Hey all, as I've been visiting this site on and off for about a year and only recently opened an account, I thought it would be cool to open my own arty thread. I'll whack a load of sketches and finished pieces in here when I can update, mainly they'll probably be monsters/creatures and pages from my sketchbook. I hope you all enjoy

To answer your question, these are a combination of pencil sketches and Corel Painter. Just recently, and the most recent work on here, is using just Painter. I'm getting more and more into the digital painting side as I go

Hi blobs. Good lookin work here. I've seen some of the fabulous creature stuff they do at the C.O.W. forum and it makes me want to try painting. It has such a fun look to it. I don't have painter but Zbrush was developed as a painting program. 3D modeling is a real pain sometimes and I find myself wishing I could paint like this so I didn't have to [b]MAKE EVERYTHING IN THE PICTURE[/b]. Like I said in your thread, how you work out ZB is beyond me. I haven't got the time to work that out and it seems such a steep learning curve.

Someone with your painting skills might make the cross-over naturally and not experience the constant fight that seems to be basic in CGI. It take sooo much time to figure out HOW to do something than just drawing it. The simplicity of painting is so attracting me lately. Atleast your paintbrush doesn't argue with you.

Yeah Painter does have layers mate. They don't seem to be as useful as the ones in PS, or at least they work slightly differently, so I just stick to normal and multiply layers. If I want a different effect I'll go into PS, but as I'm a painter rather than effects man that doesn't bother me much
