It unreal that this kind of crime takes place. Students were there to learn in a safe enviorment and some crazed gunman comes in and shoots all those students. Not only the families were effected by this but, all the students who go there are now victims of crimes. I pray for the loved ones who have lost their children. If anyone needs a place to talk it out try http://www.crimevictimsforum.com it is site started to help the victims of all different kinds have a place to go and express there feelings. Some victims like me could just not talk to anyone and I found being able to word it on paper helped tremedously. If you are out their and just need others to hear you out please don't wait until things become worse, get it out today. Please remember all of those who lost their life in this terrible shooting rampage. Why do you think people do this now days? Twenty years back you didn't have the same type of violence we do now. The biggest thing to happen at school was a fist fight in the hallway now we have so much to worry about. no.gif

Not to make light of the story, but violence on mass scales have been common throughout history. There's nothing new in it. We're just more efficient at it...

Get ready because it's about to get worst. The action in that students mind is very explanable , psychologically, who he was ,how society treated him and the out come was predictable. Think if you were not excepted, if you were unsociable, and the American dream did not seem possible, You might do the same thing. unsure.gif

We also have news providers who revel in this kind of thing so that they can sell papers or get more viewers. If it wasn't sensationalized, it wouldn't be something that certain types of people want to emulate-or surpass.

Really i guess Hitler must have watched nightlines how to catch a mass murder.

People are born with the ability to do unspeakably horibel and evil things if a TV show pushes them anuf to throw them in to a rage they where more then likely already ready to to some thing els would have pushed his buttons at some point.

The buck isn't some thing you want to pass, keep it because you wouldn't have it if you didn't deserve it.

I don't think that's what she meant, bigdog. I know she's not suggesting that this guy was reacting from something he saw on TV. But you can bet that the 2 kids in 2 seperate school districts just in MY local area who were arrested for bomb threats the day after did. And that probably happened at countless school districts all over America.

Last Friday my daughter's school was closed because some of the students had posted on MySPace that they were going to make Colubine and VT look like a practice session.

Yes, people see things on tv and want to try and out do it. Sometimes they just want to feel like a big fish in a little pond and running their mouths makes them feel better. Other times, they actually take action. You have to be very careful in this crazy world.
Affliction
People feel dissatisfied with the world and feel as if their greatest purpose can be making a statement against what dissatisfies them.

I've created a thread on Art therapy for the Virginia Tech shootings. Post your artwork..if you want to..

Sorry to break it to you, but this happens all over the world on a daily, even hourly basis. Humans are violent, and sometimes we love to just kill each other for no reason. 20 years ago it didn't happen? Actually, 20 years ago was absolutely no different from now, at all. We were killing and dying in other countries for no reason,. and we were killing each other and dying on the streets and even in supposedly safe places for no reason too, just like today. 200 years ago we were buring women alive left and right for being in league with a fictional devil, and torturing was a daily practice. 2000 years ago we were throwing people into pits with lions and barbarians and cheering at their bloodshed.
This event is just another stamp in the bloody reign of man.

I agree with Burnside, this, sadly, is nothing new. The arena might have changed, the violence still remains.
