Has anyone heard of this?

I learned recently from my fiance's older family members that her great-grandmother was what they had called a fireblower. What would happen is someone would get burned (one instance had a child that fell into a campfire), if she arrived in a certain amount of time she would pass her fingers three times over the area then blow on it three times. No blisters or other aspects of a bad burn would develop and afterwards the person would have little to no pain.

I've never heard of this but that certianly doesn't make it not true. I think it wouldbe awesome to be able to do something like that to help others.

When I burn myself (I love to cook - so it happens regularly) I put my hand on the spot concentrating a while, and I newer have blisters or wounds, just a verry little pain at times, when it is a heavy burn.
I have done it with my kids - and that works to. Donīt know why it just helps.
I donīt blow on it so I might just be a firehandler happy.gif

Interesting. Never heard anything like this before.

Just curious, did your fiance's great-grandmother have any other powers?

Firehandler? Good one, Kroll. grin2.gif

No, the only other odd abilities anyone in her family had that I know of was on her father's side (the fireblower was on her mother's). Strangely enough, also a great-grandparent. I came across these when I was researching her geneology. It seems that he was very popular down in the southeast mainly for pointing to locations on maps and people would go there and find valuable metals. He seems to have made a decent amount of money through this. Other abilities that people said he had were some slight movement of objects and some pyrokinetic.

The good ole south, where everyone is completely normal on the outside until you get very close to them.

It is just another form of healing like "Laying on of Hands" etc....

You are right – and there are plenty of reports on that – The strange thing in my case I think, is that it only seems to work with burn wounds with when I do it.

I heard of an old man that lived right outside of Donaldsonville, Georgia who could cure asthma in children. He was a very old man then and that was back in the 80's.
I wish now, I'd gotten a name or went to see him or something just to see if it was really true.

Never heard of that per se. But the legend of people who can heal by the laying-of-hands is classic throughout the world. Many people believe they can do it today as well.

Well I'm not sure if this is related, but I'm told I had a similar incident happen to me as a small child, and I think I remember it (though I'm not sure if I just recall from hearing the story told so many times). I was sitting in a child's fold out chair next to a fire when I was about three years old and it collapsed. I fell forward into the fire. My Grandfather pulled me out and right away threw me into his lap. When Mom got to me, my clothes were charred in places, but there wasn't one burn on me. She said he was rubbing me and whispering to me, which was unusual for Grandpa because he wasn't much for holding the children, but probably not unusual if he had just seen one of them fall into a fire!

I always found it hard to believe and she swears my clothes were burned through, not just blackened from the charcoals in the fire... not badly or all over, just in a few small areas. But my hands weren't even burned where I caught myself in the hot coals. Maybe they were wet or he pulled me out fast enough. Maybe something else.

He did spend quite a lot of time with a Cherokee tribe, which is where he met my Grandmother. I have no such confidence with burns, Neosporin is like heaven in a tube. yes.gif

Great story!

If you think about it, would you let everyone know if you had that kind of ability?
I don't think I would.
There could be thousands of people with these types of abilities and they just don't tell anyone because they don't want all the publicity.
Mmmm! I think I'll go look up some stuff on it.

well if i had extrasuper abilities i would use it for fame, but then again they could put you in a lab so thats kinda a draw back
i already believe in area51 so dont get me started

That is a very valid point. I imagine you would be overwhelmed by people seeking healing if you went public with it. It might be wiser to keep it to yourself for as long as you could.

I found a few links that might be interesting:

An example of why you wouldn't tell:

Kind of interesting:

More interesting:

And apparently it's for sale? wink2.gif

I couldn't find very many links that told just a single person's story.

I never really thought about it like that, but neither of them were ever sick. Grandma was a follower of Christian Science, so she only went to the hospital or saw a doctor twice - once when she had my father, and once when she passed. We always assumed Grandpa didn't go because they were a bit terse when it came to religious beliefs and didn't discuss it until they were very elderly, so we thought he just didn't want to make her angry.

Well if he did know something, he might have told me, as much as I've spent on docs in my life! I should have posted about this years ago. I could have bribed him with all the hidden whiskey bottles and cigarette cases I found stashed in the house we bought from them.... oh, I know they were his! wink2.gif

Thanks for those links, very good reading. I honestly do believe it can be done. I honestly do believe it has been done to me. But that is a story for another day.
