it's because. when she couldn't save her son. it could scar her heart. it would emotionally affect her.

i dont know how saving your sons life can affect you.

Maybe it's because doctors dont do that everyday, operate their family members, so it is unsurten if the doctor could handle such a pressure and it could affect the doctors performance when they are emotionally involved, maybe his hand starts to shake or something els. So they dont take that chance of something like that happening when there are other doctors around.

And im sure the doc didnt feel so good when he saw that it was his son. So he realized that he would not be able to perform this operation.

Yes It is posible because the man that die in the crash is his stepfather.
