My theory to why our society is crime infested.

Back in the 1880’s when America was just starting out the government made a few mistakes to how they deal with crimes. One of the largest mistakes they made word of mouth. Let’s say someone robs a bank. And the police decide to tell everyone in the community about the crime by doing that there just asking for copycat criminals.

All the programs about murder bank robberies con jobs police chases they re all broadcasted through news TV radio. By doing that that law enforcement officials are getting into deeper crap.

If I were in charge of rebuilding humanity I would make something called the D A’s office. They would be like the police only good at investigating and combat situations. Secondly I would make it so that if there was a crime committed the D A’s office would investigate the crime look for evidence physical and circumstantial, and they would not chase after the criminals. Chasing after criminals is a sure fire way to have on lookers. And 1/10 people are dishonest. They might see that crime and say the only mistake they made are such and such. And they would try to recreate the crime only with fewer mistakes. I mean the government hides things for the good of the people way shouldn’t law enforcement? Don’t the people in charge know that its human nature to want to do something if someone else has done so? And lastly I would just get rid of the smaller states they less advanced and do not know how to deal with these problems. If you ever watch the hold-ups and carjacking you would notice that they are all in places like tn al southern parts. Never in places like ca az nv nd sd mn wy or. It’s too late to do anything but this country need more paranoia. I would also outlaw guns and knives. United Kingdom does it why cant we?

The English have less (insert British accent here) flesh wounds because there are less guns.

Starting out?!?! We had 100 years worth of history as a nation by that time.

So the fact that announcing criminal behavior and putting out "WANTED" posters for several hundred years before didn't do the same??

Combat situations?? Investigating?? How does one investigate without letting someone know that you are investigating it? Why combat ops? Wouldn't a sudden gun-battle bring out all sorts of onlookers that you are so loathe to attract?

I'd love to be part of THIS societ!! Commit a crime, and the cops will never come looking for me! They'll know who I am and have a record of all my "accomplishments", but they will leave me alone so I can continue. Great idea!! Hey, Serial Rapist... keep doing what you are doing and working your way through that apartment building - because we won't come get you!! Hey Mr. V-Tech shooter... keep shooting, because after we figure out who you are, we'll keep logging how many people you shoot!!

Which is why there are millions of people committing suicide - because we watched that newscaster blow his brains out on-air, right? And now there have been just how many people that flew planes into buildings?? One, a teenaged kid in Florida, using a tiny training plane.

So where were those three guys in full body armor and automatic weapons robbing that bank?? Los Angeles. It is a matter of population density - In Chicago and Milwaukee there are car jackings on nearly a daily basis. They make the news - but evidently not in Chula Vista.

This is fascism in the clearest sense. Outlaw all the weapons so that the general population has no way to protect themselves - then don't do anything except take the names and numbers of criminals - and you would have government sponsored chaos. You have a secret police force that doesn't have anybody watching what they do - investigating crimes by not telling anyone there were crimes - with victims that can't see any fruits of any investigation activity - and nobody actually picking up the criminals - unless, OF COURSE!!! Why didn't I think of this before!!! We wait for people to TURN THEMSELVES IN!!! That'll do it! We'll use a criminal's conscience to get them to feel bad about what they do and they'll turn themselves in!!!

This has to be the poorest idea I have heard since I came up with the idea of using acid to treat itchy and dry eyes. Hey, if you have no eyes, they aren't dry, are they?

Washington D.C. outlawed carrying guns and crime went up. Kennesaw Georgia made gun ownership mandatory and the crime rate fell to nearly zero.

I think that they reason crime rates are up is because criminals know that there is very little chance of getting caught. When they know that there is an outstandingly good chance of being apprehended or killed by a gun owner, they tend to not commit as many crimes.

If you were to pass a law that stated that spitting on the sidewalk carried a minimum sentence of fifty years, you'd still have people spitting on the side walk. If you heavily patrol the area and actively cite people for doing it, even if the penalty is ten cents, there will be no spit on the side walk. It isn't that criminals aren't afraid of the sentence, it's that they don't believe that they will get caught.

I totally agree. I would say that the the time of the sentence has very little in terms of deterrence, its more the possibility & probability of getting caught that figures in a criminal's decision-making behaviour; and as always you have to factor in the 'sheer-stupidity' factor of some criminals.

I dunno, as a victim of violent crime once... I simply refuse to be paranoid.... but I also refuse to own a gun or other weaponry. And I know how to run like the wind in my four and a half inch heels really good. I'm all about running away if I can. If I can't, well, I made my choice to refuse violence and refusing to be paranoid.

To each their own. If you are uncomfortable with guns or knives, then by all means you should not carry them. (Although, I would suggest you look in to pepper spray if it's legal in your locale).

For me, it's not an issue of being paranoid. For me it is an issue of not having to be paranoid. Firstly, I'm not attacking you for your position. Secondly, let me explain it like this. I'm a pretty good driver. I've gone a number of years with out being in a car accident. As a matter of fact, I was responcible for only one car accident that I've ever been in! None the less, I still were my seat belt. Not because I doubt my driving skills but, because if a tire blows out or some else has no driving ability at all, I want to be prepared. I don't want to be wondering how to fasten a seatbelt as they slam into me. For me, at least, it's not paranoia, it's self defence.
