I dont think the world is coming to an end ... naw...
But, with all these things going on in the sky, the magnetic field changes, shifts, environmental changes, new planets in our solar system, the total eclipes also due that year, all the solar events, Venus transit, etc, etc.... oh...and we're supposed to be hit with Helium winds too (NASA info again).... with all the above... I just had to vote OTHER.
We are, after all, made up of the same substance as the universe (so say physics)... so with all going on in the Universe... you have to wonder right??? I don't reject the understanding that we are not 'greater' then the substances we're made of...which are the substances of the stars. If 'nothing' is going to happen, then you have to wonder why all these Ancients point to this time of history for 'significant' changes... and you have to wonder what a co-incidence it is, that all of these stellar events are gonna go down then too?
I mean after all, back in the day of the Ancient, when it was hard enough to survive... they sure put a lot of time, resource, energy, thought and human muscle into making sure these temples were created, these calendars and their stories carved into their walls, their cities built to the stars, etc.... seems a great deal of effort (if not the entire purpose for existence)... so it seems that whatever reasons they had were hugely important.
Nothing is proven until it's past, but ... what say all of you when you google up the NASA pages, HUBBLE pages, USNO pages, etc... and they show that all these things are happening? And then you google up pages on the Ancients (mayan, sumarian, olmec, inca, aztec, egyptian, indian, asian, etc, etc) and you find their creation myths, folklore, holy books, inscriptions, glyphs, etc... point to this time of history? Isn't it all too co-incidental?
I didn't pay attention to the hype of year 2000 either (the Y2K scares)... cuz the Ancients didn't write about crap like that - that's all recent man made stuff.
They've left us calendars, temples with astonishing mathmatics that match solar/planetary movements, archeological sites with structures made before metals that are things we can't create today.... we can't match their knowledge of the stars (even with our technology)... so when several Ancient cultures leave prophecy about heavenly movements that cause Earthly changes.... I have to pay attention.
I vote 'other'.

I have a personal discomfort with 2012. Many years ago, I was given the age I would die. And it's going to come in 2012. I knew that more than 12 years ago, before I learned about the Mayan calendar and everything around 2012. I have a reoccurring dream where I'm dying from an explosion. It doesn't effect all the world, though, so life don't end. It's just that many people die, and I'm among them.
I didn't pay much attention to 2000, but 2012 – I can't help but feel that something is going to happen. It could be just personal, but who knows.

Dearest Ann - not that it's worth anything out here on the Internet, but ...
I don't think you're gonna die sweetie.
I think it's impossible for someone to give such a prediction about someone else's being...or not being.
I hope that you haven't carried such a thought in your mind this whole time since it was first told to you.
Again, personal contact to convey such an idea is stronger then contact via a digital page, but...I hope you'll take this for what it is. Just the idea that someone who doesn't know you can sincerely hope that your heart carries a lighter idea then death for yourself.
I think changes are coming yes. But I think the only real 'death' will be attachment to what we 'think we know' is real.
Hugs, hope and light to you dear.

I think nothing will happen. Remember when people said the world was going to end in the year 2000? That was a bunch of crap. And so is this one. I'm 100% sure. Sorry if I'm offending anyone, but this is just my opinion.

Thank you, your words are very comforting, and you are probably right. You are right that I should not take it as an absolute truth, and I try not to. Again, thank you, your words mean a lot to me, and I do take them to heart.
This information was not given to me so much by a human being, as it came about from a predication that has already changed and postponed. It's hard to explain. It's part of a scenario that has come to pass in the past years, quite accurately. But again, you are right – I don't take this as the absolute of what is about to happen, and I'd like to believe that whatever changes to come, they will be positive ones.
Much love to you as well, and again, thank you for your kind and positive words. It's not an easy thought, and every positive word helps.

It would be totally cool if something of the magnitude others suggest did happen--transcendence, enlightenment, asteroid impact, global catastrophe--but, in reality, I don't think anything will either. Remind me to go to the store on that day too, like Celumnaz, 'cause I'll prolly need milk.

Kind of strange story about 2012. Not long ago, some roofers were working on the roof of a Walmart Store. A UFO jumps over the top of the men working on the roof. (Sorry, I forgot what town it was in). Two of the workers were whisked away in full view of their boss and co-workers. I believe it was something like 40 minutes later, they are returned. Now this was in full view of several other people to verify it all!
After the men were returned, and ever since whenever anyone mentions the year 2012 both men break out crying! They did indicate that they were shown
that there would be massive earth changes in weather and what they describe as a partial "pole shift" of the planet earth that will have devastating effects.
I read about the Walmart roof abduction story a few months ago, but the story described here was featured last night on coast to coast am with George Noory. Just thought I would add this for you, as it was interesting. It was kind of disturbing that these two guys cry whenever you say 2012! AHHH.

