Hello everyone. I hope someone out there can help me with this one. First of all I am new to all of this, and this is my first time on this site.

I have been converting a barn in England just over 2 years now. We have had some really weird things happening - like tools going missing just after we have been using them. Then within 10-20 minutes of looking for them, find them somewhere else in the barn. (where we certainly weren't working).

Orbs - photos of loads of them. One in particular has decided to follow me around and is very distinctive. It has a flat top to it, and a dark spot on the right upper side. We have hundreds of photos of them - and I am trying to put together a website of it all - but not very good on computers!! Also I have seen 8 orbs now without a camera. One was transparent, slow moving and glided right in front of me, in the daylight. Gob-smacked! Then 5 'orbs' golden in colour, just bobbing about in the same area. This was at night. Very clearly seen again without a camera. Then I have seen 2 which were like very fast flashes of light, quite small, and moving behind two people visiting us.

I saw an apparition last week on Thursday night. I was just chatting to some friends, when suddenly it was there - wearing brown long cloth like clothes, with a hood, but you could see the face and hands. The next thing it had 'fallen' extremely quickly through the floor. We were upstairs at the time under one of the beams. It made me thing someone had been hanged in there.

We have shown the photos to several psychic mediums, and also had a cross blessed and put in the barn. We are having it blessed as soon as possible. But I have never experienced anything like this in my life before. The last thing that happened was again a photograph, but this time of my husband outside. It was a beautiful clear cold night. No fog. And the photo turned out with mist all over my husband, but NOT on the person stood next to him.

Could anyone give me any ideas as to what is happening. If they have seen any orbs without a camera. And also, what does the mist mean?

Hi Jewel. Welcome to UM.

Normally, I don't trust orb photo's, because almost all of them are caused by the camera (especially digital cameras, which are notorious for this). However, the barn genuinely seems to have a haunting, and you have seen the orbs with your own eyes, so maybe you have something there.

If you don't want to wade through all that, I've pasted the relevant section:

"Another time, while looking out of the window of my room at night, with the room behind me reflected in the glass, I saw a small orb. The small orb was white, the size of a marble, and moved swiftly, but steadily, at head height across the room. It wasn't a light from outside, because it passed behind me."

It was as if a pure white marble was moving in a straight line, through the air, on it's own.

I'm intrigued by the figure that `fell' through the floor. You saw it's face? What did it look like?

As for the mist, camera-wise, that's in the same bad books as the orbs. But as there appears to be other phenomena taking place at the barn, again, you might have something.

It's a predictable question, but, do you know anything about the barn's history?

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to find out as much history as possible. I know there was a Roman Road at the back of the barn, and that it was used as a trading point. Also the 'war of the roses'was in this area. Henry 8th used to stay in a manor down the road from us. I also have some of the recent history; A fire in 1812 - and I have copies of insurance details from that time. (all hand written!!)

The apparition; yes I saw its face; blurred because as soon as I saw it, it fell through the floor. Man-definitely. But the wierd thing is Ive just been watching Psychic live and there is an advert for 'Hugo' he is wearing the same kind of cloths. It looks like a brown cloth 'skirt'? and hooded long sleeved top. He looked shocked and his hands were raised at shoulder level. Thats all I can say at the moment. But several people working up there have had tools go missing on a regular basis.

I can understand what you mean about the photos of orbs, but for the same one in different areas of the house, and on different areas of the photo? bit weird.

A slightly different point: renovations and structural changes have been known to set off hauntings where there have been none before; they can also cause an existing haunting to cease.

I am also not convinced by 'orbs'.
Of all the pictures I've seen, only a tiny minority appear to be a real phenomena.......I did post elsewhere about my friend capturing orbs in daylight on 35mm in a crop circle.......

Yeah.. you can see yourself you have a haunting..
i suppose it might sound obvious that someone may have lost their life in the fire
of 1812...but it's interesting the ghost went down through the floor. i only ever read of this once in "hauntings and apparitions" published by the society of psychic research...
Is it a case for mr.Ancora? lol.. i certainly think you need a good medium to try to establish just what the reason for the haunting can be..Intersting history to the area..
interesting to see orbs with the naked eye.. i take many shots at a couple of spooky areas near me.. but i only get the orbs there.. if it was my camera..i wonder why its not everywhere..
i take it the haunting is only in the barn..
it does sound like some one seeking attention.. thinking of how things go missing etc.. must be a cry for help.. by the description of the clothes.. sounds medaevel or a peasent ..it is v.interesting.. hope you let us know more..

Hi all, Thanks for your replies. More stuff heappening - our painter and decorator was up there yesterday. He was on his own and we have not mentioned any of this to him. He was having his dinner, when the spotlight ain the hallway started to swing round in circles. (they are hanging down on wire at moment so we can paint under them) The doors were closed, no wind, none of the other spotlights were moving. Then it suddenly stopped and a loud bang from the utility room was heard. He was not happy about working up there on his own, and left after about half an hour! Regarding the orbs - like I said they have not just appeared on camera. I have seen them with my own eyes. I have seen them bobbing about and moving gently throught the air. I have even seen one literally sat at the side of someones temple while I was talking to him. (conversation was a bit weird cos' I couldnt concentrate when theres an Orb sat there!!)
