I'm just curious if you're willing to increase the sizes of avatars allowed from 115x115 to, say, around 160x160 or 165x165? It's not that bigger on-screen and allows for us to upload much more interesting, and visible pics.

I often find myself squinting at someones avatar for a moment wondering what it is.

OR: other forums I'm a member of automatically scale the avatar which saves time for us re-sizing the avatars ourselves (it's an even bigger b**** when the avatar is animated, then you need a special program, else the animation doesn't work...)

Whatcha think?

Pretty pweeeeeeeeeeease?

Yes!!! Pritty please!!! this will make things much more interesting when scouring the web for nice pics!

There are currently no plans to change the default avatar size on the forum.

Avatar images already automatically scale however, if you upload an image that is too large it will automatically resize it to fit the 160x160 dimension guidelines.

Ah crud. Don't mean to be pushy, but can I ask why? Bandwidth issue?

(and I didn't know about the auto resize...I remember trying it ages ago...is it something new?)
Saru
The reason is because we have a set size limit that has been used for years, we can't just change it on a whim. Everyone knows what it is and have designed their avatars around it, including most of those produced by the animated avatar workshop. It's not something that should be changed.

The auto-resize isn't new as far as I know, I think it's been around for a while.
Mad Manfred
Ah ok, gotcha. It's not something I was really pushing for...just thought it would be nice.
Saru
Sorry about that, thanks for the suggestion though. thumbsup.gif
