( I'm sorry if my English is poor )

Does anyone have some more information about The Goonch, a great and terrifying fish in the waters of India, near the Himalaya's? Goonchs, or actually just major catfish, are widely known throughout the world. But stories of a much bigger fish are known aswell, a gruesome monster which Indian people think is equil to the Yeti. I do not know exactly where the river is, but i just wanted to know something about this legend.

The first stories started when a ceremonial cremation was held by indian priests and monks by the river. Bodies of dead people were burned so they could burn in nature and start again with the endless circle of reincarnation. After the burning the remains of the bodyh were thorwn into the river, where fish would await to have a bite. All of a sudden such a big fish came swimming that some people described as ''as big as a full grown great white shark'' ( note: there are no sharks in this places in India, or dolphins or any other specie people can mistake the fish for ). While all other fish swam in terror, the fish opened his mouth, maybe two meters in length and full of sharp and big teeth. The beast consumed all the remains in one time. The priests fled the scene.

Anopther acount is that of Man Sighn, a herder who held sheeps and buffels. While they were travelling to a nearby town, his daughter was standing with some buffels which were drinking at the edge of the river. From nowhere came a big fish which Man describes as never seen before. He did not see the head, but his body was about 5 meters, and his tail was sweeping louldy in the river while he pulled a buffel in the water, pulling him under and wounding him. Some days later stripped bones were found on a nearby riverbank.

The most terrifying account of the beast were of a man called Bagar and his son, who were travelling from one village to another to sell trade goods. Hungry and tired as they were, they decided to stop by a river to have some rest. The father ate something and started smoking while the son went into the water to play. After some minutes the boy started screaming: '' something has got me, help! ''. The boy was beieng pulled under but came to the surface multiple times while screaming for help. The father was too late. The boy was never to be seen.

I just want some info about this great but scary Goonch, thanks happy.gif
