I know this is extremely far fetched and against both instinct and morals but there is only one way to stop the crisis humans have sent the earth into. We need to force ourselves into extinction. I know i know, nobody would go for it but think about it what do WE have to lose, its not like we wouldnt get to live out our lives, all we would need to do is stop reproducing and bang in about 100 years the earth can have itsself back and start to flourish once again. if you really think about it humans are the slime of this planet, we abuse everything it has to offer and give very little back. we drive thousands of animals into extinction, cut down entire rain forrest, dumb our co2 into the atmosphere, pollute the oceans and ruin its lands. Im just hoping some crazy scientist develops a "virus" (note the quotations) that willmake it so humans can not reproduce. think about it what do we have to lose?

Whats the point in another Empty Planet? Especially if there is no-one left to enjoy the earth???
And whats the point in saving Earth if there is no-one to inhabit it?

Well, scientists say we're just as "natural" as other animals. So all that's happening is nature. We're not doing anything different than other animals, just following our instincts I guess....
Ok, seriously. I don' t agree with the above, but I do agree we're destroying our Earth.

Maybe earth's resources are meant to be used.
Destroying the earth is a lot harder than you think What makes you think earth is having a "crisis". The earth will be here long after we are gone - alive and well.
QUOTE
Destroying the Earth is harder than you may have been led to believe.
You've seen the action movies where the bad guy threatens to destroy the Earth. You've heard people on the news claiming that the next nuclear war or cutting down rainforests or persisting in releasing hideous quantities of pollution into the atmosphere threatens to end the world.
Fools.
The Earth was built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-tonne ball of iron. It has taken more devastating asteroid hits in its lifetime than you've had hot dinners, and lo, it still orbits merrily.
So my first piece of advice to you, dear would-be Earth-destroyer, is: do not think this will be easy

No we are not. Human beings and life on Earth is a miracle if you take a step back , take a deep breath, and realized the wonders of life. I think it would be more of an insult to NOT use and abuse this planet. Earth is here for humans and the animals. We use it and abuse it. Thats life. Life feeds on life.

hmm, what alot of negativity. All this guy is saying is if there were no humans left on the earth, it would be better off. There was no talk of destroying the earth; mentioning that we're ruining bits of it is a far cry from total destruction (although a nuclear war would come awful close).

I wouldn't go along, but have heard this type of thing Many times. You're not alone with these thoughts... some in powerful positions, many social programs, those concerned with overpopulation... many others lean and pursue that direction.
And I am in opposition to all of them.
How about we just halt the advancement of medical science? People that 100 years ago would have died from things they're living an extra 20 pollutant producing years. Don't use any medical knowledge that came from Nazi study. Unban drugs, repeal seatbelt laws, encourage smoking... so many things you could do to acheive your effect while reducing the slavery component and calling for out and out direct harming of others.

If this Universe is just some holographic, on shell projection, and really just a masterful cosmic illusion, I say let's ride it out as long as we can. Besides, for all we know, we are the soul of the Universe, allowing it to self-reflect. Without us, the whole thing would have been a sleepwalking dream.
And, besides. We can not predict the future for the planet, say ten thousand years from now. For example, if we run into the fractal end of a giant molecular cloud, it will leave the world with a chance to start over, anyway. And yes, our galaxy has plenty of things down the road, possibly, for this bubble we call our heliosphere, our home.
I say we just do the best we can. Our energy supplies that fuel modern civilization may one day be less plentiful, and that will put pressures on populations. So, don't worry.
Too much idealism is not always a good thing. But, some things are certain. We do put pressures on the environment- pollution, over use and exploitation of fish and wildlife. Somethings are worth preserving, by treaties and restrictions.
The next problems will probably center around potable water shortages. That is one big problem that will confront China, with all their development. It is not just their population, but over-industrialization. The irony is they used to be considered to have some aesthetic affinity with nature. They need to get back to that.
I suppose if you took away the incentive for modern economic growth, they would drop their population about 30%. So would the everyone, if we took away the recent advances in cereal grain production, the main food staple of the world.
Telling modern economies to reduce population would mean no viable social security for retirees. Some already have that problem- Germany, Japan. That is a tough thing to sell.

you dont need to kil everyone just people over a certain age, those with life threating disease, anyone awaiting jail (or life sentence) an danyon eon welfare for longer then 6 months with out explanation.
also castrate all males born in the 1980s an dall females born in the 1990s or do a year rotation wher all boys gat castrated every second year eg boys born in 84 86 88 90 etc and girls born in 85 87 89 etc get castrated
also make a rule where you have to be married to have kids then outlaw marriage and make marriage illegal apon penalty of death there you go population control
or just nuke the world if you dont have time for above
or just wait til 2012 and see if the mayans were right
but if you cant wait that long

Guys, R3LOAD does NOT propose to kill off the human race,...or anyone! Read propery! He's just proposing a temporary reproduction restricition, which could readjust the size of the human species to a size that the environment could sustain. And he could be closer to reality that you think! Overpopulation is the biggest mosty serious threat to us; combined with climate change (manmade or not), water shortage & crop failures on a massive scale are a distinct possibility in the near future. BTW, forced population birth control is not even fiction. The Chinese have done it for a couple of decades (One child family). They're smart.
