insurgence type defense? are they stupid?? first of all the only reason the iraqi insurgence is winning the war is because US is not on the path to erradicate ALL iraqis or Muslims.. that will not be the case with the Aliens if they do indeed decide to attack. they won't care if they kill every last one of us humans and rendering us extinct as long as they can take over the planet... if the united states have that same policy of genocide, just shock and awe the whole entire mid-east region untill all people of islamic faith is dead, that way the war will truly be won. this would also be the logic of the aliens. how can there be any insurgency if all humans are rendered extinct??

You have nothing to fear from UFOs. They are mostly found in remote locations, lightly populated, and they silently glide along close to the ground, below the radar. Most or all contacts have been accidents. For instance, one of the cases presented in detail in
The Humanoids tells of an encounter by Professor Johannis (in 1947, just a few weeks after Roswell). This happened in the mountainous province of Friuli, the most NE piece of Italy. Like many Europeans, the Professor was fond of hikes in the mountains. Einstein and his friends liked to do that, BTW. Using his climbing stick, which had an ice pick as the handle, he climbed to a high and deserted valley, where he found a bright red disk stuck in the mountain side. Flying saucers had not yet made the European press, and the Professor was thunderstruck. He saw some boys a little ways off and he ran over to them, shouting incoherently and waving his walking stick. As he came close, he realized to his horror that they weren't boys. They were not of this Earth! They had an earthy green complexion, with lemon green, bulging eyes. They were the size of boys, not very tall. They wore bright blue coveralls, with red cuffs. As Professor Johannis came up to them, spluttering in consternation, they released a gas which partially paralyzed him. They then took his stick. He was able to turn over to see the red disk, which emerged from the cleft in the rocks, undamaged, with an explosion of rocks and boulders. It hovered silently for a moment and then rapidly disappeared into the distance.

In many ways, this is a typical case. Although he was given a good fright, Professor Johannis was not harmed. There are many instances of people temporarily paralyzed if they appear dangerous, but nothing worse.

One of the things that puzzled the early Ufologists is, "Why don't they make official contact? Why don't they land on the White House Lawn?" If you know anything about anthropology, you will know that such full contact between advanced cultures and primitive cultures often causes the disappearance of the primitive culture. With all their creation myths destroyed, they have not the heart to continue living. Let us suppose the star-traveling humanoids ARE anthropologists. After all, they carry no weapons, and have never attacked a human or an airplane or anything else. Thus, it would be part of their morality to leave the primitive culture alone, while studying it unobtrusively. They are also interested in our flora and fauna and the geology.

It is hard to define "spiritual evolution" but I would say anthropologists are more evolved than missionaries, though the latter are religious and pious, while the former are not. Missionaries destroy the native culture in their well-intentioned efforts to introduce them to the "true god." Anthropologists and other scientists try to save what they observe, not destroy it.
The Professor Johannis encounter is a chapter in the book

The Flying Saucer Review.
