This documentary came out in 1979, and is my favorite concerning ghost stories. I grew up watching lots of "In Search Of" episodes and paranormal documentaries as a child in the 70's, and really can't stand most that are released these days. Far too much heavy metal and MTV quick cuts with bad recreations.

This documentary was very slow paced (in a good way), showed just the castles and estates, with the stories narrated by actor Richard Basehart or told by the then current owners of the estates in Ireland. If anyone has any info on how I can obtain a copy, I would really appreciate it.

Hello,
Did you try just googling the actor's name? I did and here is a list of his credits. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000865/

Perhaps the one that you're looking for is among them.
Good luck!

I sure did. If you notice my name is on the imdb forum at the bottom.

I looked everywhere on the net, even went to his fan site where the admin told me she might have it somewhere in a load of boxes, but didn't really feel like looking for it!

Amazon said it was unavailable. I have it saved anyway, and also posted there for someone to contact me.

Its such a great collection of Irish tales and legends. The score is dark and atmospheric alternating with Celtic harp music. The cinematography is breath taking. Castles, tombs, cemetaries, coastal towns...drives me crazy that I can't find it anywhere.

I just ran across this forum today so just found this comment. I said that I was renovating my house and packed up all my tapes. I stored them in a room out of the way so they wouldn't get plaster on them. Yes I have the tape, but NO I did not go looking for it because I didn't want something to happen to it! I have probably 30-50 boxes in that room and I have no idea what box that tape is in. Would you want to look through all those boxes? Although at times it feels like it, but working on this site is not my job. I am a fan who has spent a lot of money, time and effort on this site collecting all the movies, magazines, creating the site, IN MY SPARE TIME etc. I do NOT make any money off this web site. I have to work for a living and that does take up time!

I have been searching for this documentary myself for quite sometime, all to no avail. My cousin taped it off the now defunct Nostalgia Channel back in the early 1990s, and then accidently taped over it. So yes, I have been looking for this documentary for over 20 years!

rbfan: I certainly sympathise with you. As you said, yours is a volunteer effort and not a job. But, when you do locate it, would it be possible to obtain a copy. I would gladly reimburse you for your time and trouble. I would be "tickled pink" to finally get a copy of this show. Please make 20 years of searching worth it! original.gif

TJ
