I read this thing in a book about the Left and Right Brain. It seems that our Left Brain is the rational and conscious part of our being while the Right brain is our artistitc and unconscious side. It seems that most of us relies on our left brain a bit too much because it restricts us.

A case in point is that when a person is hypnotised, the right brain is allowed to take over and thus the person is able to do almost anything that he normally cannot do; the left brain is no longer in charge and thus limiting him.

That got me thinking, it seems that the more you concentrate on something in order not to mess up, chances are, you will mess up (courtesy of the left brain). But the more you "go with the flow"and do something without almost thinking about it, it will usually turn out well.

I remember having dreams in which I was writing down something. I don't remember what I wrote, but I do remember I was writing down something very profound and using large words which I do not normally use. I was amazed at what I was writing. Then I realize it was a dream and the moment my mind acknowledged that it was a dream, I remember my writing started to "slip" and the dream eventually ended. Kind of like when I am dreaming, my right brain is in charge and I am capable of writing all this stuff, and once I realized it is a dream, my left brain kicked into gear and it all go down the drain.

Am I making sense? blink.gif

it's kind of like, if you second guess yourself, you're usually wrong

I'm still weary of what we actually do understand about the brain, i think alot of the "facts" we have are more so a guess then anything...

I'm pretty musically inclined. I write songs constantly, dittys, tunes, riffs, and some long compositions... the BEST ones I've ever done were in dreams. In my dreams I hear tunes and wake up and scribble them down... and they sound pretty derned cool. The ones I write during the day, when I'm full awake... I kinda construct and fumble through and re-arrange... the dream ones come out pretty much complete without me needing to redo much if anything at all. Pretty neat.

You're definitely making sense, KayEl! I can think of many times when my left brain has messed me up. Makes you wonder why people have a left brain. Why not just a double-wide right hemisphere? thumbsup.gif

Actually, there's probably advantages to both sides, but I wish I could just turn off either side at will. grin2.gif

Could you make out ANY of the words? Numbers and letters, at least in controlled linguistic settings (such as English) are controlled by the left side, for comprehension. Though your right side probably conveyed the letters as art, as caligraphy and such. I find kanji and other Eastern lettertypes to be very artistic, but have no meaning to me, because I don't understand kanji.

Example:

L

You see the letter "L". Your left side realizes it's a letter that corresponds to many languages and textual references.

You see the letter "L", however, it is not a standard L, it is composed of other elements, the colors and the style. The "L" you see here is moreso percieved as an artistic render of the letter "L". Don't look at it as a letter, look at it as a drawing. It loses its meaning as a letter, and thereby is now controlled by the right side.

Just a little tidbit I thought I would share original.gif

I don't remember what I wrote. But I think it has something to do with philosophy or something like that.
