Father, son die attempting to drown dog
katv.com | Submitted by: Ignatius Reilly
"18-year-old Eugene Weston Junior and his cousin planned to drown their pit bull in an old abandoned cotton gin across the street from their home. The gin hadn't been used in more than 30 years and inside the pit was a thick combination of water, oil, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, and dirt. As the son looked into the eight to ten foot pit, he slipped and fell in. The cousin ran for help and called 9-1-1. That's when the father, 42-year-old Eugene Weston Senior, jumped into the pit after his son... The pit bull is still alive and unharmed."

Ha! Talk about karma eh?

i dont think 2 ppl deserve to drown cuz they wanted to drown their dog...ITS JUST A DOG!!! maybe the dog was sick or needed to be put to sleep, but they didnt have the money to do so, and didnt have a gun to put the dog out of its misery...so they just figured theyd throw him in that pit and leave...would be sad either way it ended...sad.gif
tendo
ok...nvm...they deserve it...they were fightin it...not cool
TheLight
A tragedy with a happy ending if I may say so... Too bad for the father though (it wasn't mentioned if he agreed with what his son was doing).
babyforrest
If they wanted to put the dog to sleep, drowning isn't a really pleasant way to go. That is karma for the son if I ever heard it, but it is sad about his father.
Fluffybunny
A slight bit off topic, but I just uploaded a picture of my two kittens in the member pet photo area. My wife and I raised the two of them since they were one week old. Someone had put an entire litter of kittens into a trash bag, and then thrown them into a dumpster... crying.gif

A friend of ours heard them when she took her trash out. She pulled them out of the bag, one had already passed...

We took two of the kittens and our friend took the other one. We had to bottle feed them every 2 hours...it was great. I was so worried about them making it that I would put the both of them into my shirt pocket while I was working to make sure that they were ok...

It is 3 years later, they are the best cats I have ever known. Spoiled to no end, but still the best tongue.gif

As for the kid drowning the dog, I hate to say it, but payback can be a bi...you know what I mean.
SpaceyKC
Oh after reading that story, I have to agree that it seems justified that the son found out what the dog would have suffered.
It was very nice to read your story with the happy ending for those kitties, fluffybunny. original.gif

Here is a true story from The Darwin Awards:

‘Darwin Award: In a Pig’s Eye
Confirmed by Darwin
July 4, 1991

Three Eaton men died from a fatally flawed plan on the evening of July 4. James, Billy and Ashley were killed after their blue Ford pickup rolled over on Country Road 24. Hogs and alcohol were contributing factors to the accident. “We found several beer cans in and around the scene,” said Sheriff Andrew Watson. The driver had a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit.

Events unfolded as follows:

The three men spent the national holiday drinking. Later that evening they were struck with a sudden craving for pork chops. “They were popping off fireworks when Jimmy said they ought to go and get some eats,” reported Billy’s girlfriend, Emma. At 11:00pm they drove tem miles to a pig farm, intent on stealing a hog and satisfying that craving for pork chops.

One of the men scaled the fence and tied the end of a rope to a plump quadruped. The other two men started pulling on the four-hundred-pound beast. The stress of a struggling hog was too much for the six-foot chain link fence, and a fourteen-foot section collapsed loudly, startling the other hogs into a stampede.

“I was asleep when I hard this godawful noise,” explained the owner of the farm. “I run out of the house with my shotgun and shot off both barrels in the air and yelled at them to go get on out.”

The friends loaded up their stolen pig in a hurry, tied the rope to the truck, and sped down the country road in excess of ninety miles an hour. Unfortunately they forgot to buckle their seat belts. The pig, on the other hand, was strapped in by its leash.

Three miles down the road, the animal began making a commotion in the back of the pickup truck, causing the vehicle to careen wildly. The swerving lurches threw the pig from the back of the truck, and it was dragged along the dirt road for about half a mile.

Distracted by the commotion and impeded by the friction of the pig, the driver hit a soft shoulder and rolled the truck forty feet, ejecting all three men from the vehicle and killing them. The victims were discovered at 5:00am by a passing motorist.

Police caution motorists to drive sensibly on dirt roads, wear seat belts, and refrain from drinking while driving.

The pig lived.’

morale of the story: never steal a pig with drunken rednecks named Billy or Jimmy.

