As per Indian "Limca Book of Records", oldest person of India is "Habib Miyan", who celebrated his 138th birthday last sunday. He is a resident of Pink City "Jaipur" in Rajasthan state of India. People from all walks of life thronged his residence in Jaipur to greet him on that day. Miyan cut a cake, firecrackers were burst and 139 balloons released to mark the celebrations, joined in by people from as far as Indian States of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, as also chairman of the Rajasthan Minority Commission Sardar Jasbir Singh. "Kisi raees ki mehfil ka jikra kya hai amir, khuda ke ghar bhi na jayenge bin bulawe ke (May you discuss a party of a rich man, I will not even go to God's house without invitation)," Miyan quipped at his house. Asked about his eating habits, he said: "I am open to any kind of food," but added that he was a great fan of meat preparations, even if these were considered too oily for his age. "Gosht roti khao, Allah ke gun gao," Miyan said. Habib Miyan is a very optimistic person, said Dr R K Verma, an orthopedic surgeon who had treated him when he fractured his hip six months back. "He has recovered well." Miyan`s family comprising dozens of members reside in a very small dwelling and he had met President A P J Abdul Kalam during the latter`s visit to the city to appeal for a house. "I am happy that he spared some time for me." Miyan said.

I don't think he is actually 138, but we will have to see if it can actually be confirmed. Claims come in all of the time from countries where recordkeeping is not so great that people are decades older than the older confirmed living people. Right around 115 years old or so seems to be as much as humans can squeeze out of life (120 is the record) so my guess is that this guy is less than that...unless they can actually confirm otherwise that is...

When was he born? Shouldn't he be the "world's oldest man?" Instead of "India's oldest man?"
But that's old.

I have an uncle who is an atheist. He's always on the look out for people living longer than 120 years. If that really is true, then I guess that blows the biblical 120 year limit outta the water. I'm SURE he'll bring it up for discussion the next time I see him, LOLOL!

There isn't anywhere in the bible that limits man to 120 years.
In the age of Nano it will be possible to live well into your hundreds.

138 years old?!?!?! Maybe he just lost count after his 110th birthday... or... when someone tried to ask him how old he was, he might of mumbled something like "Old enough" and the other person replied" What? 138 years old?!?!" ... or he might just be 138 years old... By the picture, I would of guessed 88? I wonder what he looked like when he was a 102? (probably the same)

Not trying to be argumentative but what does the the quote below mean? I do read the bible, but am by no means an expert.
Genesis 6:3 - "Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."

isn't genesis part of old testament?
Majority of the Christians follow new testament....
Noah lived 900 years mosses lived more than 200 years...
So the record of bible has been broken long before the birth of Jesus Christ..

Anyway back to this Indian guy, has anyone looked into this story at all, I can't find anything. I am wanting to see the origional story and/or supporting documentation for his age.

In my understanding...God is referring to Mankind's existence on the Earth. He gave Man 120 years to change for the better...then He wiped out Mankind..save Noah...with The Flood.

India did not "invent" the zero alone... many other civilizations have done so, including the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Mayans.
I think he is younger, India tends to have a lot of weird people who end up being frauds, much like Japan...

You mean people like Jeffrey Dahmer, Warren Jeffs and Jim Jones? Every country has crazy people, even America, especially. I could list plenty more. America. So I think you should reframe from making stupid comments not based in fact.

Early use of something like zero by the Indian scholar Pingala (circa 5th-2nd century BC), implied at first glance by his use of binary numbers, is only the modern binary representation using 0 and 1 applied to Pingala's binary system, which used short and long syllables (the latter equal in length to two short syllables), making it similar to Morse code.[3][4] Nevertheless, he and other Indian scholars at the time used the Sanskrit word śūnya (the origin of the word zero after a series of transliterations and a literal translation) to refer to zero or void.[5]

I'd love to live to be 138, provided I was in decent shape physically and mentally. My great grandmother lived to be 103 and she was fascinating. She loved watching the news and saw things with this incredible historical perspective (I guess that's the perspective you get if you've stowed away on a clipper ship to come to America and live to watch people walk on the moon). She danced with my grandfather on her 100th birthday. She also worked (fine craftwork) for her entire life and took great pride in supporting herself.
I would love to live 138 years as long as I was still living for the last 50, instead of just drooling and thinking about the past.
