I originally posted this as a reply to someone else's topic so I apologize if this is a repeat for you.

I have experienced sleep paralysis a few times throughout my life but it has gotten considerably more frequest within the last year and a half(since I have moved to NYC, new apartment, etc). These experiences are usually very scary and troubling for me. Usually it starts with me laying bed trying to sleep and all of the sudden there will be a very noticable shift of energy in the room - a pressure and instantly I feel like something is in the room almost always my fears are directed to a certain corner of the bedroom. This is not a good shift of energy either, there is a malavolency about it that scares me. Sometimes it starts to happen with sounds. I will hear sounds like a chainsaw or loud banging and frequently I will hear voices. I will be laying there peacefully and out of nowhere a voice will shout HEY! or say my name or say something totally random. A lot of the times when these things happen I cannot move or talk and the feeling of dread just becomes stronger and stronger. Eventually my limbs will start to loosen and I will be able to utter sounds trying to call to my husband. Also sometimes while this is happening I will have - visions, for lack of a better term. I will see our living room - the other night I saw the living room and a man sitting on our coach. Another time I saw the living room and watched as two white figures walked into our bedroom. I really don't know what to make of these experiences. I don't know if I am just in a half-dream, half-wake state and this is how my anxiety and stress is manifesting itself or if this truly is something paranormal. Sometimes when this all occurs I feel like I am wide awake and sometimes I am not paralyzed - my eyes are open I am looking around - typically looking over my shoulder a thousand times to see if anything is there. This is when I go fetch my husband and make him lay with me until I fall asleep.
Does anybody else have anything similar happen to them or anyone have any ideas or input as to what I could be experiencing here?
Thanks for reading my post!

Hello Gaia227,
Welcome to the forum.

Well.... the first thing, have you seen a physician about this? Sometimes these symptoms can have a medical reason you've already stated that you wonder if it's stress related and it very well maybe.
If you haven't had other unexplained experiences in the apartment then you really might want to consider it as such.

Or do some background research on the apartment building and find out if anyone who might have lived there or in the building matches the description of the man you saw. Write down you experiences in detail (dreams too) keep records of these things for yourself.

And you aren't alone in it just read through the threads and you'll see. LOL!

Regards,
Mabon.

Offense is the best defense! Get mad at these entities (if that is what they are). Tell them that they are not allowed to be there, and if they wish to stay that you will start charging them their share of the rent and utilities. Tell them to get out unless they can cough up their fair share. P.S. It is your fear that drives them, so don't display any. Realize that you are in control. Define a boundary that they cannot cross. For instance, the boundary of your building would be good. Take charge!

There are no entities. Its just sleep paralysis like you said Gaia. I have it to. Stress and anxiety do contribute. Ask your doc maybe for tips to relieve this.

Hello hun, let me start off by saying there's nothing wrong with you. BUT it is supernatural. They are spiritual attacks. Spirits a.k.a. demons attack those in their weakest state. Sleep is your weakest state. I have experienced everything you have explained. Not being able to move or speak. Focusing on a certain area in your room. I don't want to frighten you but that usually means there's a spirit or demon there. Also, calling out with your spirit voice and not getting an answer. Great fear. Sometimes I'll close my eyes but I can see my room. Everything as if they were open. That's usually when an "attack" happens. Or you invision forms and hear sounds. Or even feel things. Sometimes it's pressure on the chest as if someone is holding you down. Or it's a touch..very cold. Not so friendly touch. It may feel threatening. It isn't. Are you a religious person? maybe something in your past has happened. I would suggest a prayer. I'm a Christian, and there's power in the name of Jesus. If this happens to you again I challenge you to call out the name Jesus. It's a holy name, and demons hate it. Don't rule this as a mental or stress related problem. Attacks just don't happen for no reason. They usually happen when something is going to change in your life. Or you suddenly find joy. They will do anything and everything to steal that away. You just have to be wise and strong and don't be afraid.

Some added info, every spirit (excluding angels) are demons. Ghosts aren't people that have lost their way. Demons can take the form of anyone past and present. They also can sound like a loved one and a friend that may have passed away. Those audio recordings (or E.V.P.'S) of "people" aren't people and it's not their spirit. They use it as a focus tool, away from God. People are so into "ghosts" and "spooks" and that's the point.

"There are no entities" Who are you that your word is seemingly final?
There's so much you don't know. So how can you assume? Doctors can't fix a spiritual issue.
All doctors do is give you pills that cause your liver to give out in the future.

Gaia,
Hello. If I were you I wouldn't be afraid. I wouldn't listen to christians (or satanists for that matter) about anything about this. From what I read it sounds like a phenomenon called sleep paralasys and the beginning stages of an out of body experience.

It's my belief that nothing negative can happen to you while you're out of body. I've experienced brief fear that I wouldn't return and as soon as I did - I returned. I've also experienced strange sounds and the feeling someone was behind my shoulder when I returned as well.

