Full Version: Would Ghost Harm People?

As per topic above,

Everyone would see a paranormal activity or even witness an entity.

Of course, people would get spooked.

But is getting spooked or being afraid justified?

Why are we afraid to see ghost?

Is it because they can harm us or is it just creepy (eg : when you see a cockroach, you'll get jolted).

cyurious
although some ghosts cant hurt you there are always the ones that can, i have seen numerous ghosts like shadow people and girls hanging from the ceiling in my grandmas house and yes im generally frightened but some ghosts are harmless and they scare us to hell and back
i dont think you have anything to worry about unless its the ghost of a serial killer, dark witch, or an angry murder victim
or the legendary ghosts, that people conjure, like Bloody Mary,La Siguanaba, the BunnyMan and so forth

Some of us aren't afraid. wink2.gif

I think the fear comes from the uncertanty of what it is and what it will do. There's so much myth, legend and Hollywoodism that it's all just a big unknown to most.

How do you react when you see girls hanging from the ceiling?

Do the ghost notice that you noticed them as well?

Damn that's scary dude.

I'd like to know too. Sounds like a scene from my old frat party days! laugh.gif

Of all cases of encounters with the beyond which i've read or learned of,

i never hear of one proven case of people getting harm in due course.

Mostly are just people getting disturbed and spooked off.

I don't think possession can be considered harmful because the host won't know what's going on.

I think the reason people are afraid of ghosts, are that we are brought to believe that they don't exist, yet when we have a paranormal encounter, the body goes in to shock as it doesn't know how to explain what it just witnessed. I think this explains it rationally!

Nah, this doesn't explain everything yet.

We have 2 feelings in ourselves wihich are certainty and uncertainty. Both works vice versa in a situation and conflict will happen if both parties have the same feelings.

Just because we can't explain it, doesn't mean that we'll get scared.

If you discover a new species outside your backyard (not a skunk), you won't be scared. You be awed.

That's also something, that you never witnessed and you did not get scared.

What about a woman's beauty you never witnessed before, you don't get scared from that, do you tongue.gif ?

it was me and my cousin were sleeping on the pullout bed in the living room in my grandmas old wooden house it was about midnight and we heard the silverwear in the kitchen moving and heard scracthes and stuff on the roof and i looked up and above the piano i saw the ghost girl just hanging. know she looked dead and unaware never saw her again
although i did go in the attic at about sundown my grandma was at church and i heard one of the kittens in the roof and i went up to get it and this house is like so old that there is only lik,e a tiny square to get in2 the attic so like i barely fit and no1 has been up ther in years an since it was sundown the holes in the roof werent showing that much light and i made it halfway an heard the voices and turned around and escaped
btw the house is creepy because there is this closet that i have never seen open and a bed is against it and one day i moved the bed and opened the close and there was a wall behind the door, its creepy

I agree, I would be in awe, but keep in mind most people are different. Norm is accepted, and anything different is frightening to them. Unexplained is frightening to majority of people. People like you and I who are in to the research of the unexplained thrive on finding things such as Ghosts, EVP's and whatnot, but most people run away scared, I have seen it at multiple haunted locations, people running away because they heard a noise.

Hi Doc,

nice to meet you. haha.

I never been to a ghost hunt before and i would love to go sometime.

The part where you said because they heard a noise really cracked me up so bad. lol

But why would they be scared by a noise? A noise won't harm them...

Anyway, i slightly agree people are afraid of the extraordinary. In my opinion, people do not accept the extraordinary.

You do understand the Bell's Curve Theory. It can apply in our lives as well.

Small portion is great, most of it middle and the unlucky ones are last small portions. We live in a world where money make sense and religion & spirituality are being diverted into a past time.

In a materialistic (which i hate), people are more inclined to materials, what doesn't make sense - people won't bother. Just my humble opinion, Doc. mellow.gif

Depending on how you define a ghost.. there are a few people on the board that have mentioned being injured by malicious spirits (JustNormal jumps to mind, and I *think* Sunni too) whether they were demons or ghosts or poltergeists comes down more to personal definitions/beliefs I think.

So I think the situation isn't just being afraid for no reason, though I'm sure a lot of initial fear is just the shock of being surprised by something so unexpected.

You sure? Maybe if your a safe distance away, but what if it was in your house? Or what if it was acting menacingly?

But ghost don't harm you directly, maybe just throw a cup at you, or re-arrange your furniture for better fengshui or throw your fries during your football game on tv or ...

If a creature acts menacingly, of course i would get scared.

But most creatures in this world with the deadliest venom are often those which are beautiful and with fantastic features.

The Enfield Poltergeist was pretty aggressive.

If you can get one those that have a negative experience to come in and relate their story it would probably be more informative, but they talk about being scratched to point of bleeding, and being pushed down stairs, etc.. So no not just irritating pranks.
