Full Version: Stuck between being awake and asleep....

Hi everyone, I'm new on this site - I've been having some odd 'dreams' [?] lately and was wondering if anyone could explain anything to me.... basically, I start to fall asleep, but seem to get stuck in that stage between being awake and asleep - then suddenly it is as if my eyes are wide open because I am looking around me in the room and can see everything clearly - but my eyes are not open because when I realise I am 'seeing' I make myself open my eyes [which is sometimes quite hard to do].....

Does that make sense to anyone? unsure.gif

You, my friend, have a talent. What you are experiencing are early stages of astral projection. These are no dreams, your consciousness is being switched to your astral body from your physical one. In my opinion you should enhance this ability by practicing it every night when you go to sleep. Just concentrate on what you are seeing and try to move towards an object like if you were in your physical body. Do this with as much concentration as you can, and you will experience things you will never forget in your whole life.

You may also want to take a good look around your room before you go to sleep, so you can tell if what you are seeing is real and if something is not real. It doesn't mean it is not there, it just means that this is part of the practice.

And don't try to leave your room before learning all you can about astral projection.

My best friend used to have these experiences when we were in our teens, and while she didn't mind it happening, she didn't like the feeling of not being in control. After talking to her grandmother-who,like my friend, had psychic abilities-she got some advice. Her grandmother told her that when she went to bed,and didn't want it to happen, she should cross her arms over her chest(think X),and this would prevent anything from happening. It worked for my firend, but I don't know if it'll work for anyone else.

That happens to me sometimes and I make sure I know where everything is first, the thing with me is that I'll see my room only a few things are different, for example: There will be pictures that are not there, stuff like that.I hate that feeling though. good luck KLD original.gif

It does sound like it could be early stages of sleep paralysis, if you ever find your self unable to move then that is what it will be. It also sounds like the state that astral projection can result from.

I agree (sort of) with the others who said astral. It's the awakening of your spirit's sight.

Lack of ratings don't change the underlying attitudes which gave rise to particular results.

In my opinion the term "sleep paralysis" is a title given to what they (science) don't understand, or are afraid to acknowledge, ie. the beginnings of possible astral projection. It's like having one foot in the door. Interesting how science believes it has all the answers and actually attempts to curb a naturally occurring phenomena.
Ever wonder why the ancients were able to travel to wonderful and mystical places, come back and tell, or write about them?
A lot of these mystical adventures took place while the subject was sleeping, and were called visions. Because they were so lucid they knew the difference between mere dreams and actual astral journeys, and of course lacked medication to alleviate what modern science deems "a disorder".
Don't let the artificial term "sleep paralysis" rob you of the magic of astral projection. Their (science) job is to keep your feet planted securely in what they see as reality, and in modern times anything deemed to be outside of "their" reality is considered abnormal, and must be labeled with a negative term. I say don't let fear be your guide, and try it.
I've astral projected many times and although extremely frightening at first, it's an experience you'll cherish for the rest of your life.

I've found that during what is termed "astral projection" you are subject to neither time nor space, and are free to travel in an extremely lucid and conscious state, either forward, or backward in time, and to places that are way beyond anything anyone could possibly imagine, or dream of. Study and try some of the techniques you'll find in other forums here at UM dealing with astral projection, and give it a go. Peace original.gif
