BLACKSBURG VA

hate to state the obvious, but there are some very disturbed people out there. You don't need the CIA for that...

This may be from a VTech website, but that is NOT Blacksburg. Have you ever been to Blacksburg? I LIVE THERE!! I go to school there. I visited it many times as a child. First off, the terrain of Blacksburg (and Virginia for that matter) is nothing like the picture. Blacksburg and the surrounding areas are rolling mountains and hills. I see no hills in between the mountains and the foreground, and those mountains are pretty far away. And second, the mountains are all wrong. Those are rocky mountains, all of the mountains in the Blue Ridge (mountain range in which Blacksburg is located) are covered in greenery. And for even the occasional rocky Blue Ridge mountain, the color of the rocks is all wrong. The rocks in this picture are red sandstone; Virginia mountains are granite and limestone. This looks like a picture from out West.

And I would like to know under what circumstances this picture was posted? Such as what information was given with it?

That looks like Nevada. In fact I believe it is. The poster thing says DARPA...And Challenge(cant read it all). That is a race from LA to Vegas.

Oh and thanks for posting pictures that actually resemble the Blue Ridge Mountains. But there is no way to tell because the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina look very similar to the Blue Ridge Mountains. And if you notice, there are striking differences between the mountains in the your first picture and the ones in the second. Look at the peaks, different. And the second ones feature rolling hills. The first one is of a desert.

And btw, I do live in Blacksburg. But I have Luxemborg listed because it was my favorite place I've lived.

Do you want pictures of the Blue Ridge Mountains? Here are pictures I took on top of Roanoke Mountain in Spring 2006. It overlooks the City of Roanoke. Do you know how far Roanoke is from Blacksburg? One hour drive. Do you know how the difference between mountains in Roanoke and mountains in Blacksburg? None.
