Hello my name is Jack, and I am new to these forums. I decided to join them after I had a few incidences where I have felt that there is another presence within me. Now, I do not want to sound crazy so allow me to explain exactly what happened.

The most recent of these occurrences happened on June 16th, 2007....actually minutes before I am writing this to you, I have figured to document it right away this time and hopefully someone that has a little more experience can help me out.

I spent the day doing regular duties (such as laundry, cleaning up the house) and all the activity have left me weary for the night before a few friends were over and we drank and partied a little (sorry to get off topic)

So after I was done cleaning my room I felt tired and wanted to take a nap, so I lay down and rested my eyes a little, meanwhile the film Ed Wood was playing on my pc in the background.
Im not exactly sure how long I slept, I did not notice the time when I fell asleep. While sleeping I realized that I was not fully asleep. I could faintly still hear the sound of the movie but eventually I was able to draw it out.
A few moments after that (this is where I got a little scared) I could SWEAR that I could sense myself being awake, and I was sure that my eyes were open but I could not move altough I wanted to move very much.

(Im sorry to be jumping all around but you need to know this info also, I am writing this to you as I think it) Since I was a little kid I have always have had this "image" of a mans face whenever I would cough, sneeze or do anything that requires my eyes to close and muscles in my head to tense up. (

I have attached an image of how much of the face that I see, I am sorry I am not graphical designer and I drew it in MS Paint, but it is merely to present how much of the face that I see, note that there are no details in his face but only the outline of his face, some hair and his EYES, the thing that I can see the most in his eyes!) I should also mention that whenever I close my eyes and think about this face and try to see it, I get goosebumps and all the hairs on my arms and back of neck stand up and I get a feeling that I am in danger, a sense of danger.

I ahve also attached an image of my room, so you can better understand how I live.

(Back to the main story) So after I managed to actually get some energy to move myself, I was lying on my back still asleep (kind of asleep i don't know how to explain it I was like half asleep and half awake) I slightly opened my eyes and something on the ceiling ) My eyes were only open a little, just enough to let in a little light and kind of see the ceiling, and when I caught this dark..thing..(with I now know is the light in my room) on the ceiling i coincidently thought about the "image" in my head and the dark spot in the center of the light happened to be exactly where the "man's" left (our right) eye is, and at that moment I have never seen this "man" so clearly (as I am typing this Chills are running down my spine) at that moment all the muscles in my body just...stiffed up I could not move and the sense of fear and danger has never been so great, I have never felt such terror (and I almost never use that term in my life..but this time I really do mean the word TERROR), this lasted a few seconds and then I tried to wake up, I could hear myself telling myself that I am awake and that I need to get up but I could not, and then moments after it happened again I could see that mans face.

Perhaps I just had a nightmare, but this has happened before I KNOW for a fact that this has happened to me before and I am worried, I don't know why I'm worried or what I should be worried about but like I said, it was a scary moment.

The only reason that I am writing to this forum is that I am hoping someone knows something about this kind of phenomenon.

If you think I am crazy, thats ok...im starting to question my sanity too, but at the same time I know what I saw and I know what I felt.

A little background, I am 19, Male, white. I was born in Ukraine and currently live in Canada.

Thanks.

Jack

wow, I have just also read the thread Demonology 101, and alot of those points apply to me. That is some kind of strange coincidence.
Please Explain
They call it Sleep Paralysis Jack.
And i guess there's no bad spirits in your home.

I have to agree with you PE..Here Jack this might help educate you on the subject and symptoms surrounding this. This is a sleep disorder not paranormal. If you were fully awake that would be different but the fact you could not move, felt a presence etc is consistent with that. Hope this helps and NO you are not crazy!!l We are here for you so try not to panic, read this and let us know what you think..JN unsure.gif

DONT read that thread as cases like mine and a few others are demonic hauntings, happens all day and night. NOT to worry..

Wow, thanks for the link JN. That information almost completely describes what happened to me. The only thing at this point that Im curious about is the "face" because i do not have to be asleep to see it.

My eyes were only open a little, just enough to let in a little light and kind of see the ceiling, and when I caught this dark..thing.

this may in fact be a type of shadow enitity assault we haven't yet identified....I feel that these are intellegent beings that may in fact be able to mimic naturally occuring sleep disorders such as night terrors or SP etc..... I have had similar incidents throughout my life especially the waking up and seeing this thing moving around in this black shape part of the story.... I also have this intictual need to shout at the thing but my voice is cut off...the feeling of foreboding is overwhelming every time and is really the deciding factor (for myself) as to what is most likely paranormal....B

Ive seen the black shadows flying on the cieling, always three or four..One being larger than the rest.. but, the presense of DOOM was overwhelming. I could move, I found myself moving backward in my bed to get away from it. A few times, something appeared along side the bed, and it delibrately intimidated me. The black shadows always seem to accompany this thing that appears by my bed.
There is an explaination for the images of the face you see, but I can't think of the name of it right now.. sorry. :/