Just a friendly reminder, hogs and alcohol don't mix.

This had to have happened in the south. The deep south. I know that everyone has to go sooner or later, but I would hope that I would go in some dignified manner.

Being liquered up and crushed during a pig-jacking seems like a bad way to go.

Very very ironic.... clap.gif but they deserve it

Nobody deserves that...cept for my ex girlfriend "angel of fire"...you mods can delete her name cuz she isnt coming back on the site anymore...

and nice story fluffybunny! i hate hearing about kittens being killed! it's not too hard to find someone top take them! no need for killing!

AdrielKelsick
That's karmic justice! (Both the hog and the dog stories).

It just breaks my heart thinking anyone would throw out those adorable little kitties! crying.gif Sure glad you saved 'em and raised 'em, fluffybunny! thumbsup.gif

I have a similar story: a few years ago, some chipmunks made a nest in the eaves of our house. After about a month, we could here the little newborns squeaking when the mother came back from feeding trips.

Then one day, when it was raining really hard, me and my sister were outside, when we saw one of the little ones slowly climbing down the wall of the house, mewing pathetically. Poor little thing didn't even have it's eyes open yet. The mother must have gotten killed by something, because newborns never leave a nest like that unless they haven't been fed for days.
Since it was obvious the little chipmunk wouldn't last an hour in the rain, we took it inside and dried it off and gave it some warmed milk. Then we discovered that three of it's siblings had also abandoned the nest, and were coming down the wall. We took them in too.
We continued feeding them warm milk, and added small pieces of bread after the first few days. Within a week, they were four healthy little chipmunks, and tame as could be. At night, we tried putting them in little beds of clothes to sleep, but they wanted a warmer spot: they would climb up our arms and snuggle behind our hair, right at the nape of the neck, and sleep there, and nowhere else. We had to be careful not to crush them in our sleep, but it worked out just fine.
Eventually, they got old enough to wander outside, and once there, their instincts took over, and they stopped being tame. We'd gotten quite attached to them by then, but we had to let them go. We know at least 2 survived, as we often saw them eating juneberries off the bushes next to the house (a chipmunk favorite).

Just thought I'd share that with you guys. I'll bet nobody else can claim to have slept with a chipmunk! grin2.gif

disgust.gif What comes around goes around, I hate it when people hurt animals and other people, good thing the poor pitt bull didn't get hurt! Karma saw them and kicked them right in the butt!

What did you mean by that "The Krow"?? You didn't do anything to her, did you?
JustAnIllusion
I feel no pity at all for the boy who died, but considering the father wasn't trying to drown the dog, he only came along to save his kid - I do feel that he should not have died.

i didnt do anything to her...she has been sending me Death Threats...an i went to the police like phantom advised...she only joined the site to make me happy...so she wont be comming on anymore...
Scorpius
I'm not sure if they deserved to die. But I'm sure the father should have not died he was trying to help save a life, his own son. I don't think he deserved to die. Nor should the boy, the boy needed to learn a lesson. I can't really say you've learned a lesson when you're dead. However i'm happy the dog survived this.

I was also wondering what happened to this cousin of his. He should be charged for cruelty to animals. I also read that the boy wanted to drown the dog because he couldn't fight anymore, is this imply some sort of dog fight? Were they betting on dog fights? And isn't this illegal.

well I think the whole situation is very sad...children do the stupidist things you can imagin but I dont think any one should die for something so stupid...exspecially a young dumb kid who hasnt got the sence god gave a can of green beans..
Kryso
Some people always seem to think they can get away with anything. Even killing a poor (half crazyed) doggy. I'm not saying the people deserved to die, but hay, worse things happen at sea. Thats why I catch a plane! dontgetit.gif
Benjo Koolzooie
Kind of a tragic story. Glad the dog survived though.
joc
I would have just shot him in the head! Oh well, stupid is as stupid does.

Also, drowning is a painless death. Once that water hits your lungs, you go out like a light. It isn't the drowning as much as the fear of drowning.

The kid was stupid, I'm suprised the pitbull didnt kill him. The father should not have died though.

Drowning eh? I don't know if its that painless, having all that water going straight towards your lungs. Shouldn't that water cause the aveoli (is that the right spelling?) to explode? If it does, then i wouldn't think it is painless. Anyone drowned before, because i have--not a pretty picture. Gasping for air, trying to get to the surface, and away from the dreaded water.

