Back to question:

I wish everybody on here had some choppy past-life recalls. Now THEN we would have an interesting discussion....!

Shoplifting and lying... Pah!

If you folks knew what you'z been up to the past few centuries or so, you'd have apoplectic fits!

Innocence is just an illusion wink2.gif

Well to answer this question I would have to assume that Humans can decide what right and wrong are (if those things even exist).

What I mean is, what is a 'sin' to one person is not a 'sin' to the next person.

So I think, maybe I can answer the part about feeling bad. I have not felt bad for any of my actions for a very very long time. And even in looking back now, I do not feel bad for the way I acted. For if I had not acted in such a matter, the person typing this post would not exist.

I guess what I am saying is, while I am sure I have done a plethora of actions that others would view as 'sins'. I do not see them as such.

(Also, I am not saying that I do not make errors in judgment, I am only human. But I would never feel bad about my actions, they are who I am.)

**EDIT**
Missed the closing ')' on my 'Also'

I think the worse sin I ever did was steal. I stole a lot, but the one I regret the most is stealing from my mother sad.gif. To me, that is even worse than murder, and i'll never forgive myself for it.

Vulgarly speaking about god and a certain sexual act.

Among other things....
Celumnaz
broken all 10 commandments
participated in all 7 deadly sins

Edit: can't say any were worse than any other, all are pretty bad

Well in the eyes of Christians my worst sin would be becoming a Pagan. In my eyes being unfaithful to my wife once. She forgave me, but I never forgave myself.

I sent my 4th grade teacher an insanely disrespectful hatemail (calling her by her first name, telling her to get a life in giant capital letters).

But seriously, she had been treating me unfairly all year.. once got a 10 minute aggressive lecture for waving to a friend who was passing by during reading time.. She was a lawyer before teaching.

Maybe also one time when I was a bit insensitive with words and (without meaning to) made a girl cry.. And well, that was very stupid of me, as we all know, hell hath no fury.. wink2.gif

Although, I think for your average modern teen my record is fairly clean.. never stolen, no drugs, no alcohol.. couple fights but nothing too terrible.

Now, if we're talking about "sin" in the religious sense..

Well, I might as well be the devil's best friend tongue.gif

whatever you believe on a personal level, sin is the word for unjust treatment of others as well. some things are just morally wrong.

So, why is masturbation a sin/morally wrong ??

QUOTE(texasgirlheather @ May 23 2007, 01:38 AM)
Oh boy. I did live with my human nature at the forefront and glorified for many years, until I was showed a way out of that mess.

I have stolen, and justified it for any number of reasons. Growing up in San Diego, we used to steal from the liquor store all the time. We were little hoodlums. We stole from each other, too.

I have used drugs, even used alcohol for a number of inappropriate reasons that had nothing to do with being joyful or merry.

I have lied to just about everyone I knew, for my own purposes, to achieve my own ends.

I participated in quite a few fistfights.

I disrespected my mother every chance I got, no matter that the woman was in a pitiable position and could have been lifted up had I honored her and obeyed her.

I caused chaos whenever my will was not gone along with.

It's hard to say what was the worst, my entire life was pretty much dedicated to seeking satisfaction for myself and my natural, carnal desires.

They are all sin, they are all examples of my putting myself before God and choosing the chaotic way over His peace-producing way.

I never murdered anyone, but I wanted to a few times literally, and I have committed murder in my mind.

Sexual immorality was also present in my life.

By human standards, the worst is probably the amount of violence I have been a part of. Next might be the incredible amount of drugs I consumed in the seven years I was active in the drug culture. And after that I guess, would be the secret hateful thoughts that I used to have about people.

Although sin is sin, no matter what form it takes.

You are one heck of an honest human being heather...i love you for it...you have become such a wonderful person when you found God... wub.gif

If you're not a Christian and don't believe it's wrong simply because it's sexual, I would suggest that's because it's just simply raunchy and low class, as well as shallow.. It's not about people or who those people are it's about quick pleasure, and nobody really likes a glutton.

How do you know they don't have an education? You're just stereotyping there. (And not to be a jerk, but you spelled education wrong, which is kind of ironic).
And it's their choice what they want to do with themselves, that's called freedom.
Now, I personally don't understand why anyone would do that, but again.. it's their choice to make for themselves.

I once secretly stole 50 cents from a classmate back in school, when I was about 8 years old. I used to feel guilty for it, but then I decided that there was no physically possible way for me to go back and make it up to him, so I put the whole thing behind me.

Guilt is an inclination to correct wrong-doings, not a mere punishment to grin and bare. Disappointing that circumstances didn't allow me to correct what I had done, but it's something I'll never do again.

(Back then, I was totally selfish and immature. I didn't think about how my actions affected other people, until it was too late to correct that instance...)
Never_Hit_Nirvana
Hmmm. Don't know if I should admit this or not, but oh well.

