Family vigil at wrong bed - taken from Sydney's "Daily Telegraph", page 5. Saturday, May 12, 2007.

An elderly man sat beside a dying woman in hospital he thought was his wife for three days before he learned of the mix-up.

The confused man and his family held a bedside vigil for the wrong woman, severely injured in a car accident in the intensive care unit of Melbourne's Alfred Hospital.

Meanwhile, his wife was in the Austin Hospital being treated for a minor condition.

Family members who went to the Alfred Hospital looking for the woman incorrectly identified the ICU patient as their loved one. The two looked similar and the ICU patient's face was obscured by tubes and machinery.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but it just seems so absurd that this could happen.

well it does not alot but it does happen.

I mean what would happen if you had a crush injury to the face so u are unrecognizable Like "MASH" on greys Anatomy (the chick who got hit on the head while preggas at that ferry thing)

but yeah i think that guy may need to speak to someone after all this. Its great the real person is ok but imagine what goes throught your mind while sitting next to a love done like that
