Just wondering what you guys all envision Paradise to look like?

I've always seen it as a giant city, made of an ivory-like substance. Basically all of the architecture is white stone. It is basically floating above a giant infinite forest. The outer parts Ivory City are made up of many small plateaus, connected by tons of short bridges. They are sort of personal gardens for everyone; a place to just come and think. The bridges eventually lead up into the main section of the Ivory City. Everyone would have their own "apartment" which looks sort of small on the outside, but the inside could look like whatever you wanted it to be. Say that you were in the middle of the city, you could still make it so that your apartment has a balcony that looks outside to the oceans. You could make it twenty stories tall, it would be completely customizable.

The Great Forest, that resides below the Ivory City, is basically a giant island. There are still buildings down there as well, for people who don't want to reside in the city. Animals of all sorts live down there. Everything would be in perfect balance with one another.

Everybody that you knew (or wanted to see) would be there. Basically, if every single person was in your Paradise then it would just be too many people. It is only filled up with the people you know and love. Now, these people would still have their own versions of Paradise as well, but the ones in your own Paradise are them at the same time. Sort of like...you are divided into millions of manifestations, and all of you are still the original James/Nancy as before. Everybody looks the way that you remember them, but at the same time, it is all of their ages into one. Say for instance, my grandmother, I would see more of the 60 year old versions of her, since that is when I knew her. However, though she would look that way, at the same time, I could see her when she is in her forties, and her twenties.

And that...my friends...is DreamSlayer's Paradise.

For me heaven is the Fullness. It doesn't have a look because it is non-physical. It is an experience of oneness with all and all with oneness.

I don't really think heaven is a place. I regard heaven as a "feeling" for lack of a better word. The closer you are to God, the stronger the feeling, the farther, the weaker the feeling.

BTW, your heaven sounds almost identical to something out of a movie LOL no offence.
Ghost Ship
Heaven for me is a giant planet sized city that's always in a state of twilight. I will have a flying car and an awesome job as an aerial craft engineer.

Haha none taken. I realize that it does sound like some sort of movie setting, and especially by giving it the title The Ivory City. That name has just always stuck to me though. It just sounds like the perfect name to me for what I am describing.

A few years ago I had a dream about going to heaven, here it is.

Well as far as I remember the dream began with me standing in a circular lawn. There was three levels to this lawn. The first was the largest with a small stairway to the next and it was a little smaller in circumference. Then their was another small stairway up to another lawn that was a little smaller than that one. In the middle of the final circular lawn was a medium sized house with a porch that went around the house. The lawns and the house all stood on top of a large tall mountain. As I walked up towards the house I noticed that there were childeren playing different games on the three lawns. The childeren all looked to be about five years old or so. It was like the place was a daycare or something.

I entered the house and standing in the kitchen talking with one of the childeren was a tall lean man who was dressed kinda like a camp counselor. He finished talking with the boy and looked up at me and smiled. As he did that the boy ran past me and bumped into me. I looked down at him and when I focused on his face I noticed it change. It looked like the face of a man about sixty years old or so. He smiled and ran back outside. I then looked back up at the man and asked him where I was. He plainly stated that I was in Heaven.

The first question I asked(Which I think anyone would) was were God and Jesus were. He stated that they were gone right now but they would be back soon. He then told me just to hangout for a while if I wanted too and wait for to meet God and Jesus. I agreed and went back outside and stood at the railing of the porch. I looked down and watched all the childeren play.

To my amazement I began to realise that up close all the childeren had adult faces when you focused in on them and they looked at you. I felt very calm and at peace there at that house. I remeber going back and forth from the yards and back to the house were I would talk more with the man inside the house. After a while it was seeming to be getting really late. I went back to talk to the man and ask him where God was. He told me I would need to wait and stay a little longer. For some reason I felt that I really needed to get going and that I couldnt wait anylonger.

