Hullo everybody. The title is a bit preposterous, but I couldn’t come up with a better one & wanted to catch your attention, after all… wink2.gif

I’ve always been an intense and creative dreamer. I could fill books with all the stuff I’ve made up over the years. I have created entire alternative continents, with distinct geographies…I fly in many dreams, have different houses I live in and return to…have very surreal dreams, and very realistic ones….

I am mentioning this to illustrate that I have a good insight into my dream-world and can adequately assess them as my own dreams, if you know what I mean.

But I had one dream that was different from any dream I ever had before and since.

I must have been about nine or ten years old. The dream was as such quite simple. I was standing at the window of one of the rooms in our house, looking outside. There was no landscape to see, just cloudless, undefined white-blue sky, more like space than sky.

This sky was filled with huge abstract, coloured shapes that were moving and morphing constantly. They were undescribably beautiful; three-dimensional, luminous & kind of transparent; the colours were delicate, nothing glaring. There was also music, or rather harmonic sound I could hear.

The thing is - these shapes were nothing like anything I had ever seen before, neither in art, nature or in my dreams; the same went for the sounds. It was completely unearthly. It’s really hard to describe. They were completely alien. When I woke up, I just knew down to the very core of my being that these shapes & sounds did not come from within me, but from elsewhere, from outside of me.

And these shapes & sounds were so ‘otherly’ that I couldn’t hang on to them; it only took a very short time for me to completely forget them. Almost as if my mind was too small to hang on to them. After that I had only the memory of the memory, if you know what I mean. The feeling I had during that experience were indescribable, especially through the sounds, it felt like the most beautiful thing I ever heard. I was devastated that my memory faded so quickly & literally mourned my loss for a while.

I know this sounds like an odd childhood-dream hyped up & blown out of proportion, but I can assure you that I am a very rational & critical person, and I am 100% sure to this day that these shapes & sounds did not come from within me, although I can’t explain it. I just know.

So, I was wondering if anyone out there ever had a similar experience? Or can offer a theory to what I experienced, that would be nice too. thumbsup.gif

As a child, I had a terrible recurring dream. It was very dark, I was on the edge of an extremely calm lake, or pond, sometimes just a huge bowl. The water was black, thick and smooth as melted chocolate. There was a large drip forming about 10 feet above me, it got larger and larger as I looked at it. Urgently I had to stop the drip from dropping into the pool. All I had was a toothpick like object. I would try to snag the drop with the stick. Sometimes it would hold on to the stick, other times I was powerless, unable to raise the stick to the drop. The drop would drip into the pool. I felt sick with worry and fear, then shame as the beautiful drop hit the surface of the pool, making big concentric circles in the surface. I would watch with mixed emotions, disappointment, fear, anxiety, shame and was transfixed by the spectacle. All would return to inky blackness and motionless water, then the drip would begin again! I would usually awaken on about the 3rd cycle, feverish, sick and terrified. I had this dream about 3 times a month for several years. It finally, mercifully, stopped.

It sounds like a beautiful dream!

Maybe you did tap into something else, or had a glimpse of something. Do you have any family members that passed away and were very spiritual of psychic? Do your dreams feel like you are traveling somewhere else or that you just have a wonderful imagination?

I'm so used to hearing about bad dreams, good ones now confuse me rolleyes.gif

Hi Anne,

Well, we got quite a psychic streak running through the female side of the family, but at that time, everybody was still alive & well. I do have tons of imagination, but, as I said before, this was entirely different. The dream felt entirely different, and I am absolutely positive that it came from outside. This was a one-off. In my usual dreams, I don't have the feeling I'm travelling somewhere else, other than to my own crazy dream planet.... tongue.gif

I once dreamed the future, but it was very banal & not very exciting...
