user posted image rTwo experienced airline pilots at the controls of separate flights have reported seeing a mystery object "up to a mile wide" hovering off the coast of Alderney on Monday, This is Guernsey reports. Captain Ray Bowyer, 50, of local airline Aurigny, spotted a "bright-yellow light" 10 miles west of Alderney at about 3pm during a flight from Southampton while his aircraft was 30 miles from the island at 4,000ft.He recounted: "It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was 2,000ft up and stationary. I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a [Boeing] 737."But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide."Continuing his approach to Guernsey, Bowyer spied a "second identical object further to the west". He said: "It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey. I can't explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.

"As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible. I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety of the passengers first. I'm certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I'm saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying."Bowyer described his sightings to ATC. Paul Kelly, 31, the duty air traffic controller at the time, said "nothing had appeared on his radar", but that he'd received a "similar report" from a Blue Islands pilot en route to Jersey at the same time. Kelly explained that as the pilot went past Sark he "described an object behind him to his left".

The observation of captain Ray Bowyer UFO is really impressive for several reasons: day time, huge size, low altitude, nine minutes of sighting, passengers and other crew to confirm the fact….

I am a retired Air France captain, well known in France, to have seen, with my crew, a huge UFO over Paris on 28 January 1994, which has been identified by the Defence radar for 50 seconds.

The characteristics of this UFO were: lens shape, altitude 35 000 feet, 500 meters wide, brown red, one minute of observation, and dematerialization…

More information: http://baseovnifrance.free.fr/afr3532.php

This case has been officially identified by the GEIPAN depending of the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES) in Toulouse: http://www.cnes.fr/web/4461-geipan.php

In 60 years, all over the world, there are a total of about 1300 UFO observations which have been made by civil or military pilots, and 15% of these observations have been confirmed by radar.

A really scaring reality!...

If the UFO seen by captain Ray Bowyer has been identified by the British Defence, or the French Defence, you have to know that this radar identification could have been classified, for several weeks, or months…

The air lines pilots, and public, need to be officially informed about UFO which seems not to be dangerous if they are not aggressed…

Jean-Charles DUB..., welcome to UM, and amazing inforation! Anyone see a rise in UFO cases lately?

It's a shame that neither pilot's inquisitive nature was strong enough to go and take a really close look and take some footage. If I'd been a passanger on the plane I'd have been snapping away with my camera, I wonder if any photos were taken?

I probably doubt it since tightened security on airplanes forbid even a common toothbrush these days. I assume the pilots didn't wanted to endanger the passengers nor cause a panic by approaching the UFO, in the event it may become hostile.

The world needs an up close and personal experience with a U.F.O. If i ever see one i hope i don't freeze. I want to have the presence of mind to take pictures, and do whatever else to document the sighting. The sightings that i believe in most come from the tiny little articles you see in newspapers that people glance over and forget about a few minutes later. The sightings that never make the news or mass media. One for instance that i remember every once in a while is the U.F.O sighted by a group of hikers in the mountains of Banff Alberta. They said it was diamond shaped, eminated heat, was following along a pathway adjecent to theirs, was semi-transparent, and seemed to have little regard for ther humans watching it.

If ever you come across one of these tiny articles in your local newspaper have a look at it because they are always very interesting and are more likely to be true then the major sightings of disc shaped U.F.O's that are always far away, disc shaped, etc...etc...

I don't know how freely can pilots fly airplanes maybe Jean-Charles DUBOC could lighten me with this. I assume that it wouldn't be ok for a pilot to go examine an UFO with multi-million dollar airplane and hundreds of passangers onboard. Also hello to everyone, just joined the forum.

Welcome to the Forums Moonsquirrel and Jean-Charles.

Pre-set flight plans are always set, Especially in the Post 9/11 era - Where if a Jetliner goes of its predestined course, suspicion often arises quite quickly.

Very credible sighting overall.

innocent.gif France has decided to reveal whatever they know about UFOs. So there is no government control or censorship about UFOs in France.

Well, I guess we have 5 options here.

1. The pilot saw a Extraterrestrial Aircraft piloted by being from another world.

2. The pilot saw a object from our future travelling back in time.

3. The pilot saw a object a mile long that some country on this planet is clandestinely constructing.

4. The pilot saw the planet Venus.... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

5. The pilot is lying.
Please Explain

Thank you for your comment and for sharing what you saw. I saw the CNES web site but I am unable to read French, and when I select English, not as much information is provided. I also read the translated COMETA Report - found here: http://www.ufoevidence.org/topics/Cometa.htm, but unfortunately the images were not included in the translation.

On a note of this topic, it was TWO PILOTS from different aircrafts that saw TWO UFO's in relatively the same area but they saw them from different angles. I wonder if any of the passengers that were on these planes saw it and / or tried to get pictures of it. Hopefully we will read more on this recent sighting.

You may be on to something...either that or perhaps the people in France are simply more outspoken about things they see that defy explanation?

ManISgod
Although I do not discount the posibility that the pilot saw an extraterrestrial vehicle, it is possible the the pilot observed a natural phenomenon that occurs due to a combination of heat and pressure conditions...

That said it is also possible that it was an aircraft, however as the pilot wasn't close enough to make a defenete eye contact, i would have to conclude that it was a mirrage.

It might be. Or it could be a cloud formation, lit up by a hole in a higher layer of clouds. I thought the original observation that started this thread could also be an unusual cloud lenticular cloud formation. Especially, since the mile-wide UFO didn't move or do anything.....Cebrakon

if it is a ufo why does it have to be so damn big and imtimidating, why dont they just keep sending little ships, a big one seems more like a invasion one, or one preparing for an invasion.
incarnatehellraiser
Hi Jean-Charles DUB im from guernsey myself, and i saw your account in our local paper. I deem all of this credible, but that is just me.
space_man
Hi, 4 an object of that size, a whole country would of seen it, and not just 2 pilots. A mile wide. that would b like having another moon in da sky.