I told him this and he smiled and said that it was good that I felt the need to go back. I remember that saying good-bye to him was very emotional because I remeber hugging him and that we were both crying. It was like saying good-bye to an old friend. I asked him how I was supposed to get down from here and he told me to climb down the mountain and that I would get home by doing that. So I walked down to the last yard and dropped down onto the mountain face. The mountain was very steep and before I knew it I had lost my footing and began tumbling down the mountain side.

Soon after I woke up. One question I have allways kept in my mind aside from if I truely went to heaven in my dream was what would have happened if I had waited to see God and Christ? I have allways beleived that if I would have stayed I would have died that night! None the less hope you enjoy.

IMO Paradise will be whatever anyone believes it to be, as will their version of Hell.

That sounds like a very cool dream. I doubt that you would have died, but maybe you would have received a special message? (I don't believe in Jesus or God, but that just sounds like one of those instances where you would receive something from a higher form)

People should work towards making the Earthly Heaven more widespread, rather than dreaming of a magical spirit world of eternal joy. mellow.gif

I'm replying to "your visions of heaven," not paradise...

Heaven is when my dreams become a reality and it's here on planet Earth and I'm fully conscious of this heaven happening, my mind is not somewhere else. I've experienced many of my heavens, and through my God's grace, I will experience more. Also, heaven is when I get a flash of insight, and that insight gives me deep joy throughout the day, weeks, months, years. True freedom, on the other, is completely another story, and I wouldn't call that heaven since it would be beyond words, I think. True freedom is beyond the mind-stuff.

I've had a few short visions of heaven, too short. Mostly during episodes of my not so good health.

The day seemed much brighter than sunlight, but I still could look into it without hurting my eyes. This impression of extreme light was enhanced by the architecture of the room I was standing in, the walls were like glass, mostly transparent or thinly translucent. I could see that outside other buildings appeared similar.

The sky by night was amazing, with so many more bright stars than what can be seen from earth without a telescope, in strange formations, and a visible nebula, and other things I don't know the names for.

There was great natural beauty, unspoiled by pollution or overcrowding. Calm seas with smooth beaches approached by grasses blowing softly in the wind, canals heading far inland with rest stops for travellers scattered along their paths, and strange gardens. Incredible mountains in the distance. Buildings seemed to blend into the landscape, like very artistic castles where the people tended to gather for the pleasure of each other's company.

But what really made it heavenly instead of a beautiful hell was the people themselves. By not being slaves to their brain chemicals and physical appetites as much as we earthlings are, it was easier to see the beauty of spirit and thought hidden in each person. Material possessions belonged to anyone who was using them and no one in particular if they weren't in use, because no one really cared- they were less important than a song or a story or a dance. People chose not live apart and definately not alone, because they enjoyed each other. And the rest I can't tell on a public forum.

Basically the bible has two elements to paradise; the heavenly city, and eden. . Both are clearly described in the bible. The new earth will be as eden was, and where the ressurected will go after heaven(the city) returns to earth. I imagine that it will be the same as eden, and we will be basically the same creatures as adam and eve were before the fall.

I think heaven is all about happiness and contentment. As one put it you can do there what made you happy here and the more spiritually aware or evolved you become the less you will have need of what made you happy as a human. How true who knows .

to what it's actually like who knows.

A Description of Heaven

The Doors of Heaven
Hadith implies that the heaven has eight doors: Whoever performed a
perfect ablution and recited shahadah then all the eight doors of
the heaven are thrust open for him–he may enter from whichever door
he likes. (Sahih Muslim).

