Do they exist? To many it seems that they do, however when one is possessed by a demon, it usually isn't contagious, meaning that if one person is exercised of their demon, then they do not go on to prey on another person.

Based on reports, people say they usually end up coming into contact with demons usually after performing some type of hypnosis, usually of one's self. Ouija Boards are an example of this. And so it seems based on that, that demons have a high possibility of being 100% from the mind. Perhaps we all have this 'demon' and it is a part of our subconcious that we let loose when in deep hypnosis. Perhaps what we ourselves think will kill it, actual does kill it. For example, if I were Catholic, I'd typically think that a priest would rid me of my demons. Usually this is how it is ridden. You'll never see a Buddhist exercise a Mormon, nor a Muslim exercise a Hindu.

This all raises the question: Are demons just our minds acting in insanity?

I never looked at it that way. But, I believe that there are all types of demons which are more "attracted" to certain people. But on the other hand, I do believe that it has something to do with our mental state. I think it is kind of a mixture of religion, nonreligious beliefs, our mental state, and our physical state.

Yes, but then if you're to say that, you could replace the word demons with dimentia and replaced the word "attracted" with intolerable.

I respect your opinion, but I don't think that the demon is a product of the mind. There have been cases where the victim is a non-Catholic and they get exorcised by a Catholic priest because there's nowhere else to turn to. I can honestly tell you that I don't know much on the matter.

A demon can be anything. It is a dark force inside you that corrupts part of your wellbeing ("soul"?). It can be anything from a psychological stimulus, to an addiction of some kind.

Well, I don't think a demon is a mental illness, however, a lot of the symptoms of possession are similar to those of a person with a mental illness. Maybe demons cause mental illnesses? I can only tell you that I don't know for sure.
