I've been researching a paper and reading various sites about potential "disasters" - some of which are off the scale. The Earth has been around (according to science) for 4 1/2 billion years, and the human race for about what... less than 100,000 years? My interest was on the planet and scenarios in which we could possibly be departing.

Oddly enough, the first site has an article in which George Carlin openly mocks this fact. I'd never seen it before, but it's nearly spot on and funny to boot. However it didn't really help my writings.

This one has some great humor also involved.

My question to those I need opinions from was this, how much do you buy into - and do you even think about it?

If possible I'd like to get a consensus going, though I'm sure for my first post anywhere I'm asking a lot. I guess I would just like to know in general if anyone ever thinks about any of the subjects covered on either site.

Hahaha I laughed at that.

Alas, I guess there's no interest in the subject here =/

Actually I think it's just in the wrong place. I bet youd get more responses in "Natural world" ask a Mod to move it for you maybe. original.gif
