ORBS!

I have over 2000 personal photos, most of them have orbs, i say it's just a reflection of some sort, i don't believe it's paranormal activity...

Do a search for the word 'orb'.

Go ahead.

Just do it.

Hi and welcome to UM.
It is not necessary to writhe SO BIG – most of us are able to read normal sized letters.
The way you writhe is just annoying.

“Orbs” - in my opinion 99% of the times dust or moist.

I know it's dust... I just want to see what other people think because many people think that it's paranormal activity.

Hi Curious,

I am more convinced of orbs when I see them on video. Otherwise I think it is mostly a lense effect.
~Onyx~
Not paranormal, IMO.

It's definitly an anomaly caused by cheap tiny digital cameras and bad photography.

Orbs don't do it for me either - long ago, when people used film in their cameras, orbs were a rarity - now, everybody has an orb photo somewhere.

agree, ecspecially when they can be made homemade. kroll1 was a perfect example on how easy an orb can be produced, and photographed!

I have a little correction to my post, in the thread I linked to before.
A former laboratory assistant on a photo company told me that in the “old” days, people also took “orb” pics, but not nearly as frequently as now.
The labs throw them out, because people believed that the lab had messed their pics up, so they only seldom get out to those who took them.
This don’t change my opinion (and he agrees with me)
spiridion
I'm not even sure I believe in paranormal activity, but some of the creepiest pictures I have seen are orbs with faces in them. I tend to believe it's dust, rain, etc, though. There are also some wierd orb videos where the orbs move erratically. (Like over crop circles.)
Spooks Apprentice
I believe that some orbs have some spiritual or paranormal meaning. For example if they are in night time cemetary pictures, yeah, I do belive in them, but if they're in old pictures from an extremely old house, no I don't. If someone takes pictures during the day, and they find orbs, it's probably just dust, or reflection from the sun, onto the lense.

Orbs are one thing that I cannot take as paranormal in any way. They are to easy to reproduce and there are so many causes of them. Give me a cloaked figure or shadow any day,lol
JustNormal
Orbs are really nothing more than dust, rain drops, esp when we see clusters of them, or they can a ball of spiritual and psychic energy. They are pretty much everywhere. But every now and then, one stands out taken at perhaps a cemetery, or around someone, and those I feel are paranormal. All the rest are just stuff from cameras, bad weather, digital cams catch more than any other camera out there. The one in Jule's photo at the cemetery is a perfect example of a spirtual orb located by a grave site.JN unsure.gif

Are you sure it's dust?
Take an experiment, shoot a dust and see if that is the same texture in many orbs on the net.
I think orbs are travelling lights, even any small amount of light at the back of a camera can be captured as orbs.

If you have a look at my homemade ”orbs” in the link I provided in my first post on this thread, you will see that they have all the characteristics of ”paranormal orbs”
I even got a string, and I got a head with a glowing eye in my closet.
That’s how easy it is to make ghost pics happy.gif

As an experienced photographer of 40+ years who was recording so-called orbs on 35mm from 1993... both of your assertions are completely wrong. Research articles have been posted by myself and others countless times on these forums.

Orbs are not paranormal, never have been , never will be. These FACES that people see in them ,you have to magnify to the point where it all becomes pixelized and its normal to pick up shapes and objects.

Not once anywhere will you ever convince me that Orbs are paranormal.. just too easy to recreate

I dont know. Sum look real and sum dont. Ithink the last to are real.

Orbs are evidence of people that don’t look at photographs as a hobby, or take much photographs.
I wonder though on who was the first gave the world the wrong impression that orbs are spirits..now everything is a mess. What picture was it?
I always throw out my orb pictures even if they have faces...

Being easy to recreate means something is not paranormal? I can create a ghost in a photo. I can make mist, or shadows...
I agree that most orbs are not paranormal, but I can't discount every orb ever captured as not paranormal. I know people who have seen orbs with their own eyes, IMO, those must be paranormal, unless I see one and take a picture of it, then it becomes normal?
Violet_Blue
Although orbs could be easy to recreate, I don't believe they are all fake. I have caught several myself that I could not explain as dust, bugs or mist. One such "orb" was at a wedding... I took several pictures one right after the other and I caugh a colorful orb that came down near the newlyweds, then burst into a pink mist and disappeared above them. I never saw anything until I looked at the pictures later. dontgetit.gif

Wait for me to capture an orb in a very close room without any presence of light (even tiny lights).
If i'm succesful, i'll admit it's a spirit.

Alot of orbs are dust and insects. I'm sceptical of many of them and it must be something special to show that it's not. When you see a very large (5 ft.) orb floating down stairs on a video camera while capturing an EVP of a woman's voice asking "can you see me now?" then you might change your tune a bit.
MasterPo
I don't think "fake" is the right word. False or mis-categorized would be better.

Even TAPS says 90%+ orbs are just dust, moisture, insects, etc.

I could post literally thousands of pics of orbs but it's all some kind of particle in the air. Or a reflection off something. Not paranormal.

IMO it is because of orb photos that the paranormal field will never be taken seriously as a scientific endeavour. Although energy orbs do exist in nature (e.g. St. Elmo's Fire, Will O' The Wisp, ball lightening etc) IMO the vast majority of orb photos (and video) are just dust. Impressive to the casual observer but definately not paranormal.

