...and then some jackass has to throw an ignorant stereotypical comment like this in.
Do some research, it's happening in more places than the US.
"The prevalence of overweight and obesity in the United States makes obesity a leading public health problem.
The United States has the
highest rates of obesity in the developed world. From 1980 to 2002, obesity has doubled in adults and overweight prevalence has tripled in children and adolescents.
From 2003-2004, "children and adolescents aged 2 to 19 years, 17.1% were overweight...and 32.2% of adults aged 20 years or older were obese." The prevalence in the United States continues to rise." "

I have to agree that the parents are to blame. At some point they had to know that something was wrong, either the girl was overeating or there was a medical problem. Was she not seeing a doctor for regular check ups?

I wasn't being rude, simply pointing out that if you don't know the rest of the world is quickly catching up with the US you haven't look anywhere but at the stats of the US...which obviously, most people don't. This is so wrong! What kind of parent does not see that this child has a PROBLEM! For GOD sakes she can't even walk she waddles on her butt. And then someone walks by the camra (mom) and she says something about popcorn. YOOOOO get your kid to a doctor you jackass's! And why has child services not done anything with this? I'm sure since it was on t.v. that some service for children would have seen this. Yes the parent's are alot to blame for her condition so the little girls cry's for food well give her something healthy to eat like fruit or veggies andd if she dont want that well let her cry she will stop sooner or later.

Incredibly stupid. Incredibly sad.

Your wrong if you think this graph indicates mortality rate, i.e. Japan as a high rate of stomach cancer, Portugal has a high rate of lung cancer, etc. i think the greeks have one of the longest life spans in Europe
Would i be wrong in thinking the Swedish have one of the highest rates of suicides?

Really it isn't that fortunate. I am sure she will suffer permanent health problems the rest of her life from this. At that young age she is still developing. i am sure the growth plates in her bones are seriously damaged by the stress of the extra weight. And all of her organs, what they have had to go thru to accomodate the extra weight that should not have been there is indescribable. Her heart alone has had to pump much harder than it was intended to. Her lungs, look, the poor kid can't breathe now. Her whole body is being starved of the proper amounts of blood and oxygen for a child that age. This is the improtant time of her life for healthy growth and sadly it is being wasted becuase her parents didnt' do what they should have and sought help when she first started to gain this awful mass of weight.

Well no part of this is fortunate in the same way as, say, winning the lottery. Being that obese will wreak havoc on your body in different ways at any level of development, I'm just saying that she (hopefully) has plenty of time left in her life to conquer this and live an otherwise normal life. She can have a lot more hope in beating this than someone who's 45 and been battling obesity since 30.

She is 7 years old. How is she bringing it on herself? She has been this way for a few years now. Are you saying when she was 4 and 5 she should of known to ask for a salad and non fried foods, etc? It's bad parenting, not her fault. Children learn what they live. It is just rude and childish to laugh at others misfortune, specialy a childs.

I am deeply sorry that your too much of a wiener to tell it how it is. The last thing people need to do is tell her thats OK to be that fat. and its not hard to say I dont want any more food. shes 7 thats old enough to refuse food. if you can walk and talk then your old enough to take care of yourself in certain areas like refuseing the last piece of cake or the extra bowl of ice cream when you ate to much before hand. If they cant survive on there own then they don't deserve to survive at all. its natures natural selection weed out the weak and useless and have a strong species. too bad it has not gotten to some people yet.

Nobody told her it's ok, and as i said she is just a child. Quote if you can walk and talk then your old enough to take care of yourself in certain areas like refuseing the last piece of cake or the extra bowl of ice cream when you ate to much before hand. End quote. Not true as I said she grew up this way. This is learned behavior and since
she is only 7 how can she know? As far as saying Quote If they cant survive on there own then they don't deserve to survive at all. end quote How many people do you know can survive at 7 years old.
