I don't know where to put this, so move it if you must.
i have seen about 6 cardinals in 2 weeks when i used to see none. I heard birds chirping and active at 2-3am on an almost regular basis. The squirrels and non pigeon birds in my area are also more aggressive no instantly fleeing human presence, and actually gettin about 2-5 feet away, and not seeming to scared. I've seen lots of road kill, and just lots of animals in general. I wanna chalk the abundance of animals and their increasing size (hogzilla, that catfish) to all the hormones and crap we pump into our food trickling down to their ecosystems also.
There seems to be a increase in howls at night from both wild dogs and domesticated dogs. Typically you'll find cases that they will naturally do it, but not an entire street with over 25 dogs and at least 15 of them are at it.
In my local area too, the Crow population is going off. Typically they wouldn't hunt in broad daylight in our area. They would hunt in the morning or evening and you could see them then. Now they are seen much more.
Hell look at the freaking Hammerheads. Apparently they must have had the ability to asexually reproduce this whole time, but are just now using it, something must cause them to feel they have to do it.
You can tell somethings up, everything is getting a bit bolder than usual. Is anyone else noticing weird behavior amongst animals?

Maybe it's to do with global warming. How long have you been noticing this? It's mating season just now so they're bound to be pretty active...

I hate it. I hate it. I hate it!! Birds that chirp at night are usually mockingbirds with their circadian (sleep) cycle messed up. It annoys the crap outa me

when all I want to do is sleep

. I have one right outside me window. All I want to do is shot it
And about the other animals. Dogs bark at anything and everything. Sometimes a deer or a cat in the neighborhoor gets one or two dogs riled up, and the rest join in. I have two dogs; they are barking right now. It's normal. And I think another answer to the other strange behaviour is that now that humans have encroached on thier habitate even more we are able to observe anamolies even more that before. A few days ago on my way to school, I was trying to shoo a bird away from my yard. I got within 1 foot of him before he budged. They are becoming accustomed to the human presence.
And some of that can be blaimed on climate change (being careful to not use the word global warming because that subject is sensative).
Overall, I would like to congradulate you on becoming more observant of you environment. And I am not being sarcastic.

Aminal are those is very sensitive to the nature of sense. They sense some bad and are avoiding it some thing it may cause chaos to them that may set all the dead u may see. Maybe something is making they reacting like this. But trust me something big maybe going to happen. Tell me more if u notice more.

I was thinking the same thing.. that some animals were getting more game or something. Like only the other day a lady over here almost had her calf muscle taken off from a small shark that swam up in only knee high water. I guess the shark was just hungry but they commented that the shark was very game.

strange here too. last week I heard the birds singing at almost 4 am. When I was in England and first heard them that early I was shocked , but I guess it's common there.
as for crows. I haven't seen a crow in ages. we used to have a family of them. regulars. They all died as a result of West Nile. I like crows . I'd like to see them back.

Someone mentioned crows.. I have been here on my entire life and I have never seen a crow, but lately, they are everywhere. They literally keeping my rott. from his water turtle ( a pool that is shaped like a turtle I fill with water) there are a lot of them all in his pool. They give me the creeps..
I had two incidents just last week with birds- I woke earlier than normal to hear something hitting the window in my bedroom. It was cardinal inside my bedroom, and found the window and was flying into it, to fall back, to attempt to hit the window again trying to get out..You could tell it was frantic.. it wasn't a full grown bird, it was smaller than an adult.. I grabbed it with a towel and put it outside. Then the other morning I got up and there was a bird flying thru my living room, I liked to have never got him out.
I don't know how they got in unless the kids let the door open for a longer period of time as they were leaving for school. The doors were shut when I gotten up both times.. it beats me.
Yes, the animals are acting nutty here.. especially the birds...

Actually, Global Warming isn't happening. Look at any graph of the Earth's temperature. There's no dramatic change.

Haven't really noticed any of those...except the Roadkill. I have definately seen lots more roadkill lately. Especially the Opossums and Squirells.

I have seen alot more roadkill to. Also alot more birds around and they are chirping earlier then usual. Acting weird to. Like some said they seem to be getting braver. A Robin landed on my picnic table while I was sitting there, and yesterday we drove around the corner and a Grackle actually landed on the hood of our car while it was moving. Also isnt there something about the Bees disappearing? (ok not an animal but still)

In February this year on an unusually hot day I noticed something. It was 10 AM, and I was getting ready for school but I didn't want to miss the storm coming. It was snowing, but lightning was happening too, pretty rare. A cardinal bird perched on my fence and we made eye contact for about 2 mins or so. The bird look up in the sky and I looked to see what it was looking at. There was a murder of crows circling one of the houses in my neighborhood.
It was strange because it was not yet time for the birds to migrate back up north. The storm was also giving off amazing energy.

I have noticed similair things, but I dont know what to say although "The early bird catches the worm" so maybe the birds are just hungry and there are more worms in your area than there used to be

I have 2 dogs and they always act weird.
My dog tried to jump off the built in deck table yesterday because he had to pee. Did I find that weird? No. Why? Because he's a labrador.
If I went thru an entire day without him knocking over something to get to a ball or an imaginary bug, then it'd be weird.

i heard them birds chirping and singing at 2-3am as well. Scared the crap out of me, since they say if they sing during that time, some "friends" are visiting
my female cat jumped off the second floor 3 times!
My rabbit made some "woofing" and "Nyit nyit" in the middle of the night.
maybe the heat is getting to them.

It's due to man's encroachment. People have resorted to moving to the animals' turf, so they are countering.
I see a lot of strange behavior on the part of man at night, also. Very strange things. They act as if hypnotized by moon-star light, and act on one another as if in a trance. It frightens me more than the behavior of the animals. Poor critters, not the people, they must be confused.
I have a stretch of river behind my house, and I see traces of activity. Strange things; wrappers of misconduct, hypodermic needles, other party favors.
The poor animals are probably tracking some of the naughties to keep an eye on them. No kiddin'.

The sudden upswing in bird activity in a given area sometimes has to do with the addition of wireless zones. There are many birds and insects that cannot fly in areas where there is a lot of wireless activity and what with cell phones and wireless computers that many people just "gotta have" well it's screwing stuff up. It messes with their ability to keep their bearings. There is an area where I live called sparrows point which now has very few sparrows at all due in part to this. They have moved to new areas one would assume.
A few months back I had the pleasure and shock of walking out my front door and witnessing several hundred sparrows (which don't normally hang out in my neighborhood) sitting in the trees and on the roof tops of the houses on my street. (I wish I had a camera at the time cause it was so Hitchcock) As for night singing we have a couple of male mockingbirds in our area lookin' for love at 3 am. While it can be somewhat annoying if you are trying to sleep with the windows open it is not unnatural for this to occur. Ours go on and on and on all night long. (eventually you get used to it and tune it out without really trying)
As for the increase in road kill and wild critters in general which you see in an area, it is possible that they have been there all along and have simply gotten bolder due to getting used to people. Another possibility is if there is a lot of development going on in an area the animals may be trying to get away from the big equipment. Under normal circumstances you might seem an imposing and threatening figure to mr. fox and so he would avoid you at all costs even if he lived nearby. However in comparison to construction equipment you're pretty harmless.

I agree with your hypothesis here. I think that the animal's habitats are shrinking and pressure upon the poor critters is what is causing the behavior changes...it makes me so very sad.
