Based on the bestselling novel by Patrick Süskind, "Perfume" is a story of murder and obsession set in 18th-century France. Jean-Baptiste Grenouille has a unique talent for discerning the scents and smells that swirl around him, which he uses to create the world's finest perfumes. Strangely lacking any scent of his own, he becomes obsessed with capturing the irresistible but elusive aroma of young womanhood. As Grenouille's obsession turns deadly, twelve young girls are found murdered. Panic breaks out as people rush to protect their daughters, while an unrepentant and unrelenting Grenouille still lacks the final ingredient to complete his quest.

Apple: Trailer Site

To get a better idea of this movie you should really watch the trailer.

The movie just sucks you into it. It's hauntingly beautiful how it turns and twists. I really didn't hear about it at all till someone else that had seen it told me. Don't think I ever saw commercials or anything for it for how great of a movie it is.

I've seen it, and I liked it because it was pretty unpredictable!

I remember reading a review on this film in the newspaper the other day, it had a good rating. I intend to go and see it myself - that is if it doesn't appear in the cinema for one week and then disappear off the face of the Earth lol.

I'll tell you, whenever I go to watch a film at the cinema, I look to see what is showing and find the movie I want to see has been and gone and I have to wait for the DVD to come out.

I read the book when it came out back in ??? Must be late 80's or early 90's. It's one of my favourite books. Patrick Suesskind's power of language is wonderful. I don't think I'd want to see the movie though...So much of the story hinges on his powerful descriptions...I prefer the images I have in my mind from reading the book.

its a beautiful movie but it lacks something maybe the smell lol. Its stunning in colour and concept haunting and enjoyable but i wanted to smell it aswell lol not those icky parts though. Smell is a fleeting memory that cant be passed on like a picture or a word. this movie captures that along with the smell of innocence which is the most pure smell of them all.

but yeah see it at home maybe so you can go around the house smelling things and yourself lol

Intriguing....I'll have to check it out.
