A man by the name Mel Waters supposedly found a never-ending hole that possesses paranormal powers. Also may be a wormhole to another dimension/alternate universe. Although it has never been found, the story sure is interesting, and believe or not, the search comntinues to this day.

Take a look at my nickname... Obviously this story has cracked me up for a long time.

I grew up on Manashtash Ridge.... Mel's hole doesn't exist, but Mel spins a great story. I can't believe people are tromping around looking for his "hole" hahaha. It's not there folks. grin2.gif
FTW
Its a good story though original.gif

I don't think that the WHOLE (not hole. haha) story is fabricated. I do believe Mel lived on the ridge, I think I even know who he is. My guess is Mel was a bit daft, and I THINK he may have been a moonshiner... there are a lot of them up in them thar hills. haha.

There's also an abandoned mine shaft that all the locals are aware of called "Chinamans Hole" it's quite deep and kids used to love to chuck stuff down it (it was mostly a boy thing. haha) I really think Mel knew about Chinamans hole and I also think he was a little nutty, and probably drinkin' his own moonshine. Combine that with the fact that there is an Observatory on the ridge and a military firing range very close by I think Mel decided to spin a good yarn based on all those things. It's a good story, but it's just a story.