i think that Zeus and the other Gods will return in 2012.
The Gods of the ancient civilisations are the same person, every civilisation named them with different name
Mayans or inkas did the same, dont forget that inkas means atlantas.and they are children of the lost atlantis.
the calendar isnt a mayans calendar, they didnt live 7000 years before.
its a calendar of atlantes.
So,my opinion is ...
Zeus is coming back

Lets hope that he isnt as bad as he was thousand years before.
He refused any technical help to humans.
only his sons helped humans.
thats my opinion

On the day in question there is going to be a rare atrological event. It occurs once every 26,500 yrs. The earth the sun and a black hole deep in the middle of the universe come into alignment. Thedre is a thought that our last pole shift was caused by this exact sequence of events. Even a small shift could have devastating results. This could include earthquakes, tidal waves, and a variety of other natural disasters. This is the end of the 5th cycle of 5,300 yrs it could be a very long one for humanity.

Nothing outside of the normal will happen.
I never understood why people put so much faith in such ridiculous ideas. I mean really, some of the things listed here are completely retarded, based entirely on subjective faith and blind will.
Throughout all documented history how many times has humanity been right with ideas or theories based entirely on faith? Close to nill. Its that kind of ideology thats holding back humanity as a whole in my opinion. Why should society look forward to or wish for a spiritual gate/tunnel/being that will enlighten everyone at an unknown time BUT ITS COMING when you can spend that amount of time on improving the world or your local community in the form of society, laws, structure, ideas, etc. that will DIRECTLY influence your lives and those around you.
I mean really. You might as well will for mutant carrots to wisk you away to a far away fairy land filled with bubblewrap canoes.

I'm betting that at least one person gets really drunk and dances naked around the room. well, not so much betting as warning. Yeah, I'll be 38 years old by then. Father time and gravity can really do a number on the human body from what I understand.

Actually, The mayan calander post made here, the man "Ian" who spoke of this has it right.
The 5th Day of the new time is Febuary 10th 2011, and the night of the 5th day is October 28th 2011.
So what ever is going down. is in that time range, Atleast what i know of.
Its not that the world is ending, its new "Time" Or Era.
But the thing with the whole 5th day and 5th night thing is that. every new era on the 5th day (with starts at 2007, or NOW!)
Something good happends, like the neaderthuls created fire on the 5th day, then the 5th night was the ice age.
So whatever good is going to happen is going on within 4 years. Then the bad comes. well atleast its supposed too.
So the better question being, what do you think the bad is?
WW3?
APOCOLYPSE?
who knows, maybe nothing. maybe something great like the return of the lord jesus christ.

I just don't understand why people put so much faith in something that came from a dead civilization. If they were that all-seeing and powerful and could forsee the future, why are they extinct? Seems to me if they had those special qualities, they would have found a way to keep their civilization intact.

It fascinates me - a group of people, hundreds of years ago decided to create a calendar. They apparently got bored with it and quit counting when they reached 2012. And now there is a large group of people who think they knew something we don't. Think about it - weren't these the same people that assumed it was correct to sacrifice virgins to their gods?
I think i'm correct when that is the day that the zodiac completes full circle. Not when they decided to quit counting.

the Spanish didn't seem to think that the Mayans were to advanced when they killed them all and took their gold, did they? there is only credit given to them because they aren't around anymore. their extinction makes them seem so much more fascinating, because nobody bothered to document anything about their civilization before the Europeans finished enslaving them all. because we know so little about them, we present them as some mystically advanced group of people. in 5,000 years when America and half of Asia minor are nuked to crap, maybe we will be seen as some kind of "Atlantean" civilization with our mysterious "electricity." nothing [significant] is going to go down in 2012, take my word for it. if my word isn't good enough, fine, go on spewing nonsense about the end of the world.
oh, and i enjoyed the fact that the ben affleck choice got more votes than end of the world.

It was the Egyptians who came up with the 26,000 year cycle. And it does end in 2012. The sun is due at any moment to give birth to a magnetic shift. Our earth is surrounded by a gigantic insulation that protects us from the rays of the sun that operates from our magnets just like all other planets and the shift in the sun's magnet will cause maybe 'sunfreeze.' I think it will happen 11/11/2011.

Jun 29 2007, 01:11 AM
I'd like to add one more thing having to do with the calendar we use now. nothing happened on 06/06/06 and nothing will happen on 07/07/07, or any #/#/# days. those days are based on the Christian calendar, on the basis of time after Christ. it has nothing to do with significant astronomical events, so it is almost guaranteed nothing will happen. it would be more likely for something to happen on days based on astronomical events, such as solar magnetic shifts. even those aren't perfectly accurate, however. the sun doesn't shift its magnetic shield at regular intervals, nor does the earth. therefore calendars built upon such intervals still aren't a great way to predict something.
