Guitar Hero II has got to be, to me, the most addicting game I've ever played. Even though I prefer Final Fantasy, I always find Guitar Hero more addictive. Even when I bought FFXII, I can't help but play Guitar Hero every day.
No song gets too repetitive, except maybe the songs near the start and I'm really getting good at it. Only a few more five stars to get in expert mode. Anyone else hooked to this game as I am cause I'm literally insane with it.
I am going to fail my Junior Certificate this year. laugh.gif

Tell me if you find it difficult trying to stretch out to the orange button without losing your position on the other buttons. I found this difficult to get used to for while (Unless this isn't your first time playing) cause I don't play real guitar.

The orange button? Is that the far-est one? I dont remember, well if it is, then I would say dont stretch but shift your hand. Notice the center button (Yellow is it?) that it has a bump? When shifting, that bump really helps.

Anyone notice that the difficulty level from medium to hard is a huge leap?

Haha, yay!

I love this game. original.gif Ever since I tried out the first one early last year, I was hooked. Counting down the days until the second one was to be released.

The first was easy, for me, to develop little skills, or whatever, to get through the songs. I was into expert within 3-4 months of playing. The second one makes me cry, as I can't play it as easily as I can with the first.

Anyone try Carry Me Home on hard? That's the one that's keeping me from finishing the game in that difficulty. sad.gif

Yeah, far-east one. I just phrased my words wrong, I do shift my hand but still found it hard to get my hands back to proper position. But I've grown out of that a long time ago. Medium to hard was sort of big but I guess if you could master medium then you'd get to hard soon enough and just have 3 stars for nearly every songs. Eventually with more practice, that gets too easy, then expert mode comes next.

I found GH 1 was harder for some songs because the pull-ons and hammer-offs were harder to perform but songs were better. But GH 2 has definitely harder songs. Carry Me Home can be tricky but it's not too bad in hard mode. What part are you stuck on it? Verse, Chorus, Solo? etc.

yeah the hammer-ons and pull-offs are nearly impossible in GH1 for me. I have no problem on carry me home in hard, but expert is triiiiiiicky. PHEW, wears me out.

I just played the hammer-ons/pull-offs as regular buttons. tongue.gif I got so used to it that I got faster and faster while in game. On GH2, though, I then got used to relying on how they really fixed it that it took some time to get used to playing on the first game again.

And, I'm pretty much stuck on the whole song throughout. tongue.gif Just hurts my fingers and arms; feels like they're on fire. I've played the song countless times in practice mode, slowed down, but I just have yet to get it fully down on the regular speed.

That has got to be handy for the likes of jordan and other major hammer-on songs. I guess with a good bit of practice then you'll get the song eventually. If there are some long parts with the same notes coming up which there is in this song. Strum the fret button up and down consecutively and it is far more easier. Just keep it at an easy pace and you won't burn your arm off. thumbsup.gif

Well if you liked killing things in certian video games, then was it because it was a lot more entertaining than for example: Sports games/tetris type games etc.? Guitar Hero keeps you amused for ages because with the use of your arms and fingers, it contains a little bit of physical work and gets difficult at hard parts (If you're about to fail the song). It is very addictive!
Since it doesn't contain killing things, maybe you'd consider it if you really like music (Rock/Metal). So maybe it isn't the game for you if you're not mad into music but it's great once you get really good (Hard/Expert mode) because it's a little boring for Easy or Medium mode but if you're a beginner, then it won't be.

If you want an example of how the game is played like, there are plenty of videos on Youtube. Just type in Guitar Hero 2.

The Guitar Hero controller uses buttons instead of strings. linked-image
This picture also shows how to actually make the noise. There are plenty of videos on Youtube that will show you people playing the game. (Which are normally on expert mode. Just so you know in case you think the game is very hard)

When the notes come up to the screen, press the button corrseponding with the note and strum using the fret button.
As for my area of Dublin, The Fingal Area/Northern Dublin, near the coastline.

Well if the "dum dum dum" part is for the start of the song then it probably is YYZ. If it has no words in it then it is probably YYZ.

YYZ's great. There is a noticeable difference on expert though.

Institutionalized is going to kill me. I never struggled on it on hard mode but did trying to get 5-star(Which I eventually got) and when it comes to Expert mode, it's hopeless even trying.

i've heard from a few people who play guitar that playing this game is kinda counter-productive towards those skills, but it's very fun. I can beat a lot of the songs on expert, most of em, but there are still some that get me... no.gif

The only thing we can do is just to shift your hand over to the orange button. It might be hard at firstur hand back into position but with practice then it will get easier.
One of my friends playing this game found a medium song with an orange note played in it once. Any idea which one it is?

I found the best way to keep track of the buttons is using the yellow button it has a lil bump on it which i believe is intensional to make it stand out. All you have to do is get it in you're mined that the yellow button is the center green and red are over it blue and orange are under it and things get easyer.

Yeah I saw that. I guess if you can manage to get everything before the solo then that would be enough nearly. It's just for GTR Solo B & C that is insane. I tried the rest of the song on practice and it's actually quite easy. I normally get by part B with star power but C always causes me to fail. My record was 56-58% complete. I'll pass by it soon! What are the other songs you're stuck on?

As for the yellow bump, it really does help you know where your fingers would be at. 'Yellow is centre and if you feel the little bump then you know where you are.'
That might help even more, thanks bigdog112.

The feel of the Gutiar Hero controller is as if you are creating a whole song wit different instruments using only the one insturment. So if instruments weren't your thing. This Guitar might make you feel like you can play guitar, bass, drums and even sing. Now if only real electric guitars were played using buttons and not strings, that would be either really cool or a complete failure.

Trogdor will get easy to do with a tiny bit of practice as it is mainly repeating chords for a bit. But Six is very difficult. That'd be harder to get 5-star in than Jordan. Becase the start of Jordan before solos are harder than
