The one true statement in the Gatorman link:
"Though many investigators consider the "gatormen" legends to be more a product of modern myth, than that of physical evidence"

Native Floridian here. Never heard of them. I've seen the picture on the link posted, but that's hoax. Now, I have heard and seen pictures of the Skunkape and I do believe there is one of those.

With tales like that, you wonder 'Now why do people live in crowded cities?' That is the stupidest, ugliest, most asenine hoax that could be done to the people of Florida! Whoever did that should be ripped from the living and placed in the depths of Hades! Florida has the largest population of retired citizens. Some of them have fought in wars to protect the little bitty mindlless numbskull that started this masqurading outpouring from the rear end of a buill!

Reminds me of Thinner by Bachman/King when a gypsy puts a curse on a doctor.. his skin hardens, gets scaley.. he turns into an a gator. Lovely.
But, really, the only way for this to work is if they had that disease that hardens your skin into scales. Real life cases of that are pretty freaky but, yeah, I think the only gatorman you'll run into man is a fella with a medical condition.

I think far less of the people who believed this hoax than the actual perpetrater themselves, at least the purpatrater can separate the line between fact and fiction, unlike the simpletons who believed him or her.

Ha, funny enough, the museum you're talking about is in the town I live in, it's called Marshes Free Museum, and it's in Long Beach, Washington. Yeah, Jake the Alligator Man..he's here, he's really small, like a child almost, and it's fake. It's the somewhat mummified remains of a human and an alligator sewn together a looong time ago. The museum is an "oddity" museum, but really it's a giant gift store with a few weird animals on the walls.

It's not a mummified human, actually, it's a mummified monkey torso stitched with a young crocodile's body. Sick joke, eh?

Haha! I've always wondered about the individual who 'assembled' it...
Reminds me of that episode of League of Gentlemen where the local store owner sews a pig, a bird and a sheep together to keep tourists away.

It's ok and all, it's mainly a gift shop, but there are some neat animal "oddities" up on the walls, and like, shark jaws and animals with several heads, and such. also, i was wrong, jake the alligator man is a monkey and alligator sewn together, he's not human at all. it's pretty sick when you think about it. you can get pennies squished with his picture on them at the museum...i'm not sure why..
