Are you speaking of the Anime?

If so I think the overall plot is dumb, but the tension and interaction between all the characters is phenomenal its the only reason I could watch it. The chess match of wits between Kira vs. L was great, I patiently wait for the outcome of Kira ( a.k.a. L) vs N.

I've heard of it. But I haven't read the manga or seen the anime. It does look interesting, but it's not my type of thing.

I am an avid fan of the series (I'm anime-obssesed, after all) and the plot goes on pretty well. But what hackles my nerves was Raito. Darn... he's absolutely evil.