Here's a story:

About 3 or 2 years ago in the summer, me, my brothers, and my cousins, and an aunt and his boyfriend (at that time) went to a lake to go for a swim. We had already known that 2 or more people had already drowned in the lake and quite possibly there spirits are not at rest, but we still went in the water. My aunt's boyfriend rented this huge rubber tube, where everyone had climbed aboard except my aunt, who was on the beach. Little did i know, i was in for a deadly surprise and a frightening one, indeed. One of my cousins or my older brother had jumped on the tube while everyone was on it, causing the whole tube to capsize with such a terrible force. I ended up blacking out, possibly from the tube hitting my head or someone knocking me out cold with either limbs. I suddenly awoken from my black-out about six meters away from the surface and several meters away from where i had originally been. While under water, I looked towards the bottom of the lake and it was very dark and gloomy but i could make out the rocky floors of the lake and as i looked up i had seen that the surface was quite dimly lit. [I was still in shock and wasn't aware whether i had needed air or not] Suddenly, I had the urge to swim...swim up to the surface and away from the bottom floor. I got to the surface and swam back towards my brothers and cousins, near the tube...I survived.

Now that i look back on this, I'm not sure if i would've died down there. Maybe it wasn't my time, and i had to wake-up, or the spirits of the dead who have drowned had woken me up from my black-out. Who knows...

This is what I believed....until, your comment Nxt2Hvn...which prompted me to do some
research on the subject.

My research analysis has concluded that drowning is neither quick nor painless.
I read some accounts of those who had been resuscitated and remembered in detail the pain and horror of the drowning experience.

joc humbly apologizes and seeks forgiveness...

....but now questions....is death in any manner painless? dontgetit.gif

I just have to add my 2 cents to this topic. To all of you morons who say "It's JUST A DOG who cares" or for those of you who say the boy didn't deserve to drown JUST because he intended to drown a DOG.

Think: People have the ability for mal comtempt and evil. Dogs and other animals don't know they can be drowned or harmed by humans on purpose. They're innocent beings. So the fact that this boy intended to drown his PittBull, which he was nonetheless fighting crying.gif he had it coming.

I hope the dog is in a better home now.

People who harm animals are cowards. alien.gif
KayEl
Well, so these two idiots drowned while trying to drown a dog....

There IS a God! rolleyes.gif

Anybody who would try to do that to an animal is less than an animal.
At leat an animal kills for survival or self defense.

At least think of a more humane way! ohmy.gif
mowo
relax, people. At the end of the day the dog lived and there are two less scumbags in the world. Yipee tongue.gif
Scorpius
Most of you people replying don't quite understand the situation.

THE SON was the one who wanted the dog dead NOT the DAD. The DAD just wanted to SAVE his SON, and a stupid one, indeed. (or so the article says)

However, i don't know where this kid got his ideas. Cruelty to animals...hmmm...should have serious penalties...and i guess he got the worse penalty of them all--death.

holy crap that would suck!

The dog didn't bite the sons a** but karma certainly did.
If they were fighting the dog, you'd imagine the dad must have known about it.
Gmac1000
What does the dad have that big poisonous pit for? He should of thought twice before having across from his house, and it sounds like the 18 year old was just another one of those disfunctional teens that use to blow up frogs when they were little and set rabbit traps and hurt those poor little FLUFFYBUNNY's?
Hate to sound cold but it doesn't look like they contributed anything to nature or society and water just leveled itself out.

But there deaths at least gives you all some thing to post about
ames2787
I don't think they really deserved to die for this, it's not like they were trying to kill a child.... this one is sort of unbalanced, yes they shouldn't have been doing it, but no they shouldn't have died. So who knows.
Novo
They merely suffered the death wich the intended to so uncaringly inflict on another life form. With a similiar set of lungs, and a nervous system.
I would prefer they suffered a little more though.
ames2787
It is wrong that they should be doing this at all. But then again it is just a dog. And God knows why they were intending to kill it, it could be like someone suggested cos they were trying to put it down or it attacked a neighbour or anything really. Sometimes people are too quick to judge, and I think quite often people place the deaths of animals over the death of humans, and I know people will disagree but humans really are a higher life form. That's just my opinion and you're not going to change it so please no attacks on me!
