I think Anette sounds pretty good. I'd like to hear her sing something like The Kinslayer before I make any judgments though.

I don't really like the new singer, Tarja was more supreme as her voice is more powerful, the new singers voice seem too timid and I don't think she'd be able to sing along with guiters otherwise she'd be drowned out.

She also looks like the lead singer of the Ramsus... so I dislike her even more.

Thats why I want to hear her sing something like The Kinslayer or Wishmaster before I make any judgment.

You know how Hannibal Lector killed and ate that idiot who sucked massive butt in the band to make it better in Red Dragon? That's what someone needs to do to her. Tarja is hotter and sounds tons better then her. The entire tone of her voice is off with what the band has played in the past. She's just going to keep on sucking and bring the band down with her till they smarten up and toss her out.

I wouldn't have thought that voice would have sounded good in a heavy metal song. Maybe Anette will be the same way.

Well Anette has a nice voice, but its not the same type of voice Tarja had, Tarja was a soprano. But nevertheless one can't say that the new singer has a bad or ugly voice. Lets see more of her than we will judge. Maybe we just need to get used to the voice.

Btw, anyone can tell the reason why Tarja left the band?

Tarja wasent forced outta the band, she left them on the advice of her husband/manager. so the guys whom 2 are friends of mine, did what was the best thing, let her go and continue thier carrer with a new singer.

I mean the letter pretty much says you're not a member anymore. Louie makes it sound like she had a choice in the matter. She just left before she was officially kicked out.

Thats not what happened. it was big news here., it was her choice, the band just done the legal part by issusing a letter.

And why would they need a letter for a member to leave the band? Especially a letter that makes it look like there was some animosity between them.

In the US they just leave.

I'm guessing they just didn't want to make anyone look bad so they put a spin on it like Rumsfeld "resigning".

She had been dropping hints to the Finnish tv, and her manager/husband had been hinting and telling scandlous storys to the Finnish press.
The band is owned by Tuomas, who writes all the music, so he baiscally put his foot down and helped her on her way.
by the way that letter would have been written in Finnish wich does not always translate directly into English, so the translator could have had a hand in directing it.

You personally know Nightwish members?

As for me, I think Anette's voice will give the new Nightwish a unique style. I like it.

Concernign Tarja leaving Ive only ever read the letter that was sent to her so I dont know the full story of what was going on. I was never a big fan of Nightwish as I got that Tarja had a very powerful operatic voice but it was just too powerful for me, eventually give me a bit of a headache. I dont mind Evas voice, its nice but it reminds me a bit too much of Sharon from Within Temptation in some areas. I listened to Eva fully and I loved the song so I can easily adjust to their new sound, Im just eager to hear what she sounds like singing the older Nightwish stuff as its alot more challenging in my books.

I think Tarja sounds much better...

I really am loving Anette more than Tarja especially after downloading Eva, her voice is just so gorgeous to listen to, I can play the song over and over and not get bored with it where as the old Nightwish stuff I could only listen to once or I'd get bored and turn it to something. I think the Nightwish guys have really picked the right singer to start the new Nightwish chapter and I can't wait for the album to come out now.

I listened to the promo to the new cd coming out. Quite disappointing. It's good music but it's not the same. The most powerful parts are either drowning her out because of her weakly voice or it's sung by the guy. The last song on the promo "meadows of heaven" it sounds like all she is going is forcing her voice to go bolder and it sounds like crap. Again, it's a good cd and I'll be looking forward to it when it's released but I liked Tarja tons better as the singer.