About the "entities" and the fear you experience. If you think they are negative, don't be afraid because they may think its funny and feed off of it. Just believe you are a good person, ( though there is no such thing as a bad person, only opposites of what you would choose to be) and send the entities some love and kindness. See what happens.

Remember, everything you feel/do comes from either fear or love.

Hello, I'm new to the boards here and just felt like sharing my thoughts and experiences on this.

Sleep paralysis can be caused by a number of things. Maybe it's supernaturaul, maybe it's just naturaul (sleep paralysis can sometimes run in families or be passed down, my mom has it and so do I.), in the end it's up to you to decide. But if you're really scared (and it can be downright terrifying) it never hurts to call upon your version of God or..whatever to help you. Assuming it's not supernaturaul it's caused by, from what I've read someone correct me if I'm wrong, the parts of your brain that control voluntary movement shutdown so you don't move as much or injure yourself while sleeping. With sleep paralysis sometimes you wake up before that part of your brain can turn on. I've spent about five or more minutes it seems in my bed wiggling the only part of my body I can when it happens, my toes or raising my eyebrows up and down to get my body to acknowledge that I'm awake. It's more of a pain in the a*** then anything else.

I had something like what you experienced a couple of years ago when I was about 16. I had a dream that I was in a one room apartment and was in the kitchen part. In my dream I was seeing everything through my eyes. I wanted to make a love potion so I took a pot and filled it with water and set it to boil on the stove. I dropped rose petals, lavendar and a drop of my blood into it. As soon as my blood hit the water it began to boil rapidly and white/gray smoke started coming out of it. I stepped back and when it cleared there was a tall man dressed entirely in black with white hair and the brightest blue eyes I can ever remember seeing, in dream or out. I remember getting very afraid in the dream and yelled at him to get out. He rushed at me and threw me onto a bed behind me and started to try and molest me. I tried to fend him off while I closed my eyes and whispered "I want to be awake." When I woke up I couldn't move and it felt like someone was laying on me and carressing my body. Then I asked the Goddess to protect me and it stopped.

I would chalk it up as just a freaky dream with sleep hallucinations since I have a history of sleep paralysis, but it happened for like three nights in a row after that. Wierd thing was that I would just be dreaming normally, as in most of the time when I dream it's out of body and I watch it like a movie, but then somewhere in the dream I would see him like in a crowd, or once it was in a house of mirrors and my watching of the dream would go from third to first person and I would run from him, when I awoke I would be paralyzed and feel like someone was touching me. I can't remember if I said or did anything the third time it happened though that would have seemed to have made it go away....although now I just have sleep paralysis. disgust.gif

Hope this helped any. happy.gif

Well there is a documented phenomena called sleep paralysis and you'll find that a lot of people on this board have experienced it and do suffer from it on a regular basis. Even the most spiritual people here concede that SP is not paranormal but a normal sleep disorder. If you are going to continue to argue that it is only demons that cause sleep disturbances, you're going to have a disagreement on your hands.

There's no need to be rude to anyone. Everyone has their own experiences and no one has the final answer, however SP is a documented and actual sleep disorder that is not paranormal. Neither of us can say for sure what the OP has experienced with 100% accuracy now can we?
gaia227
Yeah.....I am not really concerned they are demons. I have learned from reading through the posts that a lot of people do suffer from this and have pretty similar experiences. Thanks to everyone for responding with good advice and input - I appreciate it.

Hey Gaia, i no exactly what u are experiencing, i use to have it 2-3 times almost everynight, i'd snap out of it try go bak to sleep only to have paralysis come on me again, often i would just be drifting into sleep when i can here the t.v going or a song come on and then i'll think to myself hang on i left none of them on why am i hearing this, i can't move or open my eyes and i get the scarey feeling of something evil being with me, often if i try to get past the fear it gets worse.
Alot of people try to say it's cause u sleep on your back and some kind of chemical forms in your brain but it doesn't matter which way i slept i always got it, i could be hugging my partner and ill get it and try to moan to him to wake me (freaks the poop out of him), the weird thing is i haven't had it for atleast 2 months now where as i always got it before, i also found sleeping in certain places would bring it on more, lyk i always got it when i slept on my mums couch.
One lady on unexplained mysterys told us that we were lucky because she had trained for 7 years just to be able to get into this state so she could have outer body experiences, so one time i did manage to get past the fear (i'll repeat the 1) and tried to have an outer body experience, i thnk i got my arm out (who knows but it felt lyk i had, was to scared to try the hole body lol) but then i chickened cause i don't no how to protect myself properly incase something else was there, lyk wat eva it is that makes us feel so scared when we go into this. Another time about 11 years ago i was asleep when i woke with sleep paralysis and something was walking on my bed by my head i could actually feel the mattress being pushed down but i couldn't move, then all of a sudden i just sat straight up and yelled out f### i dnt no why i did that because i was scared sh**less and trying to move, so where that came fromo i have no idea, i also use to wake up to my bed shaking but once again i could not move and would have to try get past the shaking to try move (i think i got more use to the bed shaking than i have to the waking with the feeling of something evil there). So i don't no if this was anyhelp but i personally think it has got something to do with the supernatural, and science has not comeup with a good explanation for it, i also do not no why suddenly after 13 years of getting this it has stopped, mind you it's only been about 2 months so we will see.

iv never believed the scientific theory and iv talked to a lot of people on the subject, none of them have ever said anything like getting flashes, is it possible for you (or someone) expirience sleep paralysis and somehow tap into their phychic senses? iv heard of people doing astral projection while they are asleep, so is it possible use phychic abilities when your in sleep paralysis?

