ALBANY, Ore. -- These guys weren't exactly Snap, Crackle and Pop. What began as a faint popping in a 9-year-old boy's ear - "like Rice Krispies" - ended up as an earache, and the doctor's diagnosis was that a pair of spiders made a home in the ear.

"They were walking on my eardrums," the boy said.

One of the spiders was still alive after the doctor flushed the fourth-grader's left ear canal. His mother said her son insisted he kept hearing a faint popping in his ear - "like Rice Krispies."

The doctor said it looked like the boy had something in his ear when he examined him.

When he irrigated the ear, the first spider came out, dead. The other spider took a second dousing before it emerged, still alive. Both were about the size of a pencil eraser.

The boy was given the spiders - now both dead - as a souvenir. He has taken them to school and his mother has taken them to work.

*faints* deargawd.... I'd need to be sedated.. then I'd tape my ears shut forever...
Bill Hill

Jesus, a simple bath would have dislodged the spiders..don’t these people have baths?
Oh wait,
On closer inspection- the story is from Albany and the name of the boy is ‘Jesse’
mmh that explains it then.

"It was real interesting, 'cause, two spiders in my ear - what next?" Jesse said.

Yep, whatever next Jesse...oh whatever next..

lol Me to Nyx. I couldnt handle that. Reminds me of the story from that old TV show "Night Gallery" about a guy who had an earwig crawl in his ear then into his brain then come out the other ear. Problem was she laid eggs in his brain. That story still freaks me out. crying.gif

Oh. my. god.

I have chills. The bad kind. I don't mind spiders, but I would mind if they decided to live in me. And most likely reproduce dontgetit.gif
Ashigaru
I had a beetle crawl in my ear once. God that ****ing hurt and it sounded horrible. I was paranoid for months, if anything touched my ears I would freak out.
Star_girl
*revives after fainting* Can you imagine how it looked when the live one ran out of his ear??? *faints again*

That is so disgusting. Makes you paranoid even hearing about something like that. This reminds me of another case where eel was living in guy's nostril.

Moonsquirrel
Also if that happened to me I would probably duck tape my ears shut for the rest of my life.

Well, the average human is suppose to eats at least 8 spiders in their lifetime, during the night when asleep, so I guess they could crawl anywhere.

For a spider to get into your mouth while you're sleeping, (a) you must have your mouth OPEN, which is certainly not universal, so there's a big chunk of people who can never swallow anything; (cool.gif there has to be a wandering spider in your immediate vicinity, also something which--for most people in the civilized world, at least--is a fairly rare occurrence; © the spider has to either jump or fall into your mouth from a long distance, because they won't go near your mouth otherwise (they're not suicidal), and the odds are pretty astronomical of a spider randomly dropping into your mouth from the ceiling. http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mspidereat.html

Yeah yucko. I dreamt something similar once a few years ago so I might share the dream just for fun.. This is what I dreamt ages ago.. just cut n pasted..

I dream't that I had little white baby spiders in my left ear. I pulled out one and thought..bloody hell! and crushed it I think. Then I felt another and pulled it out too. . I could feel the panic rising(as you would)lol, but I thought I kept quite calm after realising that I had a nest of them hatching. tongue.gif Anyway I woke up after the third spider was coming out but wasnt too worried cause I was happy they were coming out at least. It was weird.. I just kept thinking how the f**k did this happen.

Ah the memories. original.gif

Whoever wrote that doesn’t understand arachnids. Most house Spiders are attracted to warm moist places.. they will seek them out- which is why you might find one in the bath. Ever notice if you spot a house spider in your room, if you don’t kill it.. it’ll try and make its way toward you because you’re a good source of heat.
There’s a spider video on youtube somewhere showing a House spider drinking the saliva from a sleeping man’s mouth.
Also think how many spiders are near you at any given time.. between the walls in the cavities, under the flood boards.
The male house spider has to wander to find a mate- and the female spider has to wander around to find food.
Still, depending where you live of course.. in the UK the spiders are harmless. Learn to love em I say.

Take one sleeping man-
