" As my experience with human remains serves me only to a point, I will say the apparent section I am working on is a ribcage. Extending from the ribs are multiple sets of bilateral appendages (the "arms") that appear to be the fins of an enormous whale (click for info on whale anatomy (http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/mpm/mpm_whale_limb.html). It brings to mind that prehistoric ancestor of the whale, the great basilosaurus (http://www.corvettemuseum.com/deep_creatures/basilosaurus.htm) - but dwarfs it in size. Yet something about these appendages also suggests wings (click for info on wing anatomy) (http://www.wfu.edu/albatross/activity/winganatomy.htm)

However, with a colossus of such size, and such a massive "wingspan" - if they indeed are wings - would have made its flying capability close to supernatural. "

"An artist’s rendition is always open to a certain degree of discussion – especially among Paleopathologists. That, said if this drawing (which we only received yesterday) is even remotely accurate, this animal is massive, a biological impossibility - and yet there it is, buried in the rock for untold centuries, apparently over 200 feet long. The cavity structure of the fossilized remains suggests it was most certainly reptilian, possibly amphibious or even avian - but none of it makes any sense. As for the apparent wing anatomy, that debate continues. This is a creature that stands outside the known animal kingdom, and will perhaps require years of study to fully understand. We are now at a point of actively seeking outside help to decipher this mystery. So for those of you interested, I invite you to join the confusion."

I suspect that this is a hoax. Iran is not a great place to do science, and there has been no confirmation by other paleontologists. I have also heard that this may have been part of a viral marketing campaign for the video game "Shadow of the Colossus".

Still the evidence fits in with the grainy photos and third-hand eyewitnesses (it happened to someone who knows someone I know). Who knows? Its still nice to dream.

Those pictures are just advertise for PS2 game [post="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_of_the_Colossus"]Shadow of the Colossus[/post]. There also a video where some people are "digging" and find a huge fossil.

Quote from wikipedia:
Unlike Ico, Shadow received far more exposure, due in part to Sony putting its weight behind a massive advertising campaign. It was advertised in game magazines, on television and on the internet, including a viral marketing campaign that was launched by a website called "Giantology" in October 2005. The site posted links to several websites claiming that the remains of five giants resembling certain colossi had been discovered in various parts of the world. Some speculate that Ico's sales figures could have been improved if similar advertising efforts were made before its release.

They look really fake.

This has already been proven to be a hoax.

It almost seems like an online game for those in the know.
Interesting that the site has been updated, yet no new developments for some time.

Never knew what sort of hoax this is, cannot be real, but sure is interesting what this mob is actually up to. I have noticed the underwater giant has disapeared from the site too.

Has me curious to say the least.

Interesting. The photo work is good, whether it's real or not. You are right though, Iran is not a good place to do that sort of work.

Good Journey.

Yep, you sure did. And it sure was thumbsup.gif

Still, the webpage has been updated since then, with no new info, just a little rant.

This one sure is a mystery, I'd like to know what the big picture is. What is this bogus site trying to accomplish?? Surely someone wouldn't attempt to fool a new generation already? Maybe someone else has picked up the torch. I dunno. The lack of new giants (and apparent loss of one) seems strange.
This does not seem to be connected to Playstation as first suspected.