I think that it is quite possible, but the main thing is getting past the fear or the evil feeling (which is not easy) to be able to maybe experiement and try to tap into our psychic senses, lyk i said one ladys trained for 7 years to be able to get into this state so that she can experiement with the supernatural, so maybe if we were taught how to deal and handle and protect ourselves during sleep paralysis we'd be able to, but what has taken her 7 years to learn somehow comes to us naturally and we do not no how to control it.,

I had 'sleep paralysis' regularly from being about 11 to about 17 years of age. I would wake up and be completely unable to move. I would feel pressure on my chest and I sometimes saw a face above mine (sounds daft but the face always looked like a giant cats face) Sometimes I would 'feel' other presences in the room (usually around the bottom of the bed) I would be terrified, it also always felt like the things that were there were trying to communicate with me but it was just out of my grasp what they were trying to tell me. I truly believe that it was something that was there and not just a state of my body being asleep but my mind being awake, I really could feel them in the room with me. It hasnt happened for years and although it was really scary I would love to experience it again now that Im a lot older just to see what I make of it all now.

I get this sometimes...(not the paralysis)....in that state hovering between being awake and being asleep, sometimes I will hear a voice say a couple of words. Sometimes a voice will say my name.

The other morning in that half awake/asleep state I heard a voice. I tried to stay in the vibe, and someone said, 'hello'.
Then, whoosh, I woke up.

The funny thing is that I only remember hearing a voice, but I knew it was a black girl (around 12 yrs. old) who spoke.

It wasn't threatening or scarey on this occasion....but I have had frightening stuff happen as well.

I think it happens when you have a 'foot in both worlds' and this can be a vunerable time. original.gif

Not one bit.
Inner Space
I shared a little on another thread about experiencing SP pretty much most of my life. How I got over the fear was quite by accident. One of my passions is neuroscience (yes...I am a nerd hehe), and I started experimenting with various brainwave entrainment applications. To my surprise, I was able to induce SP within minutes, only this time, with my awareness in tacked, I understood what was really happening. I had induced a theta brainwave state, (a state just before and after sleep (delta) which can induce vivid imagery. Brainwave entrainment, (aka audio/visual entrainment) has been studied & researched for decades often using Buddhist Monks as their subjects. These Monks were monitored by EEGs, and in all cases the studies showed that these experienced meditators were able to achieve this (theta) brainwave state at will. Achieving this state of mind at will usually takes years of practice and discipline via meditation or focus, however...one can achieve this state using sound frequencies and/or pulses of light. You can experience profound bliss, see and experience things of the subconscious and beyond, especially at 7.83 hertz. Actually entrainment has always been around in nature. When you are sitting at the beach, watching the waves roll in one by one, your brainwaves begin to slow down. Endorphins and other feel-good neurotransmitters are being released, which is one of the reasons why people feel so good after being at the beach. Our ancestors were able to achieved these states by repetitive drum beats or watching the flickering of a fire. Ever wonder why rock-n-roll makes us feel so great? thumbsup.gif Anyhoo....I am now using advanced brainwave entrainment technology, which is actually quite simple...repetitive pulses call Isochronic tones. Some are now calling it the worlds first digital drug... w00t.gif rofl.gif . It works, that's for dang sure, and I believe it can help many to dispel the fear of SP. The next time you experience fear during SP, change your thinking while having the experience, and the oppression and/or the fearful imagery will dissipate. Like I said in one of my posts...just go with the flow, observe it like you were watching a movie in the making, only remember...you are the director. wink2.gif Don't worry about not being able to move or feeling like you can't breath...that will pass quickly once you let go of fearing the experience. BTW...you can purchase Isochronic CDs or even buy inexpensive and simple-to-use programs to make your own sessions. Just Google. original.gif A quick note of importance: Brainwave entrainment is very safe, however...people who have epilepsy, are pregnant, wearing a pacemaker, have had a closed-head injury, are under psychiatric care or who are prone to seizures should NOT use brainwave entrainment. If you have anymore questions on the subject, I will be happy to answer them as best I can. Hope this helps.

Just an FYI...if you are interested in trying this technology...be sure to do your homework first. There is a lot of marketing hype on the Net, and many are just interested in getting your money. If you find sites that want you to enter an email addy or have single paged web-sites that go on and on, promoting their products...my advise is to go some place else. Seek out Brainwave Entrainment (AVE) forums. You do not need to spend a lot of money for this technology, 20 bucks at the most for a single CD. Also, make sure the producers of these CD's have tested their products with EEGs, to insure quality.
