I heard this in Runescape, the game:

If you see someone in the Wilderness(the 'PK' zone), named LastExile20, and he PKs you, you die in the game, but you also fall into a semi trance in real life. . . Figures dosent it. . .My first post in the Urban Legends is a definite LEGEND!

I will never forget the newbie moment i had. Some dude came up to me and asked if i wanted to join their secret club. I excitedly agreed. Then he led me into the wilderness and pwned me.

Just equip you're character with a +15 tinfoil hat and you will immune to psychic attacks on your mind.

Sorry, that might've been me, I used to do that a lot.

I used to talk to people for a good 15 minutes and become friends with them, I'd gain their trust by giving them like 10k coins then persuade them to take their good items out of the bank and unknowingly lead them deep in to the wilderness where I'd ask them to attack me "for practice" so that they got a skull over their head, then I would start laying in and completely destroy them. So in the end I had all of their items, my own money back, and loads of upset/confused private messages being sent.

Then I changed my ways, and began helping newbies with quests or by giving them expensive stuff for free.

I asked/told my brother about this. He said something about the user. And he "encountered" the person in the forest. He also said the "user" doesn't exist. :/

So the legend is false.

Well I at least we know why people have been slipping into trances in real life............... ...lol just joking.

That happened to me when I first began...I was mad!! I nearly yelled 'How is that even possible?! That's (word I can't say here)ing unfair!!'...I was at my public library then too!

The first thing that I thought of when I saw this was .hack//

I checked the highscore list on Runescape and there is nobody with the name "LastExile20" listed in the highscores.
So even if this character exists it either isn't listed in the highscores for some reason or it has no skills above 30.

Although it doesn't matter because it's obviously just a legend.

I wouldn't doubt that this rumour was probably started because some newbie happened upon a great item, they were so excited, they ran into the woods to kill something with it, then they died.....and sat there depressed staring at the screen for hours because they lost the item.

this sounds like that "millenium bug". That was something which was going around in 1999 that everyone who had a computer would get a virus in 2000 which would transfer stuff through your keyboard and kill u or something. I cant quite remember as i was only 7 or 8 at the time =P

Lastexile20 does not feature in the hiscores. You have to be in the top 1 million (for any skill) and have a minimum skill level of 30.

Too good to be true? How is someone losing even more of their life to runescape too good to be true?

Runescape was a fad at my school a couple years back (actually, it was one year back. but whats a plural or two between good friends?). Let me say this: its only amusing if you are addicted. I tried to start playing again one day because I was bored. I just couldn't do it. And then I recalled all the hours wasted playing it, then I decided not getting back into it was for the better.

But how could someone kill you (virtually) put you in a trance (actually)? If they are in the situation in the first place then they are probably in a trance-like state. The state of not-having a life. When someone kiled me in runescape I was so pissed I lost interest. Therefore, if someone killed you there wouldn't it be getting you out of a trance?