WOW Your house is pretty spooky too. But the poor doggy just wanted to go to sleep. Obviously I have seen some horrible things. But back in the day, I woke only to see a man next to me. He had piercing eyes, made terrible sounds, smelled of alcohol, perfume, and was talking to me OMG..I didnt know what to do, I was horrified. So I divorced him. Thats my little story- w00t.gif

Nah, I dont think my house is spooky. if it were something paranormal going on in my house it's probably one of my grandparents (I think about them all the time) and as the dog goes, maybe it was one of my deceased pet's. I have had a dog all my life growing up. however when I was 16 years old i lived in a house that was scary. thats a whole different story!!

It could be sort of embedded in your brain for seeing it so often. I dunno, just a guess..

That dog experience sounds like the first time I experienced the black shadow form.. I saw it, and reached over to wake up my husband ( ex), my heart was in my throat it was beating so hard and fast. I never took my eyes off of it, it just went way.. faded.. when I *finally* got his butt to turn over it was gone.. a few seconds that seemed like forever.

Glad you left that house..My favorite doggy was put to sleep 4 years ago and I still miss him. He used to lay out on the grass by my SUV, and when I am blow drying my hair or whatever, and look out the window, I can "almost" see him there for a minute..(((Spike)))
Please Explain
During sleep paralysis your mind was awake but you are still on REM or dream state.
Whatever you see is part of your illusion base on what you believed or what got stuck in your brain.
Next time it happen to you (SP) just relax and see if black shadows will appear.
Shankpin
I understand PE, but I can move without any problem. I can speak.

Amf, i haven't had one experience where I couldn't do either one.. I have been able to do both. That's the only thing that kept me from thinking it was SP..

dunno.

and why do the shadows wear hats sometimes?.....B

Hey guys, perhaps I need to explain the "face" a little clearer. It only appears when my eyes are closed and whenever the muscles in my face tense up (cough, sneeze, etc.) the face appears on a black background and the outline of the face is a yellow color.

weird

Thanks for clarifying that. Sorry we got off topic here. This is no demon, this is no shadow person, this is not a ghost, this is not insanity, and again I reiterate I "believe" this is all part of sleep paralysis. In otherwords when you are asleep, and somewhere between real sleep and REM stage, is when any kind of occurance can happen. Its when are bodies are asleep which causes people not to be able to move, yet your brain has not reached REM state. I know many times at that stage I hear a long BANG that wakes me or a knock on the door, but these are all auditory hallucinations due to the brain activity. Even when your eyes are sort of opened, they really aren't, it all part of the same pattern. When you sneeze, it is an involuntary reflex in which we always close our eyes for a brief second, so again that can cause the same illusion you see during SP and the same goes for coughing. Many people state they smell things when sneezing or coughing, but they also suffer from SP. When you tense your face, you must close your eyes, so again, its always the same illusion because your brain is creating it. If I tense up my face (as I just tried) I see black as well and and a white circle. With all that said, if I were you I would have your eyes checked to rule out any optical problems, even tho I feel you are fine. People with things like Narcolepsy suffer from the same illusions as you. In otherwords they doze off for one minute and not even aware of it. Get checked out medically for your own well being. Panicking or worrying will just make you feel worse, so if possible try not to. I dont feel there is anything in your house, in you or around you. This is just my opinion..Good luck Jack and please keep us updated..JN

I think SP is mistaken alot of the time as a paranormal occurance. I have experienced it(scared the hell out of me) & could see how someone could think that way.

I took your advice, went and got my eyes checked, 20/20 no problems. I didn't the doctor about the face lol, i don't think he would understand. I talked to a buddy of mine who is studying brain activity and stuff like that, he says that its a memory relapse that could be happening. He says that that image is like a "frozen" moment of something happening to me as a child, perhaps something..or..someone scared me or something like that and now I cant forget that moment and I see it at time.

JN, any info on that??

Thanks for all your help btw!!

I am happy to hear you had your eyes checked out, and wish I had 20/20. I am not sure of something of a repressed memory, however in this case anything is possible. The fact that it happens before REM indicates an illusion, when you sneeze, or cough, it puts pressure on the optic nerve so again has to do with that visual image somehow embedded in your brain along with SP. Just try and remember it is NOT real, it cannot hurt you, its an illusion. I also believe when people suffer from anything of this source, self hypnosis helps before sleep. Try saying to yourself over and over again "I am going to sleep well, have no bad dreams and wake feeling energized." What you are then doing is allowing your brain to stop creating the image. The mind/brain is very complicated. You are also embedding positive thoughts in your mind, and if you say the same thing every night over and over again, to the point YOU believe it, I will bet this image will leave your mind as quickly as it came. That is my advice. You are very welcome Jack.Keep me posted and "pleasant dreams." JN rolleyes.gif