The Prophet of Allah (SAW) has also told us:

When Ramadhan comes round, the doors of the skies are opened.
Another tradition has it that the doors of the Heaven are opened and
those of the Fire are closed (Sahih Bukhari).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Width of the Doors of Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

By Him in whose hands my soul is, the distance between the two gate
posts of paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Himyar or
between Makkah and Basra (Bukhari).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
The Width of Heaven
Be you foremost (in seeking) forgiveness from your Lord, and a
garden of Bliss the width of whereof is as the width of heaven and
earth. (Al-Hadid: 21)

The Prophet of Allah (SAW) has described the width of heaven thus:
Harith's (RA) mother came to the Prophet (SAW), Harith had been
martyred during the battle of Badr. She said: "O Prophet of Allah!
You know how much I loved him. If his reward is heaven, than I will
not cry but if not than you see what I will do before you." The
Prophet of Allah (SAW) said: "Is that just one heaven? There are
very many heavens and your son is in the best of them, Al-Firdous Al-
Aala." (Sahih Bukhari)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

The Width of Hundred Grades of Heaven and Sublimity of Firdaus

The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said of Firdous:

When you pray ask for Firdous, for it is in the middle of heaven and
is higher in grade than the heaven and above Firdous is Allah's
throne, moreover the canals of heaven flow from Firdous. (Bukhari)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Land and Weather of Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

"And then I was showed in the heaven, I saw there were camps made of
pearls and the soil was of musk." (Bukhari)

The Qur'an says of the dwellers of the heaven: They will see there
neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor the moon's excessive cold.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Trees in Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

Indeed, there is a tree in heaven so big that if a person keeps
riding on a brisk Madhamar (a specially bred horse) for a hundred
years even then he would not reach the end of that tree. (Bukhari)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Each Tree is of Gold
Abu Huraira (RA) reported that the Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

There is no tree in the heaven that does not have a trunk of gold.
(Muslim)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

A Tree That Will Manufacture Robes
There is a tree in the heaven, which will manufacture robes for the
dwellers of the heaven. That tree is called Tuba.

A hadith has these words about this tree.

Tuba is a tree in the heaven, which spreads out as much as a
distance that can be covered in a hundred years. Robes for the
dwellers of the heaven will sprout from its buds.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

How to Plant Trees in Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

In the night of Isra when I met Ibrahim (abraham)(AS) he said: O Muhammad
(SAW) tell your people that the heaven has pure soil and sweet water
but the land is bare. If they want to plant trees in the heaven,
they should say Subhan Allah Al-Hamdulillah and Allah Akbar.

-----------

Scent of Heaven
According to Ahadith, the scent of the Heaven can be smelled from a
distance of 70 years. (Sahih Al-Jame As-sagheer)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Mansions in Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

Indeed, there will be a mansion made of pearls for a believer. It
will be spread over an area of 60 miles, and in it will be the
household of a believer who will visit them but they will not be
able to see each other. (Bukhari)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

No Sleep in Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

Sleep is the sisiter of death and the dwellers of the heaven will
not sleep (Silsalatul Ahadith)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

The Bazaar of Heaven
It is reported on the authority of Anas bin Malik (RA): The Prophet
of Allah (SAW) said:

Indeed, there is a bazaar in the heaven where the dwellers of the
Heaven will come on every Friday. The northerly wind will spray
scent on them and this will enhance their beauty. And when they will
return to their homes, their households will say "By Allah, your
beauty has enhanced." "So has yours," they will return the
compliment. (Muslim)

In short, they will be overwhelmed by Allah's favours.

And when you look, it is there you will see a bliss and a realm
magnificent. (Ad-Dahr: 20)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
Gibraeel's (angel gabrial)(AS) Impression of Heaven
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said:

When Allah Almighty created the heaven and the hell, He asked
Jibraeel to go and take a look at what He has prepared for believers
in the Heaven. Jibraeel went and had a look at what was there in the
Heaven, and then he came back and expressed himself thus: By your
dignity! Whoever will hear of this Heaven will certainly strive for
it. Then it was said that the road to the heaven is littered with
hardships, and Jibraeel was asked to take another look at the
Heaven. He came back and said, "By your dignity I am afraid that
nobody will be able to enter it. (Tirmizee)

This means that the heaven is such a magnificent place that whoever
knew of it would certainly strive for it, but when Allah Almighty
ordained that the Heaven lies in facing trials and tribulations,
Gibraeel (AS) thought that nobody might be able to enter it.
