I don't know if this legend's been cracked yet or not, but I read once somewhere that an immediate relative of Hitler's [I think it was a nephew] fled to the U.S. after the war and changed his name and started a new life settling in Virginia. I also heard that he's still living today. Is this true?

If so, I'm a bit creeped out that one of the most feared and hated men in history has kin dwelling within our whereabouts. unsure.gif

Never heard such a thing...but he undoubtedly has some relatives living somewhere...

Thats got to be a tough stigma to get over....I'll bet most have changed their names.

I know I sure would. And I would never admit to being related to the freak, either.

BINGO! I was RIGHT you guys, it WAS a nephew, only there were four of them and they live in Long Island, NY. Here's an excerpt of an article I found here:

New York - Three brothers living an uneventful life on Long Island, New York, have decided to write a book about their family. Their famous relative: Adolf Hitler.
Alexander, Louis and Brian Hitler are direct descendants of the Nazi German leader's paternal side, the New York Times reported. A fourth brother, Howard, died in a car accident in 1989. The three are also childless, suggesting that Hitler's bloodline may die with them.
The three brothers run a small landscaping company in Patchogue, Long Island, after living for years in New York City. Their history was already known by immigrant neighbours and has occasionally been exposed by news articles.
But their father, William Patrick Hitler, is now the subject of a play called 'Little Willy' that will appear soon in a New York theatre. Following the play, his sons now plan to write a book on the family and have hired an agent and lawyer.
William is the son of Alois Hitler Jr, half-brother of the feared Nazi dictator because they shared the same father. Alois called William 'Willy,' but Adolf Hitler called him 'my loathsome nephew,' according to the Times.
William was born in Liverpool, England, in 1911 and the family moved to the US in 1939. In Patchogue, William ran a diagnostic blood laboratory while the sons later switched to landscaping.

apparently ... (according to some web pages)
His nephew
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Hitler
sons of his nephew still live
http://www.ghandchi.com/373-hitlerEng.htm
grandson of his nephew converted to judaism from sheer horror and guilt

and on and on and on ... There shouldn't be guilt from an association that's completely beyond one's control. From all the articles indicate, I'd say these people don't deserve to be mentioned in the news. It's only hurting them for nothing.

I watched a show on the History Channel about this. Yes, Adolf Hitler does have relative living in the United States under assumed names. If I remember correctly, all of Hitler's relatives are older (60's-ish) and do not have any children. To me it almost seems like they are trying to let the bloodline die out because of the stigmas we have placed on them and the guilt they feel.

And the one nephew you were originally talking about, Indigo, actually offered to fight against his uncle in the British Navy. Hitler really didn't like that guy. The nephew blackmailed Hitler into letting the nephew live a cushy lifestyle. The blackmail: Hilter did have Jewish names in his family.

And why would you be "creeped out" about having Hilter's relatives around you? They are his relatives, not him. I'm nothing like my family. I have done a lot of research on this. Hitler was nothing like his family. I'm not defending him; I'm defending his family; they don't deserve all the ridicule they have suffered.

People are strange things, especially the negative ones because all they do is hate.
People are quick to crusify a dictator or emperor without asking why they became that dictator or emperor in the first place. Lessons are never learned all is swept under the carpet when they lose and for that reason we will carry on getting the sterotypical megalomaniacs

Napoleon - Totally dispised for his Corsican accent and Meditteranian looks. Tried to commit suicide because of all the hate when he was younger and then ended up somewhat powermad with him trying to take over Europe. I wonder why?

Hitler - Parents died at a young age, no qualifications, no job, lived for many years as a tramp and hated for being the white dove. Mmm do you think his megalomania might have been because he also tried to top himself or something?

Genghi Khan - An outcast also, look what he did.

Cromwell - Was he hated to? I believe he was.

Do you think the underlying problem is hate? Do you think the problem is negative people?

It makes me laugh how somebody bullied gets sympathy if they try to hang themselves or something and yet if we have one who goes bonkers because of it and tries to take over the world we hate them.

In my opinion negative people need removing 'permenatly' from society before they cause WW3.
