I haven't posted much here, as I mostly enjoying reading posts. but one of my motivating factors to read stuff here was because of the new house we live in.

Its nearly 40 years old now, and the original owner's son sold it to us after his father passed on. Now, don't ask me how he died, asall I know is he had Alzheimers.

However, I do believe he still walks through the house. I say this because he built it from scratch, and the family ran a carpentry business. It would have meant alot to him, having built it from scratch, raising his family in it, etc.

We have a quite a few animals with us. 1 dog, 2 cats, a rabbit, and then 4 degus.

We sit in the living room with all the animals (except the degus) cuddling on someone's lap. they are very relaxed animals, for the most part.

Now, this is a regular occurence that happens a few times a week. its become more of a joke, tbh. but at one point, the animals will all tense and look up, at one spot in the area where we sit, and "track" something from side to side. one of the cats sometimes will lose it and hop off whoevers lap she's on and run down the hall, all the time looking back over her shoulder, eyes huge. she then hides under a bed and i have to coax her out. (its the reason why i say "most" of our animals are calm).

the other two are tense, but wary, its not a fly, as we get up and go to where it is, and we look and look for one. we even turn off the TV to see sometimes. they continue to follow it, and then give an astonished blink and a jump, and start wildly looking around, like whatever it was all of a sudden vanished.

We're pretty cool with all this, as its only been this that has happened. personally, i think its a great story to tell to freak people out. but whenever the animals do this, I say high to whereever they look. I figure, what ever it is, be polite. grin2.gif haha, gotta love me, huh?

anyways, recently (after 3 years of this) something odd happened. before nothing like this would happen.

I went up at around 2am in the morning (just before) as I was finishing up some of my writing for the night. I needed some water, so after getting it, i went back down the stairs.

now, about halfway down the first half of the stairs (we have about six steps, a front door landing, and then another 6 steps to the basement landing. the computer room door is directly off it) I started hearing thumping noises, like footfalls. See, the sensitive, jumpy cat, who follows me everywhere like a dog, usually does the exact same noise when going down these stairs. so I turned expecting to see her. we have stair games, involving her stopping halfway down to the front door landing to look at me through the railling while i finish going down, and i yank her tail gently or something or other.

well, as you can imagine, nothing was there. I was a bit startled, so i looked over, and couldn't see the glint of eyes or any white of the cat. i even meowed. no answer.
by now, i was quite puzzled, when i heard another thump. they came at around 10 second intervals. VERY slow footfalls. I stood there till i heard it hit approximately the 2 step to where i was standing on the landing, and then i went down the other set of stairs to the basement landing, with the computer room door open.

By then, the foot fall/thumps hit the other landing, and started coming around to the stairs down to where i was. i stood there for about a minute as the sounds came closer to the bottom. I was getting a bit spooked, but not very freaked. By then i was figuring the ghost was making the sounds, and its not like he's done anything. no poltergist activity or anything.

i decided it would be best to go into the light of the computer room though when the footfalls were about 2 feet from me (about 2 steps again, but i was standing very close to the stairs this time) so i went in the computer room and closed the door. I kept listening, but they seemed to vanish after the door shut. I was feeling a bit bad (i usually say hi to the poor guy) but i was a bit spooked.

I have encounter this stuff before, but it was only once. and why i know this guy is "friendly" is because the other encounter wasn't/ I was ten or so at the time, down in the computer room in a duplex, when i decided to shut things down and go upstairs for a bit. i got a bad feeling about 1/3 of the way to the stairs, and then it all of a sudden got super cold, with a breeze to boot just as cold. I ran so fast out of there, you wouldn't believe it. I pretty much lost it, and it was only when i got up stairs into natural light i felt it ease. i was absolutely terrified, and i didn't go back downstairs alone for a few days after. which is something; i really love my computers! grin2.gif xD

Anyways, just thought I'd share.

"remember folks: always be polite to your ghosts!!!" ;D

haha!

the boyfriend i have is actually really annoyed with the ghost. his theory is its perverted and watches me undress, and so he goes: " only i can think dirty thoughts about my GF!!!" hahaha... So as usual, we've morphed into a joke.

the sounds haven't happened again, but the usual stuff with the animals do.

aaah well.

anyways, thanks for reading all that, if you have. original.gif

Did you just hear or have you actually seen him?

