For a while now I've been thinking about experiencing a 2 day fast. I attempted once, but broke it within a couple of hours; but I wasn't serious at that attempt.
Last night, I convinced myself I would do it for the next 2 days. It is mid day on my first day, and have been up to my word so far and won't give up till tomorrow night.
Now today in my cisco class, my teacher randomly starts talking about how he hadn't eaten all day because he was busy, and ends up talking about fasting & his experiences. I've never heard anyone around here ever talk about fasting or mention it since my stay here (moved here recently to attend college). As soon as he started talking about it, I said to myself "wtf... this can't be a coincidence". I figured there has to be some sort of connection between my intentions and his random timing for bringing up the topic. I figure it could be some sort of hint to help me push through this.
What do you guys think? Coincidence or something else?

Isn't that cool? I love when things like that happen to me lol. Sometimes there is more to something than just a coincidence.

i would tend to lean towards coincidence. if they had said the same thing at another time, you wouldnt have even really taken notice. i myself have gone 3 days without eating or speaking. drinking was allowed, of course, but it was definitely still a wierd/tired feeling by the end. drinking water or something whenever you get hungry definitely helps. tell me how your fast turns out. oh, and nice sig by the way.

Yep. Jung thought synchronicity lied somewhere under the collective unconscious mind. A place where everything and everyone is seemingly interconnected.

Once, way back when, I was switching tv channels and stopped at a Monday re-run of the Johnny Carson show. George Burns was being interviewed so I watched for a while. He was talking about the old Burns and Allen tv show of the '50's, mentioning some specific episode. After a while I started switching channels again and stopped on our local channel which happened to be playing re-runs of the old Burns and Allen show...I watched for a moment then realized it was the SAME episode that George Burns had been talking about with Johnny Carson.
All these were random events that somehow came together in relationship. That's the best example of coincidence or whatever I've experienced.

Thanks for that link. I was surprised to notice Jung being mentioned, since I started to read about him recently. I totally agree with the responses. I believe that we are all interconnected at some level. At the time I wrote this thread, I was in such aww, I never stepped back and thought to myself what it could be.
I've had this happen a couple of times. But, somehow I never really looked into the possibilites. I think I'm gonig to continue with reading some more of Jung's work, when I have some time to spare. The book I started was written by Murray Stein sometime after Jungs death. It's called "Jung's map of the soul".
My fast so far has been going as planned. It's 6pm and I don't know if I should stop tonight or wait till tomorow morning to have a lite meal. Right now, I'm starting to feel tired, but it hasn't reached the point where I struggle to do something. My eyes feel heavy, and I haven't felt hungry since last night. I drank apple juice, Arizona Green tea w/ ginseng (could explain why I'm still awake. I also had a lot of regular green tea with little sugar.
Thanks to all for posting & the comment about my sig.

Coincidence is most likely. I do 2 day fast every year. In fact I'm doing one at the end of this month...so it's not that unusual that more people are doing them too.

I see what you're saying, but what I was trying to show is the likeliness of the professor talking about it the same time I was planning to do my first (actual attempt) at one. And for him to randomly bring it up during a networking class is not likely. I guess you can say it was a 1% out of 20% chance; which leaves room for the possibility of a coincidence.

Well let me put it another way. I don't think it's anything paranormal

i still don't think its anything beyond a kind of coincidence. and for one, i think the collective unconscious theory is baloney. i recently read a book i borrowed from my psychology teacher by the name of Possible Impossibilities. it dealt with parapsychology, and primarily ESP. at one point, it put forward the supposed psychic connection between married couples. one explaination it put forward was common experiences. for instance, they both see a car of the same model of the neighbors'. this unconsciously reminded them both that they were planning on inviting them over for dinner. the wife puts forward the idea of doing so, and husband replies, "i was just thinking the same thing."
using the same type of logic, one can explain away the occurance mentioned by StarMountainKid. perhaps it was an anniversary of some significant event in george burns' life or the shows existance. two tv executives obviously both noticed the same thing and began to air reruns relevant to the same thing. the fact that they were both reruns opens up this possibility. if a live or premier show mentioned something that was on as a rerun, i would think otherwise.

I believe in synchonicity. It was a series of "coincidences" that led me to attend a public talk by an Indian Guru and during that talk I had my spiritual awakening in the form of "bolt" of energy smashing into my chest and and exploding in my heart as incredible love.
First, I was invited to visit a friend on the west coast for two weeks. He worked during the day so I was free to browse the bookstores in San Francisco.
I bought some books on Chi Kung and started to experiment with it.
I started to experience a quantum change in my vitality. I was literally junping up on to tables and feeeling SO alive - it was incredible.
Then I got invited to a party and talked to a stranger there.
I mentioned my experience to this woman and she was a Reiki teacher and suggested I meditate on the energy.
After a week of doing that , spontaneously my index finger moved up my body and drew this energy along with it.; from my stomach upwards.
When it reached my neck it just stopped - and everything went bad; I became totally depleted of vitality and felt sick- very sick.
There was something non-physical "stuck" in my throat and it made me feel really really bad - and scared.
It lasted several days and all the time I had this irrestible urge to do the meditation again but each time I tried it I had the same bad experience in my
throat.
Finally I decided that I had to get medical help. I happened to find an old yellow pages in the trash can and looked up CHinese Doctors - since it was the Chi Kung that started it all, I thought they could help me.
There were TOO many chinese doctors to choose from - so I got a crystal pendant and let it decode which one to call ( dont ask me why I did that! I dont know)
So it chose a doctor and I called his number. He was busy with a patient , his secretary said.
She started to talk to me about spiritual stuff and out fo the blue strongly advised me to go to a free talk by a well-known Guru in Oakland ( Gurumayi)
She was SO insistent that I relented and agreed to go.
As soon as I entered the place and sat sown, the "energy" stuck in my neck just flowed out of my , thru my feet and I felt normal again.
Then the talk started and someone started to teach the audience how to chant a mantra ( whats this?, I thought). SO i went along with it and closed my
eyes and started chanting.
Suddenly a female voice started to sing on the stage - and at the sound of her voice I saw ( with my eyes closed! ) a woman in red.
She stretched open her arms and with that movement I bolt of energy struck me!
I openend my eyes and omg! there was a woman in Red on the stage
That was the start of my spiritual journey.
