i heard that Hostel was a true story.. that Tarintino, presented it to Eli Roth.. anyways heard that people did this in WWII.. and payed money to kill different nationalities.. can anyone provide a link or more information thank you.
LucidElement
this is for the MODS, why do u change this into the movie section.. i mean this is about history not the MOVIE... this is a real life document is what im asking, not a fiction movie, i was in the right spot i thnk!?
Mad Manfred
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there were 'Hostel-like' places around the globe...there's an over-abundance of sadists out there these days...as for World War II, guy named Mengele performed all kinds of sadistic "experiments" on the prisoners of Auschwitz. But for an organised group to do so during war-time? Unlikely...the region was far too chaotic.

It's not real. There is no evidence to suggest that it happened.
Thozzman
Yes it's real.
It's just down the street from me, want the address?

but look at Bratislava in Eastern Europe, its a trash pit, some of that stuff has got to go on there to tourists who don't know what they are doing or where they are going
Cadetak
It isn't directly based on a true story thats for sure. All characters and events are purely fictional.

The events that take place in these movies may take place in real life in some form or another but that remains unproven and the studio doesn't claim that Hostel is based on real events.

Bratislava is the cap of Slovakia.

I have Slovakian friends who live here in England and have seen pics of where they live and it's nothing like what u see on TV including Europtrip.

i don't think it's just a movie
but if you want to know ,i can show you!

come down here ,i know a nice hostel for you

you would love it hehe
Carcharoth
IIRC Roth did mention it was based on a story he once heard about some place in Asia (I think it was there) where you could pay to kill a person.
Hit the Lights
I always figured this movie was based on theoretical snuff films rather than a place where you could actually pay to kill someone in horrendous ways. If a place like that existed... wow. I would be a regular customer, probably!

That's not true.... While the specific events and people in Hostel may not be real you can be sure in places like China, Mexico and Eastern Europe that such events do occur and that people pay good money to do so.
Pelican_Eel
woah, you guys think really bad about Eastern Europe. but oh well.