Yeah. Its better to be nice with a good ghost, and if I were you I would try talking to the ghost. Just remember that if you do talk to the ghost, hold a holy bible and say 'in the name of the father the son and the holy ghost, who are you and what do you want/what is your business?'. This might sound kinda weird, but its better to be safe than sorry. original.gif

I think it's a very good idea that you are speaking to the spirit. Make him feel welcome; it was his house first, ya know. There's a good probability that he's just there to make sure his house is staying in good order. And another thing, you might want to let him know when he spooks you. Just say something like "Oh my word, (name) you scared me there." He might actually stop doing it after a while. But the one thing I wouldn't necessarly reccomend is trying to use a Ouji board to contact him. While it may work, there are a multitude of things that could go wrong.

I'm the most unlikely person to use ouija boards. My dad messed in the occult in his 20s and 30s, and i've heard all the stories of what went wrong. definitely not touching anything xD

Oh, I talk to him a lot when i'm home alone and this occurs. he always seems to settle down, as whichever animal i have becomes less tense the more i blab on.

I think its really cute, tbh. its not like he's ever scared me really. Even the animals have been slowly adjusting, and the jumpy cat isn't as jumpy now as a year or so ago.

haha, i don't think i need to keep a bible on me at all times wink2.gif he's a good guy.

as you said Rosenrot, i think he's just making sure we don't kill his house. we did put some nice new siding on it recently, and we're fixing up the bathroom and the windows have been replaced and a porch added on. the value has gone up of the house dramactically, obviously.

That was the first time i've ever heard him, and i've never seen him. I'd havea a heartattack if i did. i'm alerted by our animals, and that's when i start talking.

I'll definitely stay polite to him! grin2.gif haha

I don't believe in friendly ghosts. I just don't think god or karma would allow a good person's spirit to wander around the Earth aimlessly after they die. It's probably some sort of evil entity trying to gain your trust so it can possess your body or drive you crazy.
I could be wrong. It happens .00009% of the time. grin2.gif

Hmm, that may be the reason he made himself known. I'm no expert, but many people report that an old owner of the house will make her/himself known after renovations have taken place in the house. I don't think they're upset; they just want to see what changes have taken place in thier humble abode.

And fylgja, not all hauntings are with spirits. Some hauntings involve energies that replay events. But I am unsure as to which type of haunting this is.

Oh, where are my manners? Willkommen, Solitaia and silentkiller!

Great story and NEVER use a Ouija board or talk to it/him. Apparently he is "grounded" meaning he is attached to the house not to you or your b/f etc. Easier said than done, but let him be, and hopefully he will eventually move on. Once you talk to IT, or use a Ouija board, you open up more doors than you ever bargained for. The bottom line is, as long as its sort of poltergeist stuff with noise and annoying the animals, you should be safe. I suggest you get the house blessed and that JUST might allow him to move on. IF it is him, for his own safe soul he needs to go, as sad as it sounds, he may not even know he's dead or accepted his death. Good Luck..JN

Residual hauntings. I know. I've been studying this stuff since you were in diapers, dear.

My cat, when I'm around her, occasionally stares off into one direction, as if examining the behavior of another person. She then snaps out of it, and starts rubbing up against me. My dog, Bruno, will sometimes be sitting in the dining room, and will start following an imaginary object towards the stairs leading upstairs. Very weird indeed.

COOL Animals seem to see a whole lot more than we do!!- yes.gif
Solitaia
that they do!

Well, the one cat we have is super jumpy, but, when we first moved in here, the dog did growl a bit. they've all become accustomed to it and, while not necessarily calm, they don't act as rashly xD

yeah, i've heard of deceased homeowners doing the same too. its just taken a while for him to do is react. we've had most of the changes in for months, and its only now the pattern has altered.

btw, he did some more last night, while i was running about. may also say this was again around the same time, 2am. so a pattern is sort of appearing. 2 days appart. but it was a mix of a stomp and a click, and no, not the furnace. i even stood beside the furnace and listened, but it was on then. it wasn't nearly as odd as the stair stuff was.

I doubt its an evil spirit. three years of the animal stuff. i just thing he is very attached to his house, tbh. i'm not really worried, but its definitely really interesting to watch unfold.

Is that where you got that figure form? That's very precise.

Or were you just saying that "There's a chance, but very unlikely chance that it is a friendly ghost" ?

How long would this research be, for Rosenrot to be in daipers/nappies when you were researching? Sounds quite interesting. Was it a paid job or just an interest that brought you into researching this sort of thing?

Its nearly 40 years old now,

How do you consider that an old house? An old house is around 65-80 years old, and up of course.
Please Explain

Don't know what's on your mind, she didn't said the house was very old.
It's like saying how old are you.

Like saying "I'm 15 years old now", even though 15 years old is actually young. >_>

Do you say "15 years young", I know some people do.

Personal experience. And seriously, anyone who gets paid for this sort of thing is a criminal.