Regarding recreatability (as someone mentioned before), yes if you can easily recreate it then the evidence has to be discounted. It could be legitimate but if you can assign another good explanation than the value of the evidence is lessened. You'll need to come up with something more solid (no pun intended).
NatalieK
Imo, I don't believe orbs are paranormal - insects, dust, rain, whatever, just not spirits. I hate being so skeptical most of the time, but I think alot of people who go out looking to get a photo of a ghost and instead get orbs, just try to convince themselves and others it's paranormal so that they feel they didn't waste their time or come back empty-handed. I may be limiting myself, but I'm only intrigued by photos of ghostly figures rather than the photos of orbs or streaks of light that pop up often happy.gif they're interesting, but nothing more imo
Thozzman
They're both. Is that so difficult to understand? Some are dust, pollen, or whatnot, some are ball lightning or other forms of unexplained energy, some could be paranormal, (and probably are).
Everything is a sphere, or will become one due to gravity.

For the same reason that bubbles are sperical. A sphere is the most efficient organization of matter so that its internal pressure (outward) reaches equilibrium with the force of gravity (inward).

I never understood why anyone would recreate an "orb." They are everywhere, and could be caused by many reasons including paranormal. If anyone were that desperate to create something or recreate I would think they would "attempt" to create an anomaly or a "ghost" pic, not an orb. Just my opinion.

I have to disagree to a point. The last team I had here, used night vision cams in every room. We watched a HUGE orb, the size of a beachball float all over a room. We were all in awe. So I asked the team exactly what they are. They said tiny ones can be dust, moths, pollen etc. But for the most part, the ones in motion that were larger and detectable are spiritual and psychic energy. So with that, said, I do believe we can capture them on film as they did mine. It was pretty cool seeing them in motion, but I can also see some with the naked eye. They are out there, but I guess it depends on the conditions in which it was taken. We can blame cameras, photo shop, and every other trick on the book, but bottom line is, some are paranormal..JN

Sorry to disagree, but I think they were mistaken badly.

I can show you many videos of large orbs just floating along. Some twist, turn, zig-zag. Very impressive looking. But just dust. no.gif

Sorry, I have to disagree that you disagree LOL I do believe that many can tell the difference between dust and a spiritual orb. It seemed to me as I watched the monitor they were of course all over the place, as dust for the most part. But certain ones stood out due to color, size and location. yes.gif

Difference is I can prove it's dust (or at least more likely to be dust). Just looking at a video can't prove it's paranormal.

I understand, but there were certain ones they took still shots of and printed out. I saved one photo, which was taken in another room, and now I cant find it..Then again, in this house, things DO disappear, who knew? They just explained to me the different types of images of orbs, and took shots of the ones they felt meant something. There was one "anomaly" that scared me and I said "OMG what's that?" He said "It's a moth." LOL..Guess ya had to be there.. yes.gif

JN - Like we've discussed before, no matter how interesting an orb may be (and frankly you've seen one orb you've seen 'em all), unless there is significant addtional evidence from other sources (audio, EMF, thermal etc) take at the same time then it's just a annomoly. Even with the additional evidence it's likely just dust.

And even with a very interesting orb did the person taking it go over and look to see if there was something maybe that reflected the light?

Thanks MP, on the last investigation this place was in total darkness, and althought we tripped over one another they had the night vision cams in every room, and an investigator in every room. In one of them, the investigator was laying on the floor of the "tub room" as to not get in the way. The room was pitch black, mirrors covered, shades down, the whole 9 yards. The moment we saw that HUGE black orb, the investigator didnt see it, but thru his walkee talkee he said "something is cutting into my back and making me sick, I am coming out." With that he got sick. That is an extreme case as we know, but there ARE ones that are real, and if I didnt watch that with my own eyes, I never would have believed it..They have a great deal of evidence as did the first team, but this "team" is not about to send me anything negative for obvious reasons..JN

While I was with S.G.R.G., we caught an orb pass thru a wall, move thru the air along the wall, and then take a very significant turn around a corner.

Do orbs exist? Of course they do, you have photo's of them right?
Are they paranormal in nature? Who knows for sure? Lots of things come in the shape of an orb, including dust, moisture, bubbles, basketballs, and planets... wink2.gif
Shakezulah
I really do believe that paranormal orbs exist. They are, as we all know, incredibly easy to fake, but I have seen some pretty solid footage of them that really can't logically be explained. I also have (or had, at least) pictures with tons of orbs in them. A few years ago, I was on vacation with my family. We were on out way to Myrtle Beach in South Carlolina, but we stopped in Athens, Ohio for a few days. Athens is considered to be one of the most haunted towns in all of the U.S. and after being there, I know why. Anyways, we were in one of the cemeteries in the town. A lot of weird stuff happened in that place, but on one occurance, we took a picture of the exact same spot two times, only a few seconds apart. One picture was perfectly clear...no dust, dirt, or moisture to be seen, the second picture was literally filled with orbs....I'm talking at least 30 or 40 of them. There was no way we could explain it. My dad, who took the picture, did not move in inch between the two shots. It was quite creepy. There were plenty of other orb shots, but none as interesting as that. I was always pretty skeptical towards orbs, and I still am, but that is almost full-proof evidence right there. I'm wondering if my dad still has the pictures from the trip? I'll see if I can find them.
