kundalini sits inside of a woman's vagina, and in men it is above the testicles, which I believe is the first chakra.
I've read in a few place that if you open your chakras in the incorrect order, there is spontanous combustion. I also read somewhere, that should not be taken literally. Some books on yoga, do not mention spontaneous combustion at all. What can you do with kundalini energy? I've read it feels like a cocaine rush, and Western cult "raise" the kundalini in victims thro chanting, fasting, and meditation.

That is correct about the throat chakra being blocked by not speaking up. The throat chakra has to do with a person's will and not using your will or not standing up for youself will block the throat chakra.
It sounds like you really listen to your body. That is good.
One correction though - the lowest chakra is the sexual chakra however it resides at the base of the spine not in the genitals.

Ah yes, Chakras. I really do not like those things. 
My strongest Chakra is my indigo or third eye chakra. I get headaches a lot so I think it's overworked.

This is the result of afterimage experiment, you can try it yourself (it probably won't work if you already have an auric vision)
Grab a piece of white paper, ane make 3 squares with following colors:
- red
- blue
- yellow
Stare at them for 1 minute, don't change your focus. Then quickly change your focus to the blank area of the page. There you will see the afterimage color.
red - green
blue - orange
yellow - purple
But don't be disappointed, maybe the object in question really have the aura that match these pairs.
So how to tell if you really have an auric vision? Well, don't know exactly, but I think the following tests may help.
1. Look at your hand, and put it on the side of a light source, such that you can see the bright side and the dark side of your finger. Check the aura, if the aura in shade has the same color than the aura in light, you get a positive result.
2. Find a living object and a non-living object with similar color (eg flower and garment). Don't worry if they are the same, but if they are different, you made a discovery.
3. Go back to your hand. When concentrating to look at the aura, remember to keep the focus on one spot. Then remove your hand from your vision. You will now see the afterimage of your hand and your aura. Make sure that they are different, you must be able to see the aura arround the afterimage of your hand with a different color.

O.K I worded that wrong.
According to the book, Your Aura and Your Chakras by Karla McLaren..." is located at the very base of the spine, just inside the vagina in women, and just above the testicles in men."
Please don't be offended about what I'm going to say er- rather type. What I'm worried is what happends if someone reads this gets scared and then rushes out to work for a Sallie Ann store? [Salvation Army] I believe that people do have auras but that's just who they are as a person. They don't go with you into your next life you don't earn them to change them into a different aura color. I do believe in Karma and what you push out into the world. And how Karma can reward you or kick you in your a**. That's what I believe.

The Chakra at the base of the spine is the Root Chakra; the Chakra below the belly button/above the genitals is the Sex Chakra. Above that around the base of the sternum is the Solar Plexus Chakra; above that near the heart is of course the Heart Chakra. Above that is the Throat Chakra; between your eyebrows on your forehead is the Third Eye Chakra; and finally at the top of your head is the Crown Chakra. Different people give these Chakras different names but I don't know enough of that, I just am mainly concerned with the maintanance.
As far as I've come to understand it these Chakras are like doors allowing energy to enter and release from and into the body. When negative energy enters the body these Chakras close, a defense mechanism. The only problem is they can hold in something that's already entered, causing illness; emotional, physical, spiritual. Through several methods already described in this forum the Chakras can be opened and cleansed. Most likely a person's aura can change the more this is done. Not so much as earning but more an indicator of good health. You can look at it as earning but you can always change back to the same color if stuff is clogging you up.
Reincarnation's purpose is to learn something we didn't in a previous life. This can mean starting with a new aura, but often there are traces of several old lives with us, along with the old aura if we fall into old habits. Free will allows us to change our path on the roadmap of life, and therefore the color of our auras.

Vibration is the key to all we are discussing here. We are all on a vibratory wave length as are colors. That is why we seem to be surrounded with an auric color. The higher our vibration, the higher the aura color we emmantate.
The more spiritual we are the higher our vibration rate is. Hence the vibratory color would be higher in the spectrum.
Breathing is also related to this area. I read somewhere, the faster the breath pattern, the shorter the lifespan. That is a very interesting theory.
