Cult Hammer horror films will return to the big screen after the company behind the movies was sold to a group headed by Big Brother creator John de Mol.
At least $50m (£25m) will be spent on new horror films after British company Hammer Film Productions was sold to Dutch consortium Cyrte Investments.

The new owners have also acquired the Hammer group's back catalogue.

It includes almost 300 titles such as the famous Dracula series, which made actor Christopher Lee a household name.

The company was bought for an undisclosed sum.

Should be better than all the Wicker Man and Omen remakes we've had recently.

hahah WHAT!? You can't bring back Hammer. They were awesome because of the period in which they were made! They're sleazy 70's movies damnit. If they made Hammer Horror now it'll just be more crappy insta-horror like the last two years of crap.

And besides, you can't have Hammer Horror without Christopher Lee!
louie
I used to love them whan i was a kid.

Yeah, a big reason that they're great is because of the time that they were made. Besides, I've already had far too much of this horror movie remake stuff. If they feel compelled to do that, why not just rerelease the old movies in theaters? An older Lee might make an interesting dracula, though.

I Loved the old Hammer "Dracula" movies....

I'm sure they will be alot more blood and gore than the originals, but who will play "Dracula" ?

Cannot see how they measure up.....maybe they should leave well enough alone...

I think that it is a good idea.
All the lastest remakes have been absolutley shocking.

And I mean that in a bad way, not as in scary

you rock, Dude

... you can't even touch this, er... I mean that.

THOSE

I agree with that Wolf chick, they should just leave well enough alone because remakes are never half as good and the old movies have become of they own genre "untouchable".

I do think they should re-release them. I for one have never seen any on the big screen.

I think that would rock.

Oh I don't know... Doctor Who, Randal and Hopkirk (deceased), all where re-made and done very well. (critical acclaim, even). OK, they where series rather than films... but it demonstrates that you CAN breath life back into an old format, if you have the right scripts.

I don't think they're necessarily going to 'remake' old films, but rather make new ones ? ?
