We want to hear your nominations for this years top story. You can chose from absolute any of the news articles covered on the site over the past year - and it's entirely up to you how you judge which one it will be. Ok here are my choices:

China Launches It's First Piloted Spaceflight
Certainly the most important step forward in manned space flight this year - China is now the third nation to be able to send a human being into space.

NASA To Release Kecksburg UFO Documents
A very significant step towards the overall freedom of information regarding UFOs and other paranormal phenomena.

Space Shuttle Columbia Has Been Lost
But the most significant event of the year in my view is the terrible tragedy of the Columbia disaster back in February. It emphasises the risks involved in manned space flight, and with NASA's shuttles now grounded until well into next year, has proven to be a significant hurdle in the continuation of the manned space program as a whole.

These are my choices:

(01) China In Panic Over Mystery Bug

The introduction of SARS to our civilization

(02) Black Holes-Galaxies Missing Link Discovered

The discovery that a Black Hole is the core of every galaxy and of course the primary gravitational force balancing out each galaxy.

(03) 'Lost' Sacred Language of the Maya is Rediscovered

Even though this is a recent discovery, I think this is fantastic & very important to our civilization. This allows archaeologists and linguists the ability to decipher the Mayan hieroglyphic writings and could allow us to peer into "their world". Who knows what information can come from this! Another amazing fact is that their writing style closely resembles Chinese!

(I will say that the "Viking New World Map" authenticated and the "Columbia" Tragedy are very important as well, but these are my three...) thumbsup.gif

SaRuMaN.....

This magical place has so much information, so many ideas exchanged that it really is difficult to just pick one Top News Story.

However, after going over all of these in my mind, I cannot help but vote for one and that one is:
Space Shuttle

To me, January 16, 2003 represented the best of what this country of mine can do, as I watched Columbia liftoff, from my home here in Florida.

To me, February 1, 2003 represented the ultimate worst of what can happen in this country of mine, when those in charge fail to be adament in the performance of their duties.

The ramifications of this horror will be years in the solving.
