Granny grows horn

A Chinese grandmother has a five inch horn growing out of her forehead.

The horn curves downward and looks like the stalk of a pumpkin, reports the Yangcheng Evening Post.

Granny Zhao, 95, of Zhanjiang city, Guangdong province, says it first appeared three years ago.

"At first, it was only a mole, but it gradually grew and became like a horn," she said.

Zhao says the horn causes her little trouble except to affect her vision slightly: "It causes me no discomfort, but blocks part of my view."

But her family are hoping that medical experts can explain the phenomenon.

Maybe they will just compare her to a unicorn.

o_0 it look's as if it's just... stuck on. I mean, no skin grows around the base of the horn - it's just normal.

Let's hope she doesn't start headbutting people...
Jaylen
Hmmm, looks kind of glued on. I dont think an old ladywould do that, but seriously. Look at how the "horn" connects to the skin.
ToxicLogic
I agree, it looks like it was glued on. Either way, wierd.

That's... pretty much what I said...

On another look the horn looks more like a Rose thorn.

I wonder if it's soft or hard.

As stated earlier, proabably a keratin growth. But wasn't there another documented case of a woman with a horn? If I remember correctly she lived in France in the 1800's. I believe they have the horn (or head) on display in either the Mutter Museum in Philidelphia or some museum in France. Anywho, if anyone is interested in more human anomalies, I suggest checking out the Mutter Museum. Words can't describe it.

I read a news artical (CNN or something like that) about an elderly man that grew a horn on the side of his head

it broke off when he rolled on it in his sleep but has since grown back

He thinks its just layers and layers of dried dead skin
TruthIs

Why go to the trouble of having surgery? A pair of pliers would do the trick. Grip, twist, pull! I wonder if any puss would come out...

Very funny finsup, especially that poke it with a stick stuff, lol. Thanks for making me laugh. I have extensive experience in the medical field, and this really is not that uncommon, believe it or not. I typed for doctors for years and I've seen them dictate this a lot. This is often times a pre-cancerous condition. It first starts as a mole or hard skin and it just grows. A guy had one sticking out of his chest one time I saw, he was Asian too--I wonder is they are more susceptible, huh. Anyhow its called a cholesteatoma, and people get them coming out of their ears too. I haven't checked, but I bet if you google cholesteatoma and image it, you will find lots of these, they're common really. Gross tho, huh? I think I would pick it off or sand it down or something if it was me.
