Quite a few years ago, when I did hairdressing, I was perming someone's hair. Now, because I was standing behind them and they spoke softly, I didn't quite hear what they were saying, so I improvised.

The conversation went something like this:

Customer: "A few years back I was a hard case"

Me: *laughs* laugh.gif

All goes quiet, the customer's shoulders stiffen. I stop what I am doing and realize I had better ask her to repeat what she had said...

Customer: "A few years back I had a heart attack"

I could have died! I did explain why I laughed and what I thought she HAD said, she found it funny which was a relief lol.

Anyone else have a story to tell whereby they have said the wrong thing, because they misheard in the first place?
