SO im driving home from playing basketball with some of my friends and I start getting a weird feeling about the car in front of me. (which is weird, I never think stuff like this, i just take it as it comes) I feel so weird about this car that i start to back off about 10 car lengths and I started thinking of this story my dad told me about premonition (where my grandma got in the other lane cuz a weird feeling about a car and then a mile later it slammed on its breaks) and backed off a little more. about a mile later the cars hood flys up out of nowhere and SMASHES the windshield and cracks it and breaks it. The car slams on its breaks in the middle of the road and stops. I obviously because of backing off had enough time to stop and i pulled over and got out to see if they needed help. I got out and started walking up and a kid from my school gets out of the car with his parents ( an old best friend) by now im really creeped out because I live in a area full of people its rare to see people you know let alone like this. Im like aaron whats going on? are you ok? and he barely aknowledges that he knows me hes like we have the worst car luck and goes and starts to hold his crying mom like someone just died (they did this all the way until I was out of sight) I was like to the dad "do you guys need any help" and he said no. so I drove off and went home. this all happened literally ten minutes ago! Im a huge skeptic as some of you know from my posts but this is very very weird to say the least. Any thoughts?

That was an interesting story!

My thoughts are...Your psychic radar (or what-ever you want to call it) seems to be in fine working order.

You call yourself a sceptic...but maybe this was a little nudge to show you that you have more sensitivity than you think.

It's no exageration to say that you MAY have saved the lives of the people in the car in front of you...and perhaps you're own...if you hadn't pulled

back. At least, saved you all from possible serious injury. Maybe the mom was so upset, not just because of the shock, but because she, too, sensed

the enormity of the situation.

It was strange that your old best friend barely acknowledged you...shock maybe? Perhaps you'll get the chance to talk to him about it sometime.

Anyway...you are alive and in one piece...and so is your old friend and his family. Rejoice! Funny old world, eh?

There are a couple of things I think it could be:

Maybe you subconsciously noticed that something wasn't right about the other car?
Maybe the story about your grandmother had some influence and the other car crashing was just out of chance?
You moved lanes for some other reason, which you've forgotten, now the change seems reliant in retrospect.
You might be making something out of chance occurances.

Awesome story. Thanks for taking the time to post it.

You know, skepticism is a practice, not a religion. Being skeptical of one side but not the other is hardly being much of a skeptic, but that's what the term seems to mean these days. That said, in the basic ontological argument over psi, there are two sides. One side says it exists, and the other says it doesn't. Being equally skeptical of both sides doesn't mean you have to turn in your skeptic card. It means you really deserve to call yourself a skeptic. So keep being a skeptic!

Agreed although I usually dont let fantasys stand in the way of rationale thinking It is def a possibility, although the feeling I had to back away from the car was pretty new to me. thanks for all the feedback guys. and yes that is true but when I say skeptic I mean I need hard facts before I believe something

Interesting how everyone says that they are a skeptic when telling a story that is difficult to believe.

I am going to say coincidence. Pure dumb luck.

Only unless it happens very often. So i would have to say luck too on this one.

By the way can a gut feeling be considered as anything related to Psi? Since we hear people talk about it all the time and it could just be a natural human instinct over psi.

Don't know about this....it's late...I've got no links or anything...but I think I've picked up from somewhere that when a plane crashes or something like this

that there are statistics to show that there is a higher % of cancellations.

I wonder how many people didn't make it, for what-ever reason, onto the Titanic? happy.gif

No being skeptical of the idea, just the fact that because it happened to him for the first time, perhaps if it happened more then once to him in his lifetime then we have something to work with.

I have a few experiences myself but its not major as that one.
Speeding for a mile then suddenly stop to normal speed. 5 miles later 5 cop cars shooting radar and pulling people over..
Happens more then once to me.

Of course there was more then one instance where i ignore my "feelings" then feeling of big trouble takes over, right after that feeling, within 2 seconds, I got myself into a heap of trouble.

I am in agreement with Affliction. I would guess that you noticed something wrong about he car on a subconscious level and that made you act accordingly. Normally there are two systems in place to make sure a car hood doesn't fly up. One is the lock that you have to unlock from inside the car and the other is a safety catch like lock that you have to unlatch from outside the car. Perhaps you noticed that the car hood was slightly raised and therefore posed a risk of flying open? Just glancing at a car or following behind it you might not notice it unless you were looking for it. You subconsciously notice the hood is slightly raised, you move lanes and the persons hood flies sometime later. I donut think there is anything too special going on here. Could it be that you are making more of the event because it was an old friend that you would not expect to see?

There are, according to one estimate, six and a half billion people on this planet right now. They are going about their lives as I type this. They are interacting with things around them. Causing changes. Making things happen etc etc . Do not underestimate the power of coincidence.

Be thankful that no one was hurt and very little damage was done. If anything trust your gut when you're behind the wheel. Maybe it will keep you out of harms way. Just don't rely on it.

Oh my gosh that happened to me. Not from your end but from the other. It is so unexpected it's as though you slammed into something out of nowhere. I was driving a chevy cavalier and I was going across a bridge (where I might add there is no place to pull over) when out of nowhere it happened. "WHAM!" And just like that all you can see is nothing. It's like somebody threw a black blanket over the whole of the front window. First it scares the crap out of you to where you feel like your in an altered state of somekind like your not quite dead yet but almost. You screech on the brakes cause you sure cant go forward and I couldnt pull off anywhere. You get out and your all shakey and you want to cry and everything. And you have to put the hood back down and all this traffic is coming and your praying no one will smack into your car from the rear. I say the family was in complete shock. But I say that was totally psycic from your perspective. How fast were you all going anyway. I was doing about 45 when it happened to me.