I dont really know where to start.. If I was to list all the things that might be considered bad that I've done, then it would take awhile. But what some see as bad others dont.. like when I was about 5yrs old I stole a toy from a shop when I was on holiday in another state with my family because I wanted it, and I knew I wasnt going back to the shop. So I figured it was like a bravery thing and I was pretty happy when I was outside playing with the toy and had got away with it. I felt like the gods were smiling until my twin sister saw what I had done and told my mother and then I was made to feel ashamed by everyone. Which was pretty crummy considering I had done a brave thing. lol So I never really saw it as a sin and I only saw it the other way.. and I look at most things in that kinda light. I see crossing the line as personally empowering. Like I did it when I was in france too(I was about 12 maybe).. and I was in a shop and I stole a funny rubix cube thing(just walked out with it in my hands), and I thought I was so brave and my twin sister at that age didnt pipe up like before... like my siblings were all just surprised and commented on my bravery.

So I've kinda always looked at bad things as things which are empowering in some ways. Like I think its somewhat empowering to break taboos, so I always broke them.. I kinda tried to break as many as I could, especially in high school because it was a rush. I did whatever was bad but that was probably because I had some bad influences around me at the time. Like I once drove a mate to a house which we broke into(he did that part lol) and I just grabbed the big TV and video and we drove away. That probably felt like the biggest sin because it was just a strangers house.. and I thought how it would suck to have it done, so we didnt look around or anything, we just grabbed the easy stuff to swap for speed. So it felt wrong because it was so planned but it was also very brave and we were kinda respectful. lol.

Ummm my friends and I also stole a nice video player off the back of a delivery truck after school(ages ago) which was a laugh. We all just rode up on our BMXs to grab what we could and cover each other.. but it was such a laugh seeing my mate riding down the road with this big box on the bike frame. It was classic cause we only thought we'd go for small boxes, anyway we ended up swapping that for pot. We also pinched a purse which was in a car once which had the pin number in it which was a bonus.. so I drew out about $600 and we all spent it on video games and weed. So we used to do heaps of stuff like that when I was younger for the rush and for the cash. Another time which was funny I was with a friend who stole a cooked chicken because he was hungry.. he just pushed it down his pants and then bought some chewing gum.. it was funny because you could smell the chicken so strongely and we had to wait in line, and none of us had anything to buy.. just gum as our.. cover. lol. So stealing for us was a laugh sometimes, not a sin.

Anyway its hard to explain but I tried to break taboos alot, and what I couldnt do in real life I did in lucid dreams. And after awhile I felt like I had done everything which is when I started to run in dreams instead.

So to answer the question on whats my worst sin I'm not sure. Because I never really looked at them as sins. Like dealing heroin didnt feel like a sin.. it was just the ways things go sometimes and to be thought of as a sinner, is just kinda shallow. But I guess to most people that would probably be my biggest sounding sin. Like I have taken a life before but that wasnt planned and it was not in my heart to take the life but I did plan to deal drugs. Which sounds sinful but really it was just supplying people what they wanted. So sin is in the eye of the beholder.
borndragon
I've E-murdered many people..and didn't feel bad about it devil.gif .

Who's deciding exactly what is considered a Sin here?

Let's take pornography out of the equation (I never mentioned it anyway) and focus solely on masturbation.....Is it considered a sin and why ??

It doesn't hurt anyone and for that matter doesn't involve anyone else, it's a very personal physical experience and so, why should religion even have a say in it ??

Well, sex was meant for two people (or more..), so if a person masturbates, he goes aganist the will of god. Which is a sin.

I agree with you on that last part, you have free will to do w/e you want.

Ok then lets just say they do have an education (sorry for spelling that wrong english is my second language) that still doesn't change the fact that it's wrong.

I think, that porn just like anything else, is wrong because God has said it to be.

I actually asked IAM in my blue light dream I had ages ago about masturbation. Like He asked me if there was anything I had worried about when I was younger and I told Him I used to worry about killing the swimmers, so to speak, and He said it was fine and not to worry because it was mine to do what I wish with. So it was an odd thing to ask I guess but I was just rolling with the conversation. And after that we started talking about me having a son. It was a crazy dream, but anyway.

God has not said anything. EVEN if you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, we know it's not all correct, there are inaccuracies and impossibilities so you can't trust every last thing it says. And then of course, that's only if you actually believe that it comes from God.

But as of now, no god has said himself that sex is wrong.

Yup I am aware that not everything in the book is correct. Though I'm pretty sure everything about sex was clear. Just to let you know I'm not a christian, but yet again my own religion condemns such an act.

You are right again, he has not said sex is wrong, well not to humans directly anyway.
Never_Hit_Nirvana
Masturbation is frowned on by Christianity, thanks to Onan.
Genesis 38:9 "But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother."
LOL. Reminds me of that song in "The Meaning of Life".
And sex itself isn't wrong, just certain kinds. Go to bible.com and do a search for words like "fornication", "sexual" and "immorality". Safe to say, the Bible is obsessed with such.

I don't see where or how masterbation could be considered a sin-- seems if it were a sin a person wouldn't have the ability to "do" their own self.

*edit*
Now, to think of it's wrong to sex at all. Except with your spouse (and that can get boring for some, I suppose)... this includes thoughts, sex before marriage, outside marriage, masterbation....did I mention thoughts of sex?..

This sure seems like a heck of a lot of repression going on... why does it have to be so friggin difficult-

seems if someone was to abide their aches and pangs they would eventually be like a volcano...
