Sorry if I overcomplicated it wacko.gif I was just wondering lately what the most popular type of RTS is, since there are so many types, and what people's favourite RTSes are happy.gif I realise civilisation isn't an RTS, but it's close enough original.gif

Personally I prefer small scale RTSes, where you have to manage your economy as much as your military; micromanagement. I don't like squadron based RTSes as much or RTSes where the economy is pushed aside and the game focuses mainly on combat; I can't stand "area control" RTSes, as in Empire Earth 2, although Civilisation is OK and so is the Total War series, though strictly speaking they aren't RTSes.

My favourite RTS would have to be Starcraft; terrible graphics, substandard sound imho, but killer gameplay with killer campaigns and a decent storyline to boot. Age of Empires 2 comes a close second, Age of Empires 1 a third.

Please state why you chose whatever you chose tongue.gif I'm pretty interested in what people find fun in an RTS game... thanks grin2.gif

StarCraft MMO blasts into orbit
Blizzard's new sci-fi MMO is set to rock the world later this month, CVG has learned

The long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG can reveal.

Well placed US sources have revealed to us that the StarCraft MMO will be unveiled at an upcoming Blizzard event on May 19 in South Korea - the epicentre of the sci-fi RTS series' rabid fandom.

The unveiling of the new instalment has previously been rumoured for the South Korea event, though we now know that the title is in fact an online spin-off and not a new RTS game as previously assumed.

Of course this is massive news for both Vivendi and the MMO world; Blizzard's other online offering World of Warcraft has topped 6 million subscribers and is arguably the biggest game around today.

The question is, is there room for both World of Warcraft and a StarCraft MMO? The later will have to be a very different type of online game to convince gamers to subscribe to both of Blizzard's pair.

We will of course let you know as soon as soon as Blizzard officially confirms the game on May 19.

I don't like WoW but for some reason I want to play this just to be sure its true, and then blow my brains out. I still have hope for better news though ten more days and we will know what really is going down.

Weird, i'm interested to see what it's like. sounds like its just a different version of WoW. i think it might be cool, making the world more space oriented. maybe you will be able to fly around in big ships. either way, doesn't really matter for me cuz if it's anything like WoW, it will run at 1.2 fps on my sh**ty comp just like WoW did after i wasted my money buying it.
